EPLAN cannot write component data to the schematic. Error cause: You are working in the network. Somebody accessed the schematic page before you and is editing it. Suggested remedy: Wait until you can re-access the schematic page or contact the user who is editing the schematic page.
1.3.2
Component entries that EPLAN could not insert or find in the component database are written to a so-called file of differences. You can view the contents of this file by opening the STKLDIFF.ASC file in the current project directory.
1.3.3
EPLAN cannot read component data from the schematic. Possible error cause: You are working in the network. Somebody accessed the schematic page before you and is editing it. Suggested remedy: Wait until you can reaccess the schematic page or contact the person who is editing the schematic page.

1.4.1
Error cause: EPLAN found a cross-referenceable symbol (component) without device tag. Suggested remedies: 1. Use the page, row area and position information to find the symbol in the error list or in the schematic. Once you have found the symbol click on it. Afterwards add the missing device tag to the Symbol properties dialog. Save the schematic page(s) and start running a new contact cross-reference 2. Eliminate the error by using the correction function. You will find it by selecting the menu path Generate / Cross-references/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start from the main menu). Activate the check box "4001 Components without DD: Set to symbol type 254", and confirm by clicking [OK]. EPLAN then changes the symbols into graphical elements that are not considered at the cross-reference run. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
1.4.2
Error cause: You assigned the same device designation to several components with different crossreference types. Example: There are two contactor coils with the same DD in your schematic. One contactor coil is given the cross-reference type "50" (crossreferenceable), the other one "255" (standard symbol, not cross-referenceable). Suggested remedy: Check the device designations of the respective components and assign unique device designations to the components.
1.4.3
Error causes: 1. You inserted a contactor in the schematic provided with more contacts than specified in the parameter program. According to the parameter program you can assign at least 4 and not more than 80 contacts to a contactor. The default setting is "12".
18
2. More subelements of a black box (black box with identical device designation) were inserted in the schematic than specified in the parameter program. In this case, too, at least 4 and not more than 80 black-box subelements can be placed in the schematic. The default setting is also "12". The error message concerning to many black-box subelements is only displayed if the "Include black box in the cross-reference" check box (Crossreferences tab) was activated in the parameter program for contactor settings and cross-references. Suggested remedies: on 1st Call up the parameter program for contactor settings and cross-references by using the menu path Utilities / Parameters / Project / Contactor/crossreference/wiring (start from the main menu). Afterwards click on the Cross-references/wirings tab. Change the value in the Maximum number of contactor contacts input field so that it corresponds to the maximum number of contacts of the inserted contactor (or exceeds this number of contacts), and restart the cross-reference run. or Eliminate the error by using the correction function. You will find it by selecting the menu path Generate / Cross-references/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start from the main menu). Activate the check box "4003 Too many subelements: Change components with specific DD to symbol type 254", and confirm by clicking [OK]. EPLAN then changes the symbols into graphical elements that are not considered during the cross-reference run. on 2nd Call up the parameter program for contactor settings and cross-references by using the menu path Utilities / Parameters / Project / Contactor/cross-reference (start at the main menu). Afterwards click on the Cross-references tab. Change the value in the Maximum number of contactor contacts input field so that it corresponds to the number of black boxes (identical DD) inserted in the schematic (or exceeds this number), and restart the cross-reference run. Further possibility: Deactivate the Include black box in the cross-reference check box. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

1.4.4
Error cause: During the generation run, EPLAN found a coil whose device designation already exists. Suggested remedies: 1. Change the device designation of the coil in the schematic, save the schematic page(s) and start running a new contact cross-reference. 2. Eliminate the error by using the correction function. You will find it by selecting the menu path Generate / Cross-references/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the check box "4004 Coil already exists: Renumber DDs" in the dialog box that appears, and confirm by clicking [OK]. EPLAN then changes the symbols into graphical elements that are not considered at the cross-reference run. Depending on the structure of the device designation, the counter of the device that exists twice is changed so that the coil can be clearly identified in the schematic. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
1.4.5
EPLAN found a connection designation that had already been assigned. In case of the "PE" connection designation this message is output as a note. Possible error causes: 1. EPLAN found a contactor contact that was inserted twice with an identical DD and an identical connection designation in the schematic. The contact is still included in the cross-reference database. 2. In the case of a paired cross-reference (motor overload switch), two contacts with the same device designation and the same symbol type were found. Suggested remedies: on 1st Change the connection designations of the respective contact in the schematic or assign another device designation to one of the contacts that exist twice. on 2nd Call up the correction program by using the menu path Generate / Crossreferences/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the check box "4005 Duplicate connection designation: Change xx:xx to xx and xx ". Then click on [OK]. A supplementary character is added to the connection designations. Regenerate the contact cross-reference run after that.
20
The changed connection designation is now found to be correct and is no longer rejected during the generation run If the respective symbol is a contactor contact which has been assigned twice, you can also re-specify the contacts by using the automatic contactor selection function. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
1.4.6
Error cause: You inserted two components with the identical symbol type (Main element of counter cross-reference) and the same device designation in the schematic. Suggested remedies: 1. Delete one of the main elements that exist twice in the schematic, or 2. give a different device designation to one of the components and assign a auxiliary element for counter-cross-reference with the symbol type "153" to it. or 3. Eliminate the error by using the correction function. You will find it by selecting the menu path Generate / Cross-references/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start from the main menu). Activate the check box "4006 Duplicate main element of counter cross reference: Renumber DDs" in the dialog box that appears, and confirm by clicking [OK]. EPLAN then renumbers the device with the duplicate main element of counter crossreference so that a new device designation is created. Explanation: A symbol cross-reference can be specified in the Symbol properties dialog while entering a symbol. It is thus possible to cross-reference standard symbols. It is important that these symbols have different symbol types. One symbol must be designated as the main element (identifier 150), and one as the auxiliary element (identifier 153). Multiple auxiliary elements are allowed, e.g. pushbuttons or black boxes. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

1.4.7
Cause of warning: A higher-level assignment for a terminal was found that does not occur as a higher-level assignment for a schematic page. This means that the DD cannot be sorted correctly. The name may furthermore be too long. Suggestion for avoiding the warning: Create a page in your project with the corresponding higher-level assignment. The higher-level assignment for the terminal is compared to a file containing the higherlevel assignments of all schematic pages. If you want to use the higher-level assignment only at this terminal, you can delete the page with this higher-level assignment again the entry is nevertheless retained in the file.
1.4.8
W4008, W4208, W5019, W5519, W5819 Location designation does not exist
Cause of warning: A location designation for a terminal was entered that does not occur as a location designation for a schematic page. This means that the DD cannot be sorted correctly. The name may furthermore be too long. Suggestion for avoiding the warning: Create a page in your project with the corresponding location designation. The location designation for the terminal is compared to a file containing the location designations of all schematic pages. If you want to use the location designation only for this terminal, you can delete the page with this location designation again - the entry is nevertheless retained in the file.
1.4.9
Cause of warning: The specified mounting location has not been entered in the corresponding database. Suggestion for avoiding the warning: Select the menu path Utilities/Automatic revision/Revise project (starting at the main menu). Then call up the Create mounting location database menu item. In this case EPLAN regenerates the database for mounting locations.

