As-is Situation

When are changes to the chart of accounts necessary?

One or more digits should be added to the existing account numbers Accounts should be merged The chart of accounts should be harmonized Different units in the company (e.g. a service and a production unit ) are using the same chart of accounts should be changed

How will the conversion be realized?

The conversion covers master data, transaction data and customizing data Standard as well as customer-specific tables will be converted The relevant data will be changed directly at database level The system will look after conversion as if it had always been in the new state

Following mapping tables are possible:
General ledger accounts / primary cost elements Secondary cost elements Other accounts Languages

If certain prerequisites are met, it is also possible to convert several chart of accounts in one step. A chart of accounts conversion has to be done for all company codes that belong to the affected controlling area, because they use the same chart of accounts. The conversion must be coordinated with the auditor.

Prerequisites for a Conversion Project

Test system
The test system is reserved exclusively for the conversion The hardware must be as similar as possible to production system Current copy of productive system It must be possible to carry out transports from the test system into the production system

Authorization
The Service Delivery specialist needs the SAP_ALL authorization in all systems that you want to convert

Two test conversions

First tests starts twelve to fourteen weeks before production conversion Conversion of complete system and checking of the results by the customer Written confirmation of success of the conversion by the customer

Production conversion
Usually during one weekend Conversion of the complete system and application tests by the customer

Application tests (after each test conversion)

The test procedures have to be defined by the customer Detailed checking that the system is converted correctly and there are no inconsistencies
