Welcoming Place
Deception Bay Library is reaching out to the local Indigenous population through the addition of a Welcoming Place. The well-resourced Indigenous focus space is the third of its kind in Moreton
Bay Region Libraries, with other Welcoming Places at Caboolture and Bribie Island libraries. A digital artwork by David Williams depicting the land and sea of Deception Bay provides a visual focus for
the area. The space can be accessed by all members of the community and features information, resources, newspapers, book lists, flags, a noticeboard and seating. The project was established in partnership with
Murriajabree ATSI Assoc Inc and will help serve Indigenous people living in the Deception Bay area. An official opening will be held at Deception Bay Library on 3 July, at 3pm.
