1.Download

We need to do the following steps: 1- Go to: http://webmin/download.htmland download the package

2- When download is complete we will find an icon with .Deb extension.

2.Install

1- Update the information repositories (essential before installing any application)

sudo aptitude update

2- Now install a number of packages that we need to install Webmin and that is configured with SSL:

sudo aptitude install perl libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl apt-show-versions

3- Go to /Home directory with:

cd /home

4- Install:

sudo dpkg -i webmin_1.520_all.deb

3.Connection

Start your browser and write in the URL browser your IP address finished with :10000 (the webmins port)

We dont have the certificate so appears this page. Clic in I Understand the Risks

Now the address bar appears like this:

In the login box we try to connect with asir user

But we cant do it so after several attempts it deny the Access:

4.Settings

We have the next services installed

If want to install other services we must go to Software Packages

In this page:

1. Clic on Package from APT 2. Clic on Search APT 3. Clic on the Install button to start

In the second step doing clic on the button it appears this page:

Where we write the name of package to find the exact name of it.

Install starts and we can see that is the same as an Ubuntu install with the apt-get install command:

(For this manual we had already installed it so the software show us that it have the newest version)

5.File: /etc/hosts

Is very tired having to write the IP address all times in the browser so we are going to configure the /etc/hosts file. Doing this all people can go Webmin writing www.princee.es, for example, istead of the IP 192.168.13.148 Easier to type and remember it!

Open the file with gedit:

gedit /etc/hosts

Write

127.0.0.1 www.princee.es

Now we can go again to the browser and type:

www.princee.es:10000
