AR100 FOUNDATIONS OF ART, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools This course provides instruction in the essential fundamentals of drawing and composition through application of the elements and principles of design as well as an introduction to art history and art analysis. Students in the class will be introduced to the other media courses the art department offers and learn about formal and expressive aspects while experiencing a variety of styles and subject matter. Students will have the opportunity to develop creativity, non-verbal communication, and personal artistic skills. AR120 LATINO ARTS & CULTURE, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th 12th grade Offered at NHS for students district wide This is an interdisciplinary course focusing on folk arts through contemporary trends in Latino arts. Students will study the historical and cultural contexts of the arts and their interrelationships. They will analyze and converse about the visual and performing arts. Students will create unique artworks applying artistic skills and knowledge of cultural themes and approaches. AR270 DRAWING /PAINTING 1, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credits earned in Foundations of Art Offered at all three high schools In Drawing/Painting 1 students will develop their technical and compositional skills by using a wide range of drawing media such as, graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, India ink, pastel and oil pastel. Throughout the first semester, the emphasis of the class will be drawing from observation and composition studies. Students will also keep a sketchbook or a visual/verbal journal throughout the year. During the second semester students will transition to painting. The emphasis will be to develop their technical painting skills in watercolor, tempera, and acrylic. Students will explore a variety of traditional and non-traditional subject matter such as still life, landscape, portraits, including personal ideas, taste and styles. Students will continue to develop their compositional understanding by applying the Elements and Principles of Design to their sketches, drawings and final paintings. A variety of artists will be studied as students discover how they are relevant in art history and to the individual students work. AR280 POTTERY/SCULPTURE 1, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credits earned in Foundations of Art Offered at all three high schools This class will expand on the inter-related 3-dimensional art forms of Pottery and Sculpture introduced in Foundations. Students will imagine, create and critique art works while developing skills with the use of various media, tools, and building techniques including clay and the potters wheel. Students will study art history and culture, arrive at unique solutions for 3-dimensional design problems as well as explore creative expression.

AR290 PRINT MAKING Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credits earned in Foundations of Art and Drawing/Painting 1 Offered at NHS for students district wide Printmaking is the process of creating images through the transfer of ink to paper or other material. This is a course designed for students with a strong background and interest in drawing. Students will explore different printmaking processes such as Monotype, Relief, and Screen-printing. Emphasis will be on learning responsible studio practices, developing skills, production of quality work, and portfolio development. Students will analyze and critique their own work, work of their peers, and work of professional artists. AR350 POTTERY/SCULPTURE 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credits earned in Pottery/Sculpture 1 Offered at all three high schools COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR A FEE AT NHS This second level course provides an opportunity for a deeper study of Pottery and Sculpture. With increased independence and challenging problems, students will continue to study and critically analyze these forms through history. They will continue to explore various approaches to media and further develop their ability to use creative expression. Students will begin to focus on selecting and recording pieces for their portfolio. AR360 STUDIO ART, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of two of the previous media courses and teacher recommendation. Offered at all three high schools This course is designed to offer the experienced art student an advanced study in their area(s) of interest. Emphasis will be on broadening skills, developing creativity, studio production, and portfolio development. Students will be expected to frequently reflect upon their work; identifying their strengths and limitations in order to direct their work. Students will analyze and critique their own work, work of their peers, and the work of professional artist. AR370 DRAWING/PAINTING 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credit earned in Drawing/Painting1 Offered at all three high schools This second level course provides an opportunity for a deeper study of Painting and Drawing. Students in this class will focus on these art forms as a means of communication and expression. Students will continue to expand their knowledge of 2D media, techniques, theories, and historical periods/styles in art.

AR460 ADVANCED PLACEMENT STUDIO ART, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credit earned in Studio Art Offered at NHS for students district wide COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR A FEE The ADVANCED PLACEMENT Studio Art course is intended for highly motivated students who are seriously interested in the study of art after high school. This course involved significantly more commitment and accomplishment than the typical high school art course. Emphasis will be on broadening skills, developing creativity, studio production, portfolio development, individual research, and critique. Students may opt to complete the College Board ADVANCED PLACEMENT Portfolio requirements to receive ADVANCED PLACEMENT Credit. These requirements include developing a concentration/personal direction, breadth/broadening skills and media experiences as well as demonstrating the achievement of quality work. The student may also use their portfolio from this class for application to postsecondary art schools, college scholarships, juried art exhibitions, and internships or jobs.