1.5.1
Error cause: One potential arrow of a potential arrow pair does not have a designation. Suggested remedy:
Assign the missing designation to the corresponding potential arrow, save the schematic page(s) and start running a new potential cross-reference run.
26
1.5.2
Target tracking was not successful. Possible error causes: 1. The target wiring is incorrect, meaning that the target tracking leads back the original symbol without encountering another symbol representing a device (ring closure). 2. The maximum number of 19 changes of direction has been reached (search depth exceeded). Suggested remedies: on 1st Check whether incorrect target wiring causes target tracking to return to the same terminal or the same potential arrow. on 2nd Check to see if no more than 19 insertion points (angles, nodes) lie between the starting point (terminal, potential arrow) and the target.
1.5.3
Error cause: More targets were found than the available number of possible connections. This means that the validation key is incorrect. For example this problem occurs when a node is connected to a potential arrow. Suggested remedy: Check the target wiring in the schematic around the specified potential arrow. Even if nodes are drawn as point wiring in the graphics schematic display, target tracking is carried out in accordance with the target wiring.
1.5.4
Error cause: Two potential arrows where the arrowhead does not connect to the shaft were found. Suggested remedies: 1. Always draw the potential arrows in pairs in the schematic. One arrow must point "out of the schematic page", while the other one (on a subsequent page) points "into the schematic" (target arrow). 2. The arrow head check can be suppressed by means of the parameter setting. You can find the relevant Identifier for potential arrow check parameter on the Crossreferences tab in the "Parameters for contactor selection and the cross-reference pro-
27
gram" dialog. You can call up this dialog by selecting the menu path Generate / Cross-references/Wiring list / Parameters / Cross-references (starting at the main menu). Set the parameter identifier to "0", "1" or "3". 3. Call up the correction program by using the menu path Generate / Crossreference/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the "4225 Incorrect arrowheads: Rotate arrowheads" check box in the subsequent Correct dialog box. EPLAN now automatically changes the direction of the incorrect potential arrow. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
1.5.5
Cause of warning: EPLAN found a potential arrow without connection to a device. Suggestion for avoiding the warning: Link the potential arrow to a device or to a terminal. Connect the potential arrow that points to the subsequent page with the arrow end to the component. Then connect the potential arrow (target arrow) on the subsequent page with the arrow head to a component.
1.5.6
Error cause: An odd number of potential arrows with the same designation was used. As a result, one arrow does not have a target. Suggested remedies: 1. Change the designation of the potential arrow that was inserted last in the schematic, and draw a further potential arrow as target for the renamed potential arrow in the schematic (on another schematic page). or 2. Call up the correction program by using the menu path Generate / Crossreference/wiring list / Generate / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the "4226 Incomplete pairs: Convert arrow to device-end terminal" check box in the subsequent Correct dialog box. EPLAN then automatically converts the incorrect potential arrow to a device-end terminal.
28
In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
1.5.7
Cause of warning: There is a connection between two potential arrows on one and the same schematic page. This message is only displayed if the Identifier for potential arrow check parameter is set to the value "3" (arrow pairs and page) or "4" (arrowheads and page) You will find this parameter on the Cross-references tab in the "Parameters for contactor selection and the cross-reference program" dialog. You can call up this dialog by selecting the menu path Generate / Cross-references/Wiring list / Parameters / Cross-references (start at the main menu). Suggestions for avoiding the warning: 1. Insert the target arrow into another schematic page, or 2. Set the parameter identifier to the value "0", "1", or "2". In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

1.6.1
EPLAN found a wiring point with no associated definition line during the generation of the wiring list. Cause of error message: You have moved the insertion point of the wiring point by mistake so that EPLAN cannot assign it to the definition line any more (see example). Suggested remedy: 1. Open the message window in graphics editing by selecting the menu path Edit / Messages. 2. Use the mouse to highlight the line with the error message, and click [OK]. The cursor in the schematic now jumps to the error source. 3. In addition, press the [i] key to have the insertion point indicated. 4. Then position the cursor on the insertion point, and keep the left-hand mouse button pressed down. The cursor will then become a circle. 5. Keep the left mouse button pressed down and move the wiring point to the intersecting point of the definition line and the conductor. Release the mouse button afterwards. The intersecting points is now marked with a transversal line. 6. Save the schematic page(s) and regenerate the wiring list.
In the left-hand graphic the insertion point of the wiring point has been moved downwards. EPLAN therefore cannot assign the wiring point to the definition line. In the right-hand graphic, the insertion point of the wiring point is correctly positioned on the intersecting point of the definition line and the conductor. The intersecting points is now marked with a small transversal line.

1.6.2
EPLAN did not find a potential arrow of a potential arrow pair during the generation of the wiring list. Possible error causes: 1. The potential arrow was not inserted. 2 The designation of the potential arrow was incorrect. Suggested remedy: on 1st Insert the missing potential arrow in the schematic. Make sure that the direction of the potential arrows is correct. on 2nd Change the designation of the potential arrow. Both potential arrows of a potential arrow pair must have the same designation. Save the schematic page(s) after having inserted or renamed a potential arrow, and start a new wiring list generation run.
1.6.3
Error cause: The cross-reference field assigned for the wiring designation is not large enough. The wiring designation is therefore incomplete. Suggested remedies: 1. Select the menu path Utilities / Parameters / Project /. Contactor/crossreference/wiring (start at the main menu). In the subsequent dialog box click on the Cross-references/wirings tab and increase the value in the Field length for wiring designations input field (see also help window there). You can specify a value between 7 and 20 characters in the Field length for wiring designations input field. After you have changed this parameter, EPLAN will ask you to start a new generation run. 2. Reduce the length of the wiring designation to the value that you fixed for this parameter. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

