Wireless RRH Evolving Technology Solution 2G, 3G, 4G

Overview
The company
E-Blink develops alternative solutions for the deployment of base stations for mobile networks. Created in 2005 and headquartered in France, the company aims to revolutionize mobile networks by creating a new industry standard: a Wireless Remote Radio Head link (Wireless RRH)connecting the BTS and the Antenna. Its products are currently being installed on base stations in Europe. The Companys founders have over 15 years of experience in the deployment of international mobile networks.

Vision
Wireless Remote Radio Head and Wireless Active Antennas will share the market with wired technologies

Business Model
We Design, develop and market wireless solutions We Outsource production, logistics and maintenance

The concept
Meeting the increasing demands of communication traffic represents a major challenge to mobile networks, as they are faced with complex and expensive densification requirements. On base stations, the coaxial cables typically installed between antennas and their radio equipment pose significant limitations to the growth and upgrade of networks; due to their heavy impact on buildings and structures, installation of cables / fibre not only limits the evolution of existing sites, but also rule out many potential new sites. E-Blinks core product line, Wireless RRH, is a revolutionary system that eliminates the need for coaxial cables or short range fibre optics on base stations.

Customer benefits
Mobile network deployment involves three important phases: negotiation, conception and installation. For each of these phases, the Wireless RRH system provides significant advantages in terms of time, cost and performance quality. Applications
The Wireless RRH solution is ideal for all types of base station sites - including pylons, watertowers, churches, light poles and moving platforms. Thanks to the systems generic design, it can be adapted to function with other networks (PCS, LTE, Wimax, PMR..) and the development of these applications is a part of E-Blinks product roadmap. Please contact us if you have questions about a particular type of site, or would like to receive a personalized case study.

Wireless RRH applications

ROOF TOPS:

The E-Blink Wireless Remote Radio Head solution is perfectly adapted for BTS sites located on rooftops or terraces, for both new installations and upgrades. The Wireless RRH system avoids the problems associated with excavating through several residential or business floors, and eliminates the risk of damage to water-tight roof areas. In addition, a wireless link between the BTS radio cabin and the network antenna allows for the site to be repositioned if necessary.

WATER TOWERS: The Wireless RRH system

is particularly well-suited for sites on water towers or similar functional structures, which provide a service to the local community and are subject to strict health and safety guidelines. Cables are problematic for these sites, due to limitations in the installation of hardware in or on the structure itself. In these conditions, a wireless link between the BTS radio cabin and the network antenna is the ideal solution.

HISTORIC

The inner structure of such buildings usually does not provide a good support for radio cables, and reinforcing this structure can be very expensive and risk causing damage. The Wireless RRH solution is ideal for BTS sites where the antenna is placed inside a church steeple, for example.

BUILDINGS:

PYLONS:

Generally, pylons are already installed and have been designed to support a given weight and wind loading for antennas & cable. Upgrading these sites is problematic, since it involves installing additional or heavier antennas and cable. Reinforcing foundations or masts and re-routing cable can be costly in terms of negotiations, planning & construction. The Wireless RRH solution is optimum for this type of upgrade, whether the BTS site is in an open field or on a building.

Wireless RRH Benefits and Criteria

Benefits and Criteria of Usage:
Many obstacles facing mobile operators when deploying new sites or upgrading existing ones relate to the challenge of installing coaxial or fibre cables. Cables required between the base stations and the radio antennas pose significant limitations, making site negotiation and deployment an arduous task. The Wireless-RRH solution is an alternative to the traditional fibre optics or coaxial cables, providing the mobile operators with benefits in terms of time, cost and performance. Replacing cables with a radio link reduces the capital expenditure associated in building a site, decreases the complexity and shortens time both in the negotiation and the deployment of a cellular site, thereby resulting in financial benefits. The solution also eliminates the visual impact associated with cables on conventional base stations sites. The economic aspect of Wireless RRH improves as site complexity increases bringing flexibility to site selection and optimisation, releasing complex sites that are blocked because of high cost or difficultly to install cables. Turning sites on-air faster bring revenues which would otherwise be lost.

The time required for the acquisition of a site varies between 12 to 36 months depending upon the search area (dense-urban, sub-urban, rural) and the complexity of the site. It is common to see sites blocked for several years due to site acquisition or negotiation issues. Using Wireless RRH generates great financial benefits, particularly when factoring in sites lost or delayed due to constraints imposed by cabling.

Quality performance at a significant global cost savings:

Wireless RRH Benefits and Criteria

Consideration criteria for the use of Wireless RRH:
The Wireless RRH solution resolves numerous difficulties linked to the installation of cable tray, trunking or conduit, grounding and other fixations required when installing optical or coaxial feeders. In particular, it releases all the associated civil works in particular trenches, etc. that becomes unnecessary and eases electrical power connection. The Wireless RRH solution facilitates deployment and renders eligible many of the sites that were previously systematically avoided due to their high complexity and cost.

When to use the Wireless RRH solution

When the cost criteria of the site with a classic feeder deployment is excessive
The Wireless RRH solution offers financial savings and benefits for medium or high complexity sites where traditional installation with cables can reach high figures.

When the coaxial cable length is excessive

Standard coaxial cables can present limitations in respect of signal loss. Typically sites which have feeder lengths in excess of around 50 meters require a larger diameter cables which compounds the problems. Wireless RRH is transparent to the distance between the base station and the network antenna and can accommodate signal distance of up to 100 meters.

When the civil works are mandatory

The cost of civil works in respect of cabling (trench, resurfacing, any works) can escalate rapidly on many sites. When using the Wireless RRH solution, these civil work costs are removed and the overall capital expenditure for the site build-up is controlled.

When there is a blockage on a site negotiation

The Wireless RRH solution can unblock sites that were blocked for many years. The return on investment for the operator is then very quick on such sites.

When the operator wishes maintain his deployment objectives throughout the year
The duration of the radio planning, the site search, the site negotiation and the site deployment are much better mastered with the Wireless RRH solution.

For new site typologies

The Wireless RRH solution can be installed on any type of typology from the easier roof top or pylon site to the more complex installations involving water towers, churches, prestige buildings, electricity towers, historical monuments, silos, where the installation of cable becomes ever more problematic.