COMMUNICATIONS
CO100 DEBATE, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools This course deals with basic argumentation based on logical reasoning and analysis used in both competitive debating and speaking. Students study a variety of types of debate in add ion to individual speaking events. This course is geared towards competitive debating and speaking. One interscholastic competition is required. Success requires a time commitment for preparation and trips. One year of debate fulfills the state requirement for one Credit of speech. CO110 INTRO TO THEATRE, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools This is an academic and performance course in the basic skills of theatre arts. Students will learn about the many different aspects of the field, which must be combined in order to create a theatrical production, such as pantomime, comedy and dramatic acting, monologues, ensemble acting, Shakespeare, childrens theatre and auditioning. This is not solely an acting class. Some of the grading is subjective, but this is based on effort rather than talent. This course also involves academic material, so be prepared to think, work, act, and have fun all at the same time. CO200 ADVANCED DEBATE, Year, Two Credits, May Be Repeated PREREQUISITE: Grade of a C or better earned in Debate-may be repeated Offered at all three high schools COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR A FEE This course will focus on the advanced study of all types of debate and competitive speech. Advanced debate theory is studied as well as philosophical concepts associated with advanced debate study. Outside competition is required. To be successful, a student must commit time for preparation and tournament travel. CO203 SPEECH, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: 10th -12th grade REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION Offered at all three high schools Speech is a core, required course for graduation which helps students understand the process of communication involved in everyday life. The main focus of this course is on public speaking. Students strive to become articulate communicators by practicing various types of speeches. Students are exposed to lessons on how communication affects our lives, the process of communication, listening skills, interpersonal communication, building confidence, structuring speeches, choosing effective language, media studies, and speech delivery. CO210 THEATRE 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credits earned in Intro to Theatre Offered at all three high schools This course involves further study of acting and the technical aspects of theatre. The course will include units on scene work, monologues, set construction, costuming, lighting and sound, makeup, props and stage management. Also included will be a public performance, one-act plays, audition work, and the BSU Drama Festival. Enrollment will require participation outside of school.

CO240 YEARBOOK PRODUCTION, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th-12th grades with application and interview required, a B or better in English. Photography and experience in Photoshop and InDesign recommended. Offered at all three high schools. Production of the yearbook includes planning and organizing, developing leadership skills, writing, art/graphic design, advertising and photography involving school life, organization, clubs, academics, classes and sports. Students involved in yearbook are responsible for the production of the yearbook. Attendance is critical for a passing grade. CO260 COMPETITIVE SPEECH, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: None Offered at NHS for students district wide COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR A FEE This course is designed to give students an opportunity to enhance their speaking skills through class activities and interscholastic competition. Thirteen different types of speech evens will be studied in detail and students will be allowed to compete in all areas of interest. This class will emphasize the development of skills in organization, listening and responding to feedback, adaptation, preparation, platform, group and impromptu speaking. Outside competition is required. To be successful, a student must commit time for preparation and tournament travel. CO273 MASS MEDIA, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: 10th 12th grade Offered at NHS for students district wide This course helps students develop knowledge and understanding of the media. Students will study mediums such as the newspaper, radio, magazines, television, and the internet. Throughout this course students will read, write and create projects and develop a deeper understanding of the effects that each medium has on their lives and the world around them. CO310 THEATRE 3 & 4 (ADVANCED THEATRE, CHS), Year, Two Credits, May Be Repeated PREREQUISITE: Credit earned in Theatre 2 and audition-may be repeated Offered at all three high schools This performance class will include advanced acting techniques, reading of modern and classical plays and character analysis. The second semester will include a major school production, the BSU Drama Festival and scholarship auditions. Enrollment will require participation outside of school. PE100 PE 1, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 9th grade Offered at CHS PE103 TEAM SPORTS, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: None; NHS and SHS This course is a method of coping with stress and contributing to the fitness and well-being of the individual. The students in this course will specialize in a season of competitive sports participation. PE113 FITNESS, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: No more than two semester Credits total; 10th grade and credit in Team Sports. Offered at SHS for students on site This class is individually oriented and designed for students to tone, shape, and strengthen the body through the use of weights and cardiovascular exercise. PE123 9TH GRADE ATHLETIC FITNESS, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: Semester, none-NHS only and for NHS students, and participate in one sport PE133 ATHLETIC FITNESS, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: Must participate in a sport at NHS and two sports at CHS and SHS. Offered at all three high schools This class consists of weight training and activities intended to improve size, strength, speed, and agility. Physical fitness tests will be given at regular intervals to measure individual improvement. Is recommended that athletes involved in extra-curricular sports enroll in this course for the year. Any student must be participating in extra-curricular sports in order to repeat the class. PE143 GIRLS FITNESS, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: Female and must participate in a sport at NHS Offered at NHS for students on site This class consists of weight training and activities intended to improve size, strength, speed, and agility. Physical fitness tests will be given at regular intervals to measure individual improvement. Is recommended that athletes involved in extra-curricular sports enroll in this course for the year. PE173 AEROBICS, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: None Offered at NHS and CHS for students district wide Class will emphasize total body fitness through increasing the students cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility and proper weight control. Each student is expected to improve his/her present physical condition and to gain sound nutritional knowledge. Classes will include a variety of teaching methods, including interval training, weights, training stations and step.