EPLAN found a duplicate device-end terminal designation during the PLC crossreference run. Suggested remedy: Change one of the duplicate device-end terminal designations in the schematic, save the schematic page(s), and start a new PLC cross-reference run. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
1.8.2
EPLAN could not open the PLC cross-reference database. Possible error causes: 1. The project directory in which the file specified in the error message had been stored was deleted. 2. The schematic database file specified in the error message or the project directory, in which this file was stored, is write-protected. 3. You are working in the network. Somebody accessed the PLC cross-reference database before you. 4. You are working in the network. You do not possess the corresponding access rights for the file. Suggested remedies: on 1st Check whether the specified file or the project directory still exist. on 2nd Check the attributes of the file or of the project directory. De-activate the write protection for the file or for the project directory. on 3rd Wait until you can reaccess the PLC cross-reference database or contact the user who is editing the file. on 4th Contact your system administrator and ask him for the corresponding access rights for the file. Suggested remedies: 1. Select the menu path Utilities / Parameters / Project / Terminals/cables (start at the main menu). EPLAN opens a dialog in which you can set the parameters for the generation of the terminal and interconnect diagrams. The cursor is automatically positioned in the first input field of the Terminal breakdown parameter. This partial parameter determines the number of characters preceding the terminal strip. The following example shows how to increase the specified value: You gave the following designation to a terminal strip in the schematic: 41AX2:1, 41AX2:2, 41AX2:3 etc. The parameter value "2" is assigned to the preceding identifier. But since three characters are used in front of the "X" identifier in the schematic EPLAN displays an error when the terminal diagram is being generated. If you set the parameter value to "3" or to a higher number and restart the generation run this error will not occur any more. If you enter a "0" or a number exceeding "18" EPLAN ignores the specified value and replaces it automatically with the value "9". 2. Reduce the number of characters of the partial parameter in the schematic so that it corresponds to the predefined number in the parameter program. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
41
You gave the following designation to a terminal strip in the schematic: X33:1, X32:2, X33:3 etc. The value "1" is given in the input field of this partial parameter. But since two figures are used behind the "X" identifier in the schematic EPLAN displays an error message when the terminal diagram is being generated. If you set the parameter value to "2" or to a higher value and generate a new terminal diagram this error will not occur any more. If you enter a "0" or a number exceeding "9" EPLAN ignores the specified value and replaces it automatically with the maximum value "9". 2. Reduce the number of characters of the respective partial parameter in the schematic so that it corresponds to the predefined number in the parameter program. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

You gave the following designation to a terminal strip in the schematic: X1:110, X1:111, X1:112 etc. The value "2" is given in the input field of the partial parameter Terminal number. But since three numbers behind the ":" separator were specified in the schematic EPLAN displays the error message mentioned above when the terminal diagram is being generated. If you set the parameter value to "3" or to a higher value and generate a new terminal diagram this error message will not be displayed any more. Only parameter values between "1" and "7" will be accepted in the input fields. If you enter a "0" or a number exceeding "7" EPLAN ignores the specified value and replaces it automatically with the maximum value "7". 2. Reduce the number of characters of the respective partial parameter in the schematic so that it corresponds to the predefined number in the parameter program. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
43
You gave the following numbering to terminals in the schematic: X17:22.10, X17:22.12, X17:22.12 etc. The value "1" is given in the input field of the partial parameter Terminal subnumber. But since two numbers behind the "." separator were specified in the schematic EPLAN displays the error message mentioned above when the terminal diagram is being generated. If you set the parameter value to "2" or to a higher value and generate a new terminal diagram this error message will not be displayed any more. Only parameter values between "0" and "7" will be accepted in the input fields. If you enter a number exceeding "7" EPLAN ignores the specified value and replaces it automatically with the value "1". 2. Reduce the number of characters of the respective partial parameter in the schematic so that it corresponds to the predefined number in the parameter program. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

Change the designation of one of the two terminals. Check in the input window of the terminal under Check code whether the terminal
number may be set several times within this terminal strip. When drawing a potential terminal you should set the value for the check code to 1 so that the terminal number is allowed several times. Furthermore, you should also set the value for the sorting identifier to 1 so that the terminal is sorted behind the terminal lying to the left of it.
Call up the Edit menu item in the Terminal and interconnect diagram module and
click on the error correction in order to allow a "duplicate" terminal. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies or corrections since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

Suggestions for eliminating the error: 1. Set the minimum number of spare terminals in the Terminal strip tab in the Text properties dialog to "0", or 2. increase the minimum number of spare terminals so that it exceeds the number of terminals used in the schematic, or 3. Launch the automatic correction program by using the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the "5058 Terminal number exceeds spare: Increase spare" check box in the subsequent Correct dialog box and click [OK]. EPLAN now automatically increases the number of spare terminals so that the warning message does not occur any more. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.

colon) must agree with the number of figures for the terminal number(s) used in the schematic. Either reduce the number of figures of the respective terminal number(s) used in the schematic to the value specified in the parameter program, or increase the value for the length of the terminal number(s) in the parameter program. Generate a new terminal diagram after that. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
By mistake, the terminal number "371" was assigned to the terminal "X10:37" in the schematic. However, according to the parameter settings (Terminal subdivision parameter) only two figures are allowed for the length of the terminal number. Therefore EPLAN cannot find the jumper targets of the terminal. The terminal "371" is not displayed in the terminal diagram, but the two incomplete jumpers that originate from the terminals "X10:34" and "X10:42" (see illustration below). In addition to the error, EPLAN thus outputs the number of incomplete jumpers in the message window.

53
In the left-hand graphics a cable line is drawn incorrectly (oblique). In the right-hand graphics you will find a correctly drawn cable line (horizontally).
54
Terminal "X1:3" was deleted. Therefore the third conductor of the defined cable "W1" is without the two target connections "X1:3" and "M1:W1".
55
The device designation of the motor was deleted or not entered into the schematic. There is a cable connection but EPLAN could not assign the cable target.
56
Two cable lines were inserted by mistake between terminal strip "X1" and motor "M2". There is no unique cable or conductor specification.
The cable line of cable "W1" intersects a conductor of cable "W2". Therefore both cables are defined incorrectly.
57
The marking of the left-hand conductor of cable "W1" "slipped" into the inserted shielding.
58
The first and second target of cable "W2" are identical (terminal strip "X4" in both cases). Therefore the cable cannot be generated.
59
The cable designation is missing at the specified cable line. Therefore EPLAN cannot assign the cable to the two targets ("S1" and "S2").
60
61
The terminal strip "X1" and the motor "M1" (see left-hand graphics) of the defined cable "W1" were deleted, but the cable line was not. The cable line is no longer located between two devices, but "floats" undefined in the schematic (see right-hand graphics).

