KIDS TURN DIVORCE AND SEPARATION WORKSHOP The mission of Kids Turn San Diego is to promote, support and secure the well-being of all children who are experiencing the challenges of family separation. Military and Veteran families face many challenges, and consequently, higher incidences of divorce, separation and family turmoil. High stress, long periods away from home and continually changing family roles all add to the potential of a failed marriage. Kids Turn is the only organization in Southern California working exclusively with military and veteran families to ensure that all parents learn to accomplish a child-centered, healthy divorce/separation. Children will be taught how to express their thoughts and feelings and develop good coping skills while they learn that the divorce is not their fault. The entire family is encouraged to participate. Parents and children attend their own groups, facilitated by group leaders experienced in working with military families. This is a tough topic however we must provide our Marines, Sailors and families with recourses. Thia a 4 session workshop on 2/21, 2/23, 2/28 and 3/1 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Libby Lakes Community Center, 4700 N. River Road, Oceanside 92057. While there are no credible threats directed against Miramar at this time, there are known Al Qaeda sympathizers within San Diego County. If you watch the news you know that it only takes one disturbed individual with a gun to create havoc. The Commanding Officer needs continued vigilance from all hands stationed at Miramar. This includes family members and civilian employees aboard the installation. If you see something that doesn't look right (i.e. suspicious behavior), report it to PMO using the Eagle Eyes phone number (877) 356-3937. The Eagle Eyes system is designed to capture reports of suspicious behavior and get that information to law enforcement so they can conduct an investigation in a timely fashion. Reminders: - Be alert in large crowds or gatherings - Be careful of what you put on social media sites. This information can be used against you by criminals. - Be aware of travel restrictions to Mexico and the timelines for getting command approval for your visit. - Be prepared. Develop a family Emergency Action Plan and know what to do during a disaster/emergency. SAVE THE DATE LES SPRING DATES 24-26 APRIL 2012 It is time for the Spring 20121 Leadership Education Seminar.
