Migros eco Criteria

Within the MIGROS eco-Program the following criteria and requirements are the platform for the auditing and optimization procedures.

Phase I

Each producer has to assure the sustainable fulfilment of the Migros eco Criteria on a systematic base. Complete and detailed documentation: a. on all production steps by completed and signed audit questionnaires b. on all used substances by Material Safety Data Sheets and/or questionnaires for auxiliary and colorant producers including toxicity and ecological data

No use of chlorine containing bleaching agents (with the exception of specific cases). No use of dyestuffs/ colorants: which can form through decomposition of one or several azo groups one of the restricted amines (as to Directive 2002/61/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 July 2002 amending for the nineteenth time Council Directive 76/769/EEC and the Demand for Revision PE 290.130/1-6 dated 06. June 2000).

which are classified as carcinogenic as listed in Annex I* which are classified as allergenic as listed in Annex I* with an acute Toxicity less than LD50 (oral,Rat) of 200mg/kg, classified as toxic.

No use of chlorinated phenols. No use of Chrome VI compounds. No us of chlorinated carriers. No use of PVC. No use of TBT/DBT and other organic tin compounds. No use of forbidden flame retardant substances. No use of Kerosene, MTO (Mineral Turpentine Oil) or similar products in printing. No use of phthalates (regularised phthalates according to the regulation of the EDI of 23.11.2005 on products with skin, mucosa and hair contact [...] (HkGgstV, as at 12.12.2006), SR 817.023.41 No use of antimicrobial finishing (with the exception of specific cases). Reduction, e.g. avoidance of ecologically relevant and harmful substances during production (e.g. heavy metals, formaldehyde, APEO, phthalates, antimicrobial auxiliaries, etc.). Compliance with all national and /or regional laws and/or regulations about exhaust air, waste (solid/liquid) and effluent water treatment as per national or regional legislation.

The compliance with the Migros eco-criteria has to be proven by a full documentation of all dyestuffs used for the dyeing process or reliable test results and reports on the above mentioned amines.

The nickel release of all accessories like zippers, buttons, rivets etc. should not exceed 0.5 g/cm2/week. The compliance with the Migros eco-criteria has to be proven by reliable test results on the nickel release.

No use of Cadmium. No use of PVC (as well as phthalates according to paragraph 11. and cadmium paragraph 17.).

Exclusion of all pigments based on amines of class MAK III, category 1 and category 2. Documentation of toxity data of all used substances. Evaluation of recycling possibilities for all substances in use.