PE183 SOCIAL DANCE 1, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools Students will learn the basics of American Social Ballroom dancing. This class will teach rhythm, coordination, balance, partnering, and aerobic endurance while learning basic dance steps. Students will learn the basics of social etiquette, refinement, and presentation. The class will also cover the historical, sociological, and cultural aspects of ballroom dance. One co-curricular performance will be required each semester (involving after school hours). PE200 PE 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th grade Offered at CHS PE203 HEALTH (NON-HEALTH PROFESSIONS EMPHASIS), Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: SHS: 10th grade; CHS, NHS: 11th grade REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION Offered at all three high schools Students will study the development of physical, social, mental, emotional and environmental health. The emphasis of this class will include instruction on how to obtain a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally. Course of study will include nutrition, stress, substance abuse, family/commitment/marriage, self-esteem, and refusal skills. PE283 SOCIAL DANCE 2, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: 10th grade & credit in Social Dance 1 OR instructor approval

Offered for all three high schools during spring semester Upperclassmen will use group performance pieces to advance their mastery of American Ballroom dancing, while enhancing their rhythm, coordination, balance, and aerobic endurance. In addition, students will improve their gracefulness, poise, and flexibility while perfecting their social etiquette, refinement, and performance capabilities. This class will focus more on theory and technique in relation to the dance steps and partnering and involve a higher understanding of the history, sociology, and culture inherent in each dance. An introduction to the International Ballroom style of dance may be included. This class is suggested for students interested in auditioning for PE 380. At least one co-curricular performance will be required each semester (involving after school hours).

Students will refine their technique and performance abilities in American and International Ballroom Dance using their historical and cultural understandings of those dances through the creating of group routines and costuming for performances or competition. MU103 MARCHING BAND, Fall Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools In the fall this course includes rehearsal & performance or precision drill routines (during the Marching Band Season, August-October). This course is open to anyone who plays a wind instrument. Music is selected for the season and performed at all home football games as well as additional competitions as chosen by the director. Rehearsal of contemporary & traditional concert band music occurs following marching season. Enrollment in concert band or wind ensemble for the spring semester is required. MU113 DRUMLINE, Fall Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools In the fall this course includes rehearsal & performance or precision drill routines (during the Marching Band Season, August-October). This course is open to anyone who plays a percussion instrument. Music is selected for the season and performed as all home football games as well as additional competitions as chosen by the director. Rehearsal of contemporary & traditional concert band music occurs following marching season. Enrollment in concert band, wind ensemble, or percussion ensemble for the spring semester is required. MU120 ORCHESTRA 1, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Experience or interest in Orchestra Offered at CHS for students district wide Participation in performances outside of school time is requires. Students are expected to enroll for the entire year. This intermediate course presents traditional orchestra literature and instrumental technical studies. May be repeated for credit. MU123 CONCERT BAND, Spring Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: None Offered at all three high schools This course is the continuation of the fall marching band or drumline class. Students will perform various styles of music as selected by the band director at concerts, festivals, and community events. Enrollment in Marching Band during fall semester is required. MU130 ORCHESTRA 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Teacher recommendation/audition. Auditions held in the spring. Participation in performances outside of school time is required. Offered at CHS for students district wide Students are expected to enroll for the entire year. This advanced course represents traditional orchestra literature and instrumental technical studies. May be repeated for Credit. MU133 WIND ENSEMBLE, Spring Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: 10th 12th grade. Audition required Offered at SHS and NHS This course is the continuation of the fall marching band or drumline class. This is the top instrumental ensemble & students will perform various styles of advanced music as selected by the band director at concerts, festivals, and community events. Enrollment in Marching Band during fall semester is required.