Follow the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Cable types (start at the main menu). In the subsequent Cable types dialog you can assign the new cable either to a projectspecific file or to a general cable type file (*.KLB). Furthermore you can enter the new cable in a new cable type file here. If you want to generate the cable project-specifically, click on the entry Project-specific to be found in the tree that is located on the left-hand side in the dialog box. If you want to assign the cable to a general cable type file just click on the desired cable file in the tree view. Whether you want to assign the new cable to a project-specific or to a general cable type file, select New from the pop-up menu in both cases. In the subsequent dialog you can create a new cable type file by means of the Type file input field. Delete the name entered there and enter a new name. Afterwards enter the name of the new cable type and select the type of cable. Enter the number of conductors in the subsequent window and click on [OK]. Close the dialog afterwards. Particular points to be regarded when selecting the color-coded cable: When you create a color-coded cable you must assign the corresponding color to each conductor. Click in the Cable types dialog on the specified number of conductors under the cable type in the tree view (click on cable type first). On the right-hand side of the dialog the individual conductors will be listed which are sequentially numbered and provided with a placeholder (#). The placeholder indicates that this a color-coded cable whose conductor colors have to be added manually. To do this, click on each conductor number twice (no double click), and enter the desired conductor color into the framed input field. Afterwards, click on or click on any list entry to transfer the value.
1.12.16 F5225, F5233, F5260, F5281, F6303 Number of conductors not defined
EPLAN found a cable in the schematic with an undefined number of conductors (see also error message F5239 "Too many conductors"). Error cause: You specified a number of conductors in the schematic which is not permitted for this cable type. For example the cable line intersects more conductors in the schematic than you have defined for the cable. The error message indicates the cable type with the incorrect number of conductors.
65
Suggested remedies: 1. Click on the insertion point of the cable line in the schematic. The Symbol properties dialog will then be displayed. Then, click on the [...] button that is located next to the No. of conductors input field in the Cable tab. The subsequent dialog will indicate the selected cable type and will list the numbers of conductors defined for the cable. Select the number of conductors you need and click [OK]. EPLAN will now replace the incorrect number of conductors by the right one. After that, save the schematic page(s) and start a new cable generation run. 2. Alternately, you can define a new number of conductors for the cable (namely the number that was rejected by EPLAN). Select the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Cable types (start at the main menu). In the Cable types dialog box you will find all defined cable type files with the associated cables. Select the cable in the tree view, and highlight it. EPLAN then displays the numbers of conductors of the cable. Now click on any number of conductor assigned to the cable. Afterwards, select the New option from the pop-up menu. Define a new number of conductors for the cable in the subsequent dialog box by entering this number in the input field. Confirm this entry by clicking on [OK], save the new cable data, and close the dialog. Then, change over to the schematic. Find the cable, and click on the insertion point of the cable line. In the subsequent Symbol properties dialog click on the [...] button that is located next to the No. of conductors input field in the Cable tab. Select the newly defined number of conductors for the cable in the subsequent dialog and click on [OK]. Exit the Symbol properties dialog box by clicking on [OK], save the schematic page(s) and start a new generation run.
66
2. Use the key on the keyboard to display the markings of all schematic symbols in the schematic. Now the intersection and insertion points between the cable line and the conductors are displayed. Delete the intersection points one after the other. The conductor colors will be deleted, too. After that, delete the associated cable lines. Save the schematic page(s) after each error correction and start a new cable generation run.
The terminal strip "X2" and the connected switch "S1" were moved to the right. However, the cable line of the defined cable "W12" remained on the old position. As the cable line is now located outside the connection and the intersection points of the cable line were moved with the conductors, no cable is defined for the conductor colors.
67
68
2. You assigned a color to a (several) cable conductor(s) in the schematic, that is (are) not defined for the selected cable. For example you assigned the color white (wt) to the conductor of a four-conductor color-coded cable of the NIY type with the colors blue (bl), brown (br), black (nr) and yellow (ye). Suggested remedies: on 1st Use the key on the keyboard to display the insertion points and markings of all schematic symbols in the schematic. Delete all insertion points at the rejected conductor colors, save the schematic page(s) and start a new generation run. If you want the conductor numbers of the new cable type to be displayed in the schematic, proceed as follows: Exit the Graphics editing module. Afterwards, select the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Cable and conductor data / Delete. In the following window a selection of the cable data to be deleted is displayed. Activate the Conductor colors check box, and click [OK]. Select the incorrect cable from the subsequent dialog by highlighting it in the Available list (on the left) and transfer it to the Output list (on the right) by using the button. Then start the conductor colors deletion process by clicking [OK], and confirm the subsequent message window by clicking [OK] again. Select the Cable and conductor data menu item once again. This time, click on Transfer in the subsequent menu. Select a conductor color font size in the following dialog box, and click [OK] to confirm the your selection. Then re-select the cable by using the button, and click [OK] again. EPLAN now adds the cable numbers to the cable line. They are displayed in the Graphics editing module. on 2nd Exit the Graphics editing module and select the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Display/Edit / Interconnect diagram. Click on the Conductor assignment tab in the subsequent dialog. EPLAN will show you the colors defined for the cable and which conductors are reserved or free. Close the dialog and change the color(s) of the conductors found by EPLAN in the schematic. After that, save the schematic page(s) and start a new cable generation run. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
69
The type of the cable "W12" defined in the schematic was changed. A numbered cable of the lflex type was used instead of the color-coded cable (see cable identification). The conductors of the numbered cable still have the colors of the previous cable.
70
Then, click on the [...] button that is located next to the No. of conductors input field in the Cable tab. The subsequent dialog will indicate the selected cable type and will list the numbers of conductors defined for the cable. Select the number of conductors you need and click on [OK]. EPLAN then displays the numbers of conductors. Now click on any number of conductors assigned to the cable.
71
Depending on the defined direction of the connection for the cable definition, two different warnings of the same title can be output: "W5243" and "W5285" (for details refer to example). Suggestion for avoiding the warnings or for error correction: First, select the menu path Options / Multifunction menu / Cable display in the Graphics editing module. The connection targets of the terminals for the cable connections will then be displayed. To avoid warning "W5243" proceed as follows: 1. Select Edit / Messages in the Graphics editing module. EPLAN now displays a list containing all messages which were output during the generation runs. Click on the entry "W5243" on the list (the entry will be highlighted) and afterwards on the [OK] button at the bottom of the list. EPLAN will then close the list of messages and jumps with the cursor to the terminal in the schematic that caused the warning. Click once on the respective terminal. EPLAN displays the Symbol properties dialog. Change the Connection for cable generation property in the Terminal tab from "U = Below" to "O = Above", and close the dialog by clicking [OK]. After that, save the schematic page(s) and start a new generation run. The warning is not output any more. 2. Call up the correction program for terminals and cables by using the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the "5243 One-sided cable definition: Generate a cable" check box and click on [OK]. Now EPLAN has generated a cable for the connection. Click [OK] after the correction run. The warning is not output any more. In case of the warning "W5285" there are the following possibilities to avoid this message: 1. Select Edit / Messages in the Graphics editing module. EPLAN now displays a list containing all messages which were output during the generation runs. Click on the entry W5285 on the list (the entry will be highlighted) and afterwards on [OK] at the bottom of the list. EPLAN will then close the list of messages and jumps with the cursor to the terminal in the schematic that caused the warning. Click once on the respective terminal. EPLAN displays the Symbol properties dialog. Change the Connection for cable generation property in the Terminal tab from "O = Above" to "K = No cable", and close the dialog by clicking [OK]. After that, save the schematic page(s) and start a new cable generation run. The warning is not output any more.
72
2. Call up the correction program for terminals and cables by using the menu path Generate / Terminal/terminal connection/interconnect diagram / Edit / Correction function (start at the main menu). Activate the "5285 One-sided cable definition: Do not generate a cable" check box, and click on [OK]. EPLAN now removes the one-sided cable definition. Click on [OK] after the correction run, and start a new cable generation run. The warning is not output any more. In EPLAN COMPACT it is not possible to carry out all suggested remedies since it has less functions than the complete EPLAN version.
In the left-hand graphic the direction for the cable generation at the terminals "X2:12, 13, 14" was predefined in the Symbol properties dialog to be "U = Below". Thus the cable definition is one-sided as far as the terminal strip "X1" is concerned. In this case, EPLAN will output the warning "W5243".
73
In the right-hand graphic the direction of the cable generation at the terminals "X5:12, 13, 14" was predefined in the Symbol properties dialog to be "O = Above". In this case, too, there is a one-sided cable definition as to the terminals "X4:1, 2, 3". In this case, EPLAN will output the warning "W5285".
74
Suggested remedy: Change the cable type in the Symbol properties dialog. Select a cable provided with a PE conductor (e.g. type "lflex"). After that, save the schematic page(s) and start a cable generation run.
75
Suggested remedy: Change the symbol type of the terminals at all N conductors that are assigned twice. The symbol types for feed-through terminals "100" to "106" are for instance suitable for this. After that, save the schematic page(s) and start a new cable generation run.
76
The cable line of the cable "W8" intersects two shielding conductors.

