Statement of Purpose

If you were to ask my friends about me, they would describe me as a jovial, fun-loving and a person who is always ready to lend a helping hand. They would also describe me as a sportive person who has a very high temperament. I am also a very observant person who likes to listen rather than talk and then contribute by analyzing facts at the back of my mind. Reliability is a very important criterion in my life and I follow it as much as possible. If I take up a work, I also see to it I wouldn t rest until I have completed the task. My school days have taught me very important lessons in my life. My headmistress made me realize the importance of punctuality the hard way, which is still etched in my mind. My 5th grade class teacher taught me that why remaining silent in class is important. Ever since, it helped me appreciate other people, which indirectly helped in inculcating those characters in me. It was my mathematics teacher s in 5th grade who made me realize that my strength in mathematics. This later helped in get various distinctions in various competitive exams like New South Wales examination and Olympiad. During my school days, I was a active participant all sports activities. I have represented my school in 100m, long jump and relay 100m. Also I was the captain of my school football team and lead the team twice in inter-school tournament. I am very aggressive on the field and have always played as a forward. It was my interest in mathematics and science that helped me take engineering for my degree. I took electronics and communication as my specialization. I was a member of CSI (Computer Society of India) for one year and IEEE for 3 years. I participated in robotics workshop that helped me appreciate importance of the various fields of engineering and how powerful it is if one has the knowledge about all of them. After B.tech from Kerala University, I decided that the next step ahead for me is MBA. My father being a financial analyst partly helped me in appreciate the importance of finance and what my specialization in MBA should be. He used to say that at least it will help you manage your personal finance, if not of a firm. With growing number of companies facing exposure to the foreign competition, the risk involved is also increasing. Hence, there is a rising need for the companies to focus on their cooperate finance strategy in order to counter these threat. And this is exactly where my strength and passion lies. During my internship, I did a project to evaluate the profitability of sales segments of a KEC, Kuwait. After analyzing the profitability, I gave suggestions as to where to concentrate in order to improve. The suggestion I gave had to based on the fact that the

companies in Kuwait were hard hit by recession compared to India and hence is only recovering this year. Hence had to modify my suggestions based on the input given by the company. I also have an interest in stock portfolio management. This interest is very recent one and having been learning more about the techniques for forecasting using various trends. Other than trend, I also look to study the technical aspects of the company as a analyst and hence help get a better view about where to invest. Five years down the line, I see myself as a financial analyst in a cooperate or a stock portfolio manager, in a mutual fund.