MU143 PIANO LAB, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: (no prior primary piano instruction, for 10, 11, 12 grade students only) Offered at CHS for students district wide This course is designed for students new to the study of the piano. All students will begin class piano instruction from the very beginninglearning the basics of reading and playing music for the piano. Participation in the course requires the purchase of the selected textbook/lesson materials. Due to space and equipment, enrollment is limited. MU150 CONCERT CHOIR, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: none Offered at all three high schools Class will focus on music literacy in regards to the art of choral music. Differing time periods of music will be studied and performed with the intent that students familiarize themselves with the history and culture of the music. Performances will take place outside of the school day and are required to earn the credit. Practice outside of the normal school day is expected. Literature will be chosen in relation to ensemble ability and experience. MU170 ADVANCED PLACEMENT MUSIC THEORY/FORM, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Junior or senior standing, concurrent membership in a music ensemble or instructor approval for students of piano and guitar. Offered at SHS for students district wide COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR A FEE Students enrolled in music theory will study the key elements to music literacy, which includes note reading, basic notation, rhythm, triads in their various inversions, all keys and modes, as well as form and analysis. Ear training, basic composition, and sight singing are essential parts of the class. The course is offered for Advanced Placement and concurrent credit through Boise State University. MU183 MUSIC THEORY/TECH, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: Consent of instructor or concurrent enrollment in piano lessons, band, choir, or orchestra Offered at NHS for students district wide Students enrolled in music theory/technology will study the structure of music, as outlined in Tonal Harmony (Payne/Kostka), demonstrate basic piano proficiency, and study jazz theory. Ear training, basic composition, and sight singing are essential parts of the class. Technology aspects of the course include instruction/composition using Finale score writing software, SmartMusic practical software, and vocal/instrumental practical applications therein. This course may be repeated for credit. MU193 GUITAR, Semester, One Credit PREREQUISITE: none Offered at SHS and CHS for students district wide MU210 JAZZ BAND 3, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Current enrollment in Marching/Concert Band/Wind Ensemble and audition. Offered at NHS only Auditions for this select ensemble are held in the spring for fall enrollment. Students will perform various styles of music as selected by the band director at concerts, festivals, and community events, including some basketball games.

MU220 JAZZ BAND 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Current enrollment in Marching/Concert Band/Wind Ensemble and audition. Offered at NHS and SHS only Auditions for this select ensemble are held in the spring for fall enrollment. Students will perform various styles of music as selected by the band director at concerts, festivals, and community events, including some basketball games. MU230 JAZZ BAND 1, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th-12th grade or by permission of instructor, current enrollment in Marching/ Concert Band/Wind Ensemble and audition Offered at all three high schools Auditions for this select ensemble are held in the spring for fall enrollment. This is the top jazz ensemble & students will perform various styles of advanced music as selected by the band director at concerts, festivals, and community events, including some basketball games. MU240 SELECT WOMENS CHOIR (VOCE, CHS), Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 9th through 12th Treble voice and audition Offered at SHS and CHS for students district wide This class is for soprano and alto voices that enjoy singing literature in three and four parts from all periods and styles. Emphasis will be on beginning and intermediate choral skills such as tone production, breathing, diction, as well as stressing music literacy in notation and sight singing. Class members will be expected to perform in concerts outside of the regular school day and participate in schoolsponsored choral events. Some travel may be required. Class may be repeated for Credit MU250 SELECT MIXED CHOIR (BRIO, CHS, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th through 12th grade and audition offered at CHS & SHS, 9th grade through 12th grade at NHS Auditions for this choir are held in the spring for fall enrollment and members are expected to commit to this group for the entire year. Emphasis will be on developing advanced choral skills. Literature will be selected from traditional and contemporary works. Participation in concerts outside the regular school day is required. Students will perform for the community, peers, and at IMEA-sanctioned festivals as well as at regional choral festivals. Members will be encouraged to audition for extracurricular groups and ensembles. Some travel may be required. MU350 MADRIGAL CHOIR, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th - 12th grade with instructor approval. Offered at SHS for students district wide The choir will study the music suited best to small ensembles and strive to achieve accurate performance practice for these pieces. Emphasis will be placed on developing music literacy and accurate ensemble singing. Special attention will be paid to music history and theory as it pertains to the repertoire. Members of the groups will be required to participate in extracurricular practices and performances.