1.26.2 W7403 Importing of parts being aborted (number of errors > 50)
EPLAN stops importing parts since the number of errors exceeded 50. Possible cause: EPLAN found more than 50 parts that were defined several times. Suggestion for avoiding the warning: Search parts in the import file or in the import database that have been entered several times, delete the superfluous data, and start importing the parts again.

You can also use a text editor to design print forms. It is advisable to create own print forms on the basis of the print forms supplied since experience is required in order to edit the forms. If you use a word-processing program to edit the print forms, ensure that the file is saved in ASCII format. Only files which do not contain control characters can be processed correctly by the report processor.
2.1.1
Print forms have two essential components. Their handling is described below. Form description
Name: ##########
Field description
Price: #######.## DM \1:1,1:39
The character \ (backslash) separates the form description from the field description. The information after the \ is not printed. It specifies which data are to be written into the form. The form description specifies the following criteria:
Which fixed data the form is to contain Where the data fields are to be placed How long the data fields are How the data are to be prepared for printing.
Fixed texts are output on the printout exactly in the line and column specified in the form. You can enter explanatory texts and frames freely. The exceptions are the \ and a dot in the first column which initiates a command or area sequence. Texts not positioned within an area are treated as comments. This also applies to texts positioned behind a command or an area command. Comments are not printed. Lines which contain area commands, comments and commands (for example ..DA 0: Data of the first page) are not counted. The length of the data fields is determined by the number of # used. If you want the printout to contain characters for decimal values or separators for the thousands, you must also enter a # for these characters. If several data fields are to be printed in one line, the length of all the data fields are entered in the form description in the form of #. The individual fields are then separated by at least one blank, graphics character or fixed text. The data can be prepared for printing by means of formatting characters. You can thus specify whether, for example, decimal values are to be used for numerical data. This formatting is described in more detail under the topic "Preparing Data for Printing" (see below). The lines may have a maximum length of 256 characters.
90
The field description can contain various elements which are explained in the following overview.
Number of a file: The file number is used to specify the file from which the data are
to be taken. The data of the control panels are contained in the SRK.DAT housing file. This file has the file number 5.
Number of the data field: The data fields are differentiated within a file by means
of the field number. A colon separates the file from the field number. The Purchase Order Number of a control panel has the field number 6. If you want to print this P.O. Number in a form, you must enter 5:6 as the field description.
Special code: Certain data, for example the system date, can be inserted into a form
by means of special codes.
F code: These codes are only used for the so-called fixed print forms. These are field
codes for particular data. Which data these are depends on the program module from which printing is to be carried out. You can therefore not use F codes for the universal print forms described here. (Also refer to the F codes in the section "Field Identifiers of the Individual Programs".) Notes:
You can print several data in one line of a form. In this case you have to enter a field
description for each field. The individual field descriptions are separated by commas and must not contain spaces.
If several data fields are to be printed in one line, the length of all the data fields are
entered in the form description in the form of "#"s. The individual length specifications must be separated by at least one space (or possibly another character). Data fields and variables: Print preparation means that data fields are output with decimal places, with fillers, left- or right-aligned, etc. The following sections differentiate between the print preparation of:
Numerical data fields and variables Alphanumerical data fields and variables.
Numerical data fields and variables can contain the filler characters * or 0. They can contain decimal places and signs. Which entry in the form leads to which printout, will be illustrated on the basis of the data field 15:176 with the contents 4567.89.

