The Basic / Dragging and Dropping
1. To create a new Pentaho Analyzer Re port click on the New Analyzer Re port icon.

Select Sa mple Data: Quadrant Analysis from the available data sources then click the O K button. Note: This will the n ope n the Pentaho Analyzer report interface. Your unsaved report is in the center ca nvas area with your available fie lds listed on the right.

From the Availa ble Fields section, drag a nd drop Depart ment to the center canvas.

Add measures to your report by dragging the measure f ields Actua l, Budget, and Variance to the right of Depart ment.

Drag the Posit ions fie ld on to the canvas and drop it between depart ment and your first measure.

Note: You should now have a report that displays all Depart me nts broken down by Posit ion.
6. Drag the Region f ield on to the canvas above the Actua l, Budget, and Variance measures.

Note: Your report now shows more granular deta ils about ea ch Depart ment and Position by Region.

Filtering and Customization

7. Right click the Region fie ld a nd se lect the F ilter opt ion from the menu.

From the f ilter dia log select the value Central and click the right arrow button to se lect it then click OK.

Note: This report is now filtered to only display values for the Central region.

Right click on the Actual F ield and sele ct Condit ional Formatting and choose a formatting option.

10. Click on the More button at the top right of the report canvas and se lect Set Report Options from menu.

11. Check the values for Show Gra nd Totals for Rows, Show Gra nd Totals for Columns, and Show Drill Through links on Number ce lls and Click O K button.

Note: Your Report now displays row and column totals and the measure values now link to drill through data.

12. Right C lick on the Posit ion fie ld in the report and select Re move from Report.

13. Click on the Link value for any measure to see the drill through data on that value then close the dia log.

14. At the top right of the report canvas click on the chart icon to see the report as a bar chart. 15. Click on the down arrow next to the chart icon and se lect the Pie Chart opt ion from the menu.

16. Click the More button at the top right of the report canvas and se lect Export report option. You can select PDF, Excel or CSV.

Advanced Options
17. Click the More button at the top right of the report canvas and se lect :Set Chart Options..." Here you can ma ke formatt ing changes to modify the charts design.

18. Right click on the depart ment header in the report and select the "hyperlink" option. This will a llow you to create a link to other content in the Pentaho Repos itory or URL.

19. You can a lso Disable "Auto Refresh" to design your report without fetching data until you are ready. Click on the "Auto Refresh" button to disable Auto refresh. This will open the fie ld layout pa nel. Here you can drag and drop fie lds in the Row Labels, Column Header a nd Number Rows. Drag and drop fie lds to reorder or drag fie lds to the trash to re move the m fro m the report.

20. With the "Layout Pane " open switch to chart vie w. re move the "Varia nce" field from the 'Numbers" row. Click the Mult i-chart button and add the posit ion field to the "Y-ax is" to view mult iple charts by depart me nt with a brea kdown of "Actual' and "Budget" by "Posit ion."

You have now created a Pentaho Analyzer Report. You may want to continue to select fields and preview sorting, filtering or defining calculated values. Note - For demo purposes the Save option has been disabled.