LA100 ENGLISH 1/ 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: None Offered at NHS and SHS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION PART OF A FRESHMAN HOUSE AT SHS This course advances student learning in the writing process, reading comprehension, literary terminology, and language usage. Ninth grade English classes are a part of the Freshman House which also includes Communications, Physical Science, and US History. LA200 ENGLISH 3/ 4, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 10th grade Offered at NHS and SHS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION PART OF A SOPHOMORE HOUSE AT SHS This course is designed to expand on concepts taught in ninth grade. Students will read from multiple genres to understand complex literary elements. Writing encompasses multiple genres but focuses primarily on research techniques and persuasion. Tenth grade English classes are a part of the Sophomore House, which also includes the Biology, Communications, and US History classes. LA300 ENGLISH 5/ 6, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 11th grade Offered at NHS and SHS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION In this course, students examine a variety of literary genres primarily from American authors. They will develop and extend critical thinking, reading, and writing as they read both classical and popular literature. Students will be required to research, compose, and complete written projects in a variety of formats. Students will access, interpret, and apply knowledge in both the study of literature and composition. Research at this level focuses on secondary research with special emphasis on evaluation and using sources.

LA 310 ADVANCED PLACEMENT LANGUAGE, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 11th grade Offered at SHS for NHS and SHS students COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE IF STUDENT PASSES EXAM An ADVANCED PLACEMENT course in English Language and Composition engages students in becoming skilled readers of prose written in a variety of rhetorical contexts, and in becoming skilled writers who compose for a variety of purposes. Both their writing and their reading should make students aware of the interactions among a writers purposes, audience expectations, and subjects, as well as the way genre conventions and the resources of language contribute to effectiveness in writing. LA330 AUTO ENGLISH 5/6, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 11th Grade and enrolled in Auto Tech Academy Offered at NHS With applications related to the auto technology industry, students examine a variety of literary genres. Students will access, interpret, and apply knowledge in both the study off literature and composition. Research at this level focuses on secondary research with special emphasis on evaluation and using sources. LA340 ENGLISH 5/6 HEALTH PROFESSIONS ACADEMY, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 11th grade and enrolled in Health Professions Academy Offered at SHS With applications related to the health professions industry, students examine a variety of literary genres. Students will access, interpret, and apply knowledge in both the study off literature and composition. Research at this level focuses on secondary research with special emphasis on evaluation and using sources. LA350 ENGLISH 5/6 PROFESSIONAL INTERESTED IN EDUCATION (PIE) PREREQUISITE: 11th grade and enrolled in P.I.E. Offered at CHS With applications related to the education profession, students examine a variety of literary genres. Students will access, interpret, and apply knowledge in both the study off literature and composition. LA360 ENGLISH 5/6 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING ACADEMY PREREQUISITE: 11th grade Information Technology/Engineering Academy student Offered at CHS With applications related to IT and engineering, students examine a variety of literary genres. Students will access, interpret, and apply knowledge in both the study of literature and composition. Research at this level focuses on secondary research with special emphasis on evaluation and using sources.

TI320 WELDING 2, Year, Four Credits PREREQUISITE: 11th grade and credits earned in Welding 1 Offered at SHS for students district wide Students are to develop skills in oxyacetylene welding and cutting, arc welding, shop layout, basic shop math, mechanical drawing, and MIG (manual inert gas, wire feed) welding. I add ion, plasma arc cutting/welding theory, robotics, flux core welding, and basic TIG welding will be covered. TI330 DRAFTING 3, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 12th grade and Credits earned in Drafting 2 Offered at SHS for students district wide As a capstone course the student will be allowed to choose the discipline of drafting they intend to study in college. Architecture Drafting: Using 3D software we will draw house plans with all structural details and plans; floor, elevations, sections, site, foundation, roof structure and electrical. Mechanical drafting: Students will learn advanced mechanical drafting drawings. Using 3D software students will go in depth on the design process for mechanical projects. Dimensioning for machining, and manufacturing. This class will have a senior project as a capstone course approved by the instructor.