Comment Printout without decimal places Printout with decimal places Printout with filler "*" Printout with filler "0" Left-aligned printout Printout of the actual length of the data field Minus sign is interpreted as a mathematical sign.
The decimal separator is printed out as a period or a comma, depending on the company-parameter setting Decimal character in the Print form menu. In alphanumerical data fields and variables you can specify whether the printout is left-aligned or right-aligned. The contents of the data fields and variables can be shorter than the field length. You can therefore specify whether subsequent characters are to be positioned directly after the field contents or whether space is to be reserved for the complete field length. Printout

Message Overview
If errors occur during printing due to a faulty form, a general message is output on the screen with the specification of the message number. This number together with a description is written automatically into the SYSTEM.ERR file. Use the Message management module to view this file. The entries in the SYSTEM.ERR file have the following structure:
The individual entries: PROGRAM The name of the module by which the message was created or from which printing was carried out is entered under Program. The form entered in the corresponding parameters is used. MODULE Messages generated by the report processor have the entry "REPORT". ERROR NUMBER An internal error number is entered here. If the program provides for an explanation, the explanation text is output in the subsequent lines with the designation "Explanation/Information". The following error numbers can occur: Number Explanation 3520 Numerical variable outside valid range 3530 3840 3850 3621 3622 3623 3624 3625 5000 5010 5020 5030 Numerical variable outside valid range String variable outside valid range String variable outside valid range ":" Missing at "?" The forms for the cross-references, wiring lists, lists for contactor selection, terminal and interconnect diagrams, terminal bill of materials and foreign-language translation all have the following structure: Form commands
..ST ..HE 0
..DA
Data lines
..FO 0
Footers
..DA 21
Fill lines between the data area and the footer The footers and the blank line can be used optionally. These lines can be used, for example, to create a framed form and to fill the page length correspondingly. The structure of the forms for the terminal diagrams and the cable type lists have some additional characteristics which are described for the corresponding forms. Structure of the form files on the basis of the form for potential crossreferences:
Starting area: You can, for example, set a specific font between the ..ST
Starting area and the next .. area.
..HE 0 on contains some general information on the project. In addition page numbering (\PN) and the date (DT)
also belong to this form. The empty field in the first line can be used by you, for example, as the field for the company name. The last line of the header (before the next .. area specification) contains the headline for the following data lines.
0 and consists of
one line in this form. This line contains the data fields which are filled with data during the printout. The corresponding F codes are positioned behind the \ character (backslash) at the end of the line.
Footers: The footers begin at ..FO 0. These complete the form frame at
the bottom and create a margin at the end of the page.
21 begins an area in which special data lines are entered. The blank lines are used to fill the last page of the form until the end of the page so that the frame has the same size on all the pages of the printout.

Strip designation: You can insert this text into the schematic in order to obtain an
overview of the used terminal strips. This is a special text which is evaluated in the terminal diagram.
Function text: The function text which you entered while inserting the terminal in the
terminal dialog is assigned to the terminal. If there is no such text, the function text from the schematic is used. The text lying below the terminal in the same path is assigned to the terminal.
Page: In the case of DIN projects the higher level assignments and location designations also belong to the page number.
Jumper symbols: The jumper symbol 1 is used in the first data line for a terminal, the
second jumper symbol 2 correspondingly in the second line. Either the character " " or a blank is used as the jumper symbol 2. The jumper symbol for the saddle jumpers is inserted for the first # character in the data field. If there are several characters, the wire jumpers are represented there by writing the number of the level behind the jumper symbol.
Target A-D: The characters A to D are assigned to the targets found during the target
search. This means that the target 1 is assigned to target A for the terminal diagram, target 2 is assigned to target B, etc. You can thus decide where the various terminal targets are to be output in the terminal diagram. This means that the terminal diagram can be divided into an "external" and an "internal" half.
Cable A-D: If a cable is defined at a terminal, the cables are assigned to the targets A
to D and printed out.
Wire number A-D: If a special text "Wire numbering" has been set at a connection, it
is evaluated and printed out via this F-code.

The structure of the WUPKLE1.KLE form for the terminal diagrams differs in some aspects from the other forms:
A numerical variable .Z1=0 as well as four string variables with the symbols for the
jumpers are defined in the start area.
This is followed by a header area, two data areas as well as two footer areas for the
terminal strip overview.
..HE 1 is followed by two header areas, six data areas, and the footer area for the
pages with the terminal data. This sequence including the designations for the header, data and footer areas cannot be changed. You can only leave away either the entire section for the terminal strip overview or the section for the individual terminals. Since the printout form for the terminal diagram is very complex, we recommend that you copy the original file supplied by us and then carry out the changes in the copy. Form commands

You can print out the data of one or more projects from the documentation database or from the log. The following four form files are provided:
EDOC1.EKS EDOC1.EGS EDOC1.ESL EDOC1.ELG
The EDOC1.EGS form for the overall overview is subdivided into several data areas because a data area cannot encompass more than 72 lines. Whereas all the fields of the project data are output in the overall overview form EDOC1.EGS, the condensed overview form EDOC1.EKS only contains the most important data. Further variable designations can be added to the condensed overview form. The following table lists the variable designations for the form EDOC1.EGS used to print the overall overview of the project documentation. signments of characters of the ASCII character set to characters of the ANSI character set. The sections are designated with the numbers for the character set table, for example 437 for the German-speaking countries (with umlauts) and 850 for the Slavicspeaking countries.
EPLFONT.INI does not have to be edited!
Note: The underline in the example shows where a blank must be set during input. Further modules that exist in addition to the main module are only existent as independent EXE files for reasons of compatibility with the existing batch files. Additional modules are invoked via EPL6000.EXE /$EPL6xxx. Only this syntax should be used in new batch files. In the section "Main Module (EPL6000.EXE)" you will find additional information on the new main module parameter /$EPL6xxx and on further important parameters (e.g. /P<Project>). The following list gives all modules, for which the associated call-up parameters are specified in the subsequent sections. Please also note the "Information on Notation"at the end of this chapter.

4.2.1
Parameters
/$EPL6xxx
Note: In this example the underline is used to make clear where a blank is to be set. If various modules (EPL6039, EPL6041, EPL6053, EPL6054, EPL6056, EPL6138) are launched with an external call, EPLAN will be terminated after the parameters have been processed as if these modules were started with /AUTO.
/#<command ID>
Enters the specified ID in the list of commands to be carried out. Terminates EPLAN after all commands have been carried out. Activates the EPLAN help function on the "Call-up parameters" topic. Starts with the specified language. Calls up the specified project. The project specification is relative to the set project path. If this parameter is not specified the project that was last edited is taken. Starts EPL6000 in a minimized window and suppresses messages. Sets the project-specific directories of the current project as personal directories. Compresses the project after it has been edited.
/AUTO
/QUIET
/T
/Z
143
EPL6000 can also be started by a file association for an EPLAN project file (we advise EDOC_PRJ.CUM). For example, the following process for the file type CUM can be defined with the file manager: Call-up for this process:
L:\EPLAN4\540\Epl6000.EXE "%1" /T /$EPL6001
A double-click on a CUM file in an EPLAN project launches EPLAN, sets this project as the current one, sets the project-specific directories of this project as current directories, and opens graphics editing. A compressed project will be extracted.
4.2.2
This module is called up via the main module by using the parameter /$6001. Parameters
/CHOOSEPAGE:<ID>: <operator>:<value>
Possible values for <ID>, <operator> and <value> are listed below. ID
0
Meaning Page number (including HLA/LOD) Last modification automatically Last modification manually Higher-level assignment Location designation Last editor Supplementary field page

