digital Satellite Technology.

VSAT
Tr a n s c e n d i n g p h y s i c a l c a b le l i n e connections, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) facilitates reliable digital data, video and voice transmissions directly via satellite. It offers a cost-effective means of implementing a high quality, reliable communications link to widely distributed sites or isolated areas. It can be designed to serve as both broadcast and interactive applications via voice, data, multimedia or video, which are currently served by terrestrial lines over a single stream of transmission.

VSAT features
Star network topology - Offers end-toend solutions via hub services for private networking requirements. Full mesh connectivity - Provides a hubless network using only one satellite hop, offers lower delay and better response times.

VSAT benefits
Wide area coverage - Satellite co m m u n i ca t i o n o f fe rs b o rd e r le ss communication within the coverage area. Rapid deployment - For new sites within an existing network. Cost effective - As the pricing is independent of distance. Flexibility and efficiency - Network co n f i g u r a t i o n c h a n g e s s u c h a s bandwidth, interfaces, data rates, etc. can be performed remotely from the central Network Management System. Independent of terrestrial infrastructures - Due to its nature, chances of communication errors for VSAT services is less probable compared to terrestrial lines due to significantly less connection points. Reliability and Availability - Satellite communication gives more than 99.7% availability. No local loop issues - As it is installed directly on the customer's site, it is independent of terrestrial backhaul co st s , i n f lex i b i l i t y w i t h i n c re a s i n g bandwidth, and terrestrial link availability.

Why choose

VSAT?
The VSAT satellite dish is small, easily transportable and installation lead-time is much shorter compared to terrestrial links. It allows for rapid, low-cost network reconfiguration and expansion. Cost effective transmission and network operations via C-band satellite frequency, Frequency Times Division Multiple Access (FTDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) or Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). It offers a wide range of protocols and features, providing extraordinary flexibility and virtually unlimited expansion capabilities. The network is typically engineered to achieve more than 99.7% end-to-end availability for all locations. It features a customised pricing structure to suit a variety of budgets.

Bandwidth-on-Demand - Architecture automatically allocates a pool of bandwidth to meet customer requirements of any site. Scalability of network capacity aggregate network capacity can increased from time to time as number of sites and volume per grows. The be the site

Modularity and open system architecture - Supports modular and open system architecture. The customer can expand the number of interfaces at the indoor unit as he/she requires. Economics of statistical multiplexing Multiple applications share the same bandwidth. The customer uses and pays for less total bandwidth Network Management and Control Operational 24x7, TheNetwork Management system (NMS) is able to detect problems at an early stage, for operation continuity.

VSAT applications
VSAT is able to support the following applications and many other Internet Protocol (IP) based services: Point Of Sales (PoS) transaction Internet Access High Speed Data Transmission Digital Media Streaming Video Conferencing Corporate Intranet and Extranets Distance Education IP Telephony Virtual Private Networks Multi-broadcasting

VSAT StarNet
StarNet is a customisable private network, designed for data, multimedia and voice applications. It provides highly reliable communications between a central hub and almost any number of geographically dispersed sites. It integrates both high-speed Internet access and video multicasting capabilities. It also enables interactive, transaction-oriented applications including point-of-sale, inventory control, on-line stock trading and distance training. StarNet utilises the star network which is suitable for point to multi-point communication for customers having a single data centre requiring connectivity to its branches in geographically dispersed locations. StarNet supports transmission bandwidth of up to 38Mbps. One of the advantages of Star topology is that the hub can maintain effective control of the network through centralised processing. It is well suited for business traffic from the hub at the company headquarters and individual VSATs located at field offices, retail outlets or branches.

Slotted Aloha Enables low bandwidth applications to have immediate access to the network. This powerful feature minimises latency and is particularly suited for transactional applications such as lotteried, Point-of-Sale (PoS) and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

VSAT offers the following packages, which a re tailor made to suit your communication requirements:

VSAT Narrowband (speeds lower than 64 kbps ) VSAT Broadband (speeds from 64 kbps & above) VSAT Internet Access & Telephony

VSAT StarNet
Features
Bandwidth on Demand (BOD) Allows users to seamlessly increase bandwidth whenever it is needed and as long as it is required. BOD is ideal for VOIP applications as well as infrequent large file transfers. Committed Information Rate (CIR) Provides users with near instantaneous availability of all the bandwidth in their SLA. It is ideal for guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) applications. CIR Reallocation Offers CIR when the user requires it, but if its not used, it becomes available to the entire network. Allows operators to fully utilise their bandwidth resources.