TI350 CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: 11th-12th grades and Credits earned in Construction Technology 1 or Construction Technology 1/Set Design Offered at SHS for students district wide The year long course will offer advanced knowledge and skills application from skills learned in Construction Technology 1. Both model construction and live work will provide students with hands-on experience. Additional concepts will include foundation, truss construction, staircase design, insulation principles, and job s e coordination. TI370 PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Introduction to Engineering Design, concurrent enrollment in Geometry or higher, or instructor approval. Offered at CHS for students district wide This Academy of Engineering concentrator course helps students understand the field of engineering/engineering technology. Exploring various technology systems and manufacturing processes help students learn how engineers and technicians use math, science and technology in an engineering problem solving process to benefit people. Some of the topics covered include mechanisms, thermodynamics, and fluid systems, electrical systems, and control systems, strength of materials, statics, and kinematics. Concurrent College Credits are available from NNU. TI380 SMALL ENGINE REPAIR 2, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Credit earned in Small Engine Repair 1 Offered at NHS for students district wide A course designed to provide students with small engine repair applications. Students will be expected to diagnose and repair community equipment failures and make proper recommendations for maintenance of equipment to customers. TI390 AEROSPACE ENGINEERING, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Principles of Engineering, Concurrent enrollment in Algebra 2 or higher, instructor approval. Offered at CHS for students district wide This Academy of Engineering concentrator course uses hands-on engineering projects developed in conjunction with NASA. Students learn about aerodynamics, astronautics, space-life sciences, and systems engineering (which includes the study of intelligent vehicles like the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity). TI400 AUTO BODY 3, Year, Four Credits, meets daily PREREQUISITE: 12th grade, grade earned in Auto Body 2 and approval of Academy Instructor and Advisory Board. Offered at NHS for students district wide Advanced instruction is straightening, replacing panels, and refinishing of autos, including conventional and unibody construction is provided. Job estimating and cost control relative to body shop management is taught. TI410 AUTO MECHANICS 3, Year, Four Credits, meets daily PREREQUISITE: 12th grade, grade earned in Auto Mechanics 2 and approval of Academy Instructor and Advisory Board. Offered at NHS for students district wide COLLEGE CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR A FEE This phase will be guided experience on different kinds of cars, using the basic knowledge gained in Auto Mechanics 1 and 2. Site management, OSHA rules and regulations, material safety data sheets, subcontractor performance is presented. Jobsites are visited and relationships are developed with state and local contractors. TI480 SMALL ENGINE REPAIR 3, Year, Four Credits PREREQUISITE: 12th grade and Credits earned in Small Engine Repair 2 Offered at NHS for students district wide A course designed to provide student with team work, critical thinking, problem solving, diagnostics, and repairing to industry standards. Students should be familiar with all types of equipment, engines, and power trains associated with small engines. This will include lawn and garden equipment as well as recreational equipment such as outboard engines, snowmobiles, motorcycles, watercraft and industrial applications. TI580 ENGINEERING DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT, Year, Two Credits PREREQUISITE: Digital Electronics* or Aerospace Engineering*, concurrent enrollment in Algebra 2 or higher, instructor approval. (*Students must have taken or be concurrently enrolled in this class) Offered at SHS for students district wide This academy capstone course allows students to design a solution to a technical problem of their choosing. Students will learn about engineering research in this course and will work in teams to research, design, test, and construct a solution to an open-ended engineering problem. The team presents and defends their solution to a panel of outside reviewers at the conclusion of the course. Concurrent College Credits are available from NNU.

OT110 UPWARD BOUND, Semester or Year, One Credit per Semester PREREQUISITE: 9th 12th grades. Students must meet the program requirements through an application and interview process with the Boise State University staff prior to registration. Offered at NHS. See counselor for more information and application process. Upward Bound is a federally funded pre-college program designed to help students successfully graduate from high school (with the help of ISAT remediation), explore future career options, learn new study skills, prepare students for taking college entrance exams, research higher education opportunities, find financial aid/scholarships for college, and build essential reading, writing, computer, and math skills essential for success in a program of post-secondary education. Participation in the Upward Bound program also includes outside activities such as college tours, cultural and social events, service learning opportunities, paid internship possibilities and a residential summer school program at Boise State University which simulates the college life experience. To qualify you must be a 9th or 10th grade student (for initial entrance into the program) and either be the first in your family to graduate from college or come from a limited income household. If you are interested in the program, you must first contact the Upward Bound Instructor or your counselor, and then fill out an application.