2; 3 5; 6; 8,1; 8,2; 8,3...8,9 If the comparison value is a date, it must be entered in the YYYYMMDD format to correspond to the internal EPLAN format. Also refer to the examples below.
Output directory for illustrations (see parameter /OUTPUT:TIF). Searches for the page with the specified component. Sends GDI output to the specified printer. The printer name should be included in quotation marks, if the printer name contains blanks or forward slashes ("/") sets /AUTO
/O:<"Printer name">
/OUTPUT:<output type>
All pages are output unless only specific pages are selected with the /CHOOSEPAGE parameter.
145
Output method
DXF EXF
Meaning DXF output EXF output. Here, the EPL_ASC.EXF file is created in the project directory. EXF macro output Print HTML output INTER@VIEW output EPLAN pages are output as images in TIF format
/D:<output directory> is used
TIF
to specify the output directory. Otherwise the image files are created in the project directory.
If individual pages have been selected for the EXF, HTML or. INTER@VIEW output, the project header is always included in the output.
/S<Page name>
Starts graphics editing of the specified page. Searches for the specified path
/X<path>
/Y<position>
The first six examples should help clarify the various possibilities for the /CHOOSEPAGE parameter:
146
Special Settings
/CHOOSEPAGE:0:GT:20
Selects all pages, that have a page number exceeding 20 (page numbering type: Serial numbering).
/CHOOSEPAGE:0:GT:=Hla1+Lod1/1
Selects all pages that have a page number which is greater than =Hla1+Lod1/1 (page numbering type: DIN).
/CHOOSEPAGE:2:GE:20000401
Selects all pages that have been modified after and on April 1st, 2000.
/CHOOSEPAGE:3:GT:20000401
Selects all pages whose manual modification data shows a modification made after April 1st, 2000.
/CHOOSEPAGE:5:EQ:HLA1
Selects all pages containing the string "ClipSelect"in the 9th (and last) supplementary field. The next two examples show what a complete entry for outputting EPLAN project pages would look like. The underline character again represents a blank in these examples:
C:\EPLAN4\540\EPL6000.EXE_/$EPL6001_/OUTPUT:GDI_/CHOOSEPAGE: 0:EQ:6_/AUTO
Print output of page 6 of the current project to the Windows default printer.
C:\EPLAN4\540\EPL6000.EXE_/$EPL6001_/OUTPUT:TIF_/CHOOSEPAGE: 0:EQ:6_/D:C:\Grafik_/AUTO Output of page 6 of the current project as TIF image file to the C:\Grafik
directory. Notes:
To suppress the call-up of the output dialog boxes during the output (e.g. a directory
selection during DXF output), you must add the /Auto parameter at the end of the command line.
For an automated output of EPLAN project pages with the above-mentioned output
parameters the Display page dialog box when starting the graphics check box, which is to be found in the personal working parameters must be deactivated.

They are used for various page types as retainers or to specify the position. You cannot write special text to Logic pages apart from some exceptions.
Exceptions are: Schematic-specific texts (identifier 0-99), page-specific special texts (identifier 100...199), project-specific special texts (identifier 200...299), and texts for special programming (identifier 1100...1199).
When projects or pages are created, these placeholders have values assigned to them
manually or automatically, by the fact that either project or page data are entered or that identifiers such as the modification date are read out automatically.
Special text is also used to create the plot positions of plot frames and plot forms. Special texts can also be used as comment texts, for example, the field supplementary data. Special texts are divided into the following types: Text style Schematic page Page-specific plot frame data Project-specific plot frame data Table of contents Terminal diagram Interconnect diagram Bill of materials Terminal bill of materials Device list Terminal-connection diagram Control panel layout Special programming ID 0 - 99 100 - 199 200 - 299 300 - 399 400 - 499 500 - 599 600 - 699 700 - 799 800 - 899 900 - 999 1000-1099 1100-1199
Each text style is assigned an identifier which is either imported upon selection or which can be entered directly. The following sections list the special texts sorted by numbers. For special texts marked with an "[x]" in the overview, you must also add a value in the "Text" input field. For those texts marked with an "[x,y]" you must enter 2 values, separated by a comma.

