Administration of Vitamin D Analog to New Onset Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Patients to Restore Pancreatic Beta Cell Function

This project is investigating the effect of vitamin D analogs on the pancreatic beta cell function in newly diagnosed patients with type 1 diabetes. The project is based on a hypothesis proposing that vitamin D analog supplementation in newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic patients will preserve the pancreatic beta cell function, resulting in better glucose control and less insulin use.
