Café Ballendat

Problem: To develop a new chair concept that fits within an established

family of form while also employing modern design cues.
These chairs represent the current Café line from MTS,
the common elements include swaged tubing in the
legs, wood seats and backs and being lightweight.
These chairs are also seat on seat stackers. For a new
design MTS wanted to add to this family of form and
add leg on leg stacking for greater durability and value.
Café Ballendat
It was very important that the manufacturing process for this new design
used as much tooling and processes already in existence and minimize in
new set up costs. 90% of the tooling and jigs were already in use in the
building process of current chairs. These cost cutting measures allow for
quicker prototyping and more thorough explanantion of form.
Leg on leg stacking is the characteristic of
true stacking chair, not commonly found in a
lightweight chair. The merging of two styles
allows for a greater utility.
Café Ballendat

The final model is a welcome member to the Café line and also represents
a new option for restraunt and café owners seeking an attractive and
durable seating solution.
Wildabeast This is the first of many soft good products to be offered by Sleepytank
Fabrications. It is a medium sized hip pack meant to be worn on the hip
not behind or in front mlike a traditional “fanny pack”. It is designed to be
comfortable to walk with as well as to wear when riding a bicycle.
Wildabeast The “Wildabeast” hip pack is a solid yet comfortable way to carry a small
amount of stuff as well as a mini u-lock without having to take a whole
messenger bag. It is a good alternative for social outings as well as for
alleycats and group rides.
Lysa Problem: Design a lighting solution with inspiration from a feature film.
Lysa My inspiration for this lamp was George Clooney’s character Danny
Ocean from the film remake of Ocean’s 11. I focused on three
characteristic words: subtle, debonair and classic. These words were then
used in an image scale map, a tool that helps a designer explore other
ways of describing an idea.
Lysa This lamp expresses the simplicity that is commonly found in Ikea design.
Problem: To design and develop an
inclusive computer, specifically targeting
the on-the-go computer user. The
computer should be designed with a
debut of 2010 in mind.
An ultra mobile with all the usability of a
full sized tablet, the perfect on-the-go
computer. Featuring an integrated stylus
and a full qwerty keyboard, this device
will allow you to increase your
productivity and efficiency.