6.2.1
Insert symbols
This function lets you read symbols or terminals into the schematics pages. Depending on their type, symbols can be evaluated in various ways. Input involves the following steps:
Select a symbol from the symbol library. Enter device data such as DD, parts data, and electrical characteristics If it does not exist yet: Enter connection designations.
Select the menu path Options/Multifunction menu/Replace + by to swap the shortcuts for Insert symbols and Symbol macros so that you can use to insert symbol macros.
6.2.2
Symbol macros
This function lets you read symbol macros into the schematics pages. Symbol macros can contain several symbols for which the device data such as DD, describing block, parts data, and connection designations have already been defined. This depends on the method used to create the symbol macro. Select the menu path Options/Multifunction menu/Replace + by to swap the shortcuts for Insert symbols and Symbol macros so that you can use to insert symbols.
6.2.3
Insert macros
A macro can be a page or a section of a page that is saved completely as a separate file. This function allows you to read macros into the current page. A selection window from which the directory, macro type, and macro name can be selected are displayed. Only for Logic pages Symbols in macros are not identified by their complete designations, but only by an internal position number for the symbol within the symbol file. Therefore, the sequence of symbol files used to draw the macros must agree with that of the project, otherwise incorrect symbols will be read in and drawn.
200
6.2.4
Black box
You can use black boxes to represent devices with extensive functions and connections that cannot be drawn with individual symbols (for example PLCs). These can then be included during subsequent automatic evaluation runs. Input involves the following steps:
Specify the dimensions of the block by using the cursor keys or the mouse. Enter device data such as DD, parts data, and electrical characteristics Specify data for the DD position as well as graphics data (line type etc.).
You must then enter the connection designations of a black box, using device-end terminals or terminal symbols. Please note the following with respect to the automatic evaluation of DDs: Terminal symbols: In the case of terminal symbols the DD of the black box is used as the terminal strip if:
No terminal strip name was entered (input without blank or colon) or the terminal strip name could not be found (search direction for the terminal strip left/up). DD: DDs of symbols within a black box are recognized during automatic evaluation. However, the DD of the black box is not supplemented or used.
6.2.5
Device-end terminals
Device-end terminals represent the connections of a device you have defined in a black box. In contrast to terminal symbols that you can enter in the schematic by pressing , device-end terminals cannot be included into the terminal diagram. They are, however, recognized as targets. This also applies to terminals with lateral attachments.
6.2.6
Using this function you can insert a PLC end terminal into the schematic. In the subsequent Symbol properties window you can specify the PLC-specific properties of the PLC terminal, e.g. the address, the type of connection (input, output, supply, and bus terminal) and the type of terminal display.
201
6.2.7
Potential arrows
Potential arrows (interruptions) are used to establish connections between symbols for which autoconnect cannot create them because, for example, they are located on separate pages. Automatic evaluation is carried out by the cross-reference program. The operation depends on the following settings:
Identifier for potential arrow check in the parameter program (under the menu path
Project / Contactor/cross-reference/wiring)
in case of DIN projects on the Identifier method (potential arrows) in the project
data. Potential arrows have connections both in the direction of the arrowhead, as well as in the opposite direction.
6.2.8
Cable definition
This function allows you to manually enter cable specifications for cables that differ from the general entries in the parameter program. These can then be evaluated in the terminal and interconnect diagram. In addition, you can also define cables between 2 symbols that are not terminals (non-terminals). Input involves the following steps:
Define the identifier line. Enter the cable data, for example designation, type, etc. Specify the graphics data for the data. Enter the parts data.
The following prerequisites must be met in order to enter a cable specification manually:
Only for cable definitions between 2 non-terminals: You must enter a value in the
Number of conductors field of the cable definition. This number can be larger than the actual number of conductors. If you do not enter any values in the input fields for the number of conductors, cable type, or cross-section, the values from the terminal parameters will be used (except in the case of non-terminals!).
202
If you define a cable with a PE or N conductor under Type, these conductors will only be recognized if you enter either identifier 111 or 112 in the Symbol type field of the corresponding terminal.
6.2.9
Shieldings
This function is used to call up a graphics character for shielding lines. You can use the cursor keys or the mouse to define its size. In the terminal or interconnect diagram, the shielding can be evaluated as a target designation if a designation for the shielding has been included in the terminal-diagram parameters.
Define the identifier line. Enter wiring-definition-specific data Specify the text position Enter line data. 6.2.11 DIN box
Only for processing according to DIN: This function allows you to specify Higher-level assignment and/or Location designation identifier blocks that differ from the current page. All devices lying within the frame will be recognized. Input involves the following steps:
Specify the dimensions of the frame by using the cursor keys or the mouse. Enter device data such as DD and electrical characteristics Specify the DD position as well as graphics line data.
Note the following for the automatic evaluation of the specified identifier blocks:
Whether the higher-level assignment and/or the location designation are imported
depends on the Suppress duplicate HLA/LOD project parameter to be found under
203
the menu path (start at the graphics editing module) Parameters / Project / Terminals/Cables / Terminals/Cables 1 tab.
In this function, only the identifier blocks for the higher-level assignment ("=")
and/or the location ("+") are valid entries for "Device designation". Entries defining the type of device (starting with "-") are not permitted.
Priority: All identifier blocks defined when the symbol was input will be evaluated.
If (identifying) identifier blocks are missing, they will be imported in the following order: 1. Symbol 2. DIN definition 3. Page 4. Project
If the "=" or "+" prefix is followed by a period and a subsequent entry, this entry will
be attached to the current identifier block.
6.2.12 Text
This function allows you to add text to the schematic. There are various types of text available to you. These are:
6.3 Attachment
The Attachment menu contains the following menu items:
1 Angle down, right 2 Angle down, left 3 Angle up, right 4 Angle up, left 5 Node, down 6 Node, up 7 Node, right 8 Node, left 9 Jumper Double junction Interrupt Specify line data
204
Move the mouse onto the menu entry in order to have information about the respective menu item in the status bar.
6.3.1
Angle
EPLAN can only evaluate connections that have been created by the automatic connection function (autoconnect) between symbols. Angles change the direction of the automatic connection. There will not be a prompt. The angle is designated in accordance with the scheme "Angle direction, attachment direction" so that an angle "left, down" looks like follows: Autoconnection can only be used for logical connections. It cannot be used to draw graphic elements, otherwise errors will occur during automatic evaluation runs.
6.3.2
Node
EPLAN can only evaluate connections that have been created by the automatic connection function (autoconnect) between symbols. Nodes split the automatic connection path. Nodes also have an effect on target tracking during automatic evaluation. For this reason, a separate window appears once you have selected your basic type. This window asks you about the desired effect on target tracking you want to occur.
6.3.3
Jumper
This function is used to insert a jumper distribution into the schematic. As in the other options of the Attachment menu, autoconnecting is realized automatically, meaning that connection lines are drawn automatically between the symbols.
6.3.4
Double junction
EPLAN can only evaluate connections that have been created by the automatic connection function (autoconnect) between symbols. Double junctions are used to split the automatic connection path. Double junctions also affect target tracking during automatic evaluation. For this reason, a separate window appears once you have selected your basic type. This window asks you about the desired effect on target tracking you want to occur.
205
6.3.5
Interrupt
An automatic connection will be drawn wherever two connection points point either vertically or horizontally towards each other. This function interrupts such connections. Input involves the following steps:
Call up the function Position the cursor between two connection points. Exit the Interrupt mode, e.g. by pressing .
The interruption will be graphically displayed after the next screen refresh. An insertion point is created between the connection points. Press insertion point. to display this
6.3.6
The Specify line data menu contains the following menu items:
Individual Potentials Comparison
Move the mouse onto the menu entry in order to have information about the respective menu item in the status bar. 6.3.6.1 Individual An automatic connection will be drawn wherever two connection points point either vertically or horizontally towards each other. The line data of the connection, such as line type, line thickness, and pattern length are defined in the symbol editor at the time the symbol is created. Pen numbers for angles, nodes, etc. are specified in the graphics parameters (Graphics 3 tab, Output parameters group box). This function allows you to change the line data of a connection point. Input involves the following steps:
Call up the function Position the cursor on a connection point. An input window in which you can change
the line data for this connection is displayed. If two connecting points that have been assigned different line data point at each other, the following applies:
