i)Pope stated that is was immoral to lend money

ii)only people who are allowed to lend money were Jewish

iii)all debt collectors, in turn, are Jewish people

c) The Plague

i)disease that killed 1/3 of European population

ii)Jewish people didn't get sick

iii)because of the Dietary laws prevented them from getting the Plague

iv)People [not knowing why the Jewish people were the only people not to get sick] thought

they must have been behind the cause of the plague.

5. Adolf Hitler

a)fought in World War I

i)becomes a great speaker

ii)becomes the head of this small party

iii)gets 5% in the Reichstag (German Legislature)

iv)leads a revolution attempt in a small town in Germany, and arrest

iv) Party changes to "Nazi" Party

-Hitler outlines his plans

--including the Final Solution and enslavement of the Slav population in Europe

e) Rise of Nazi Party

i) Hitler released

ii) Nazi Party wins the most seats

iii) Coalition with Communist party to get majority

-Communist party did so under Stalin's orders

--he believed the Nazi party would make Germany a weaker country and a weaker threat to

the Soviet Union's security

iv) Nazi party has a strong hold of government

v) Hitler runs for Chancellor [head of the government] and wins in second attempt, easily

vi)Start passing laws

-anti-Semitic laws

-boy scouts banned and replaced with Hitler youth

vii) starts using propaganda

ix) Economy recovers

-eliminates enemies

-SS start to rise as police force in Germany

III. Italy

1. Disappointed after Treaty of Versailles

2. Constitutional Monarchy

a) King, but legislature controls the laws and money [purse]

3.Depression

a) Government is failing to do anything

4.Mussolini

a)Fascist

b)Making alot of noise

c)King wants to get rid of him

d)appoints him president, under the hopes Mussolini wo uld fail, and that his political career

would be over

e)King would have scapegoat for the depression and Mussolini would be eliminated

f)Mussolini succeeds and secures his position

-he gets the government to buy businesses

i)Government is putting money in to the economy

ii)Government controls much of the economy

iii)when economy goes up, Government makes money back

iv) control economy and money

g)Mussolini gains more and more power and control of government as he is successful

i) legislature grants him more power

ii)many parties are banned on ballots

iii)rigs elections

iv)evokes the image of the Roman Empire

v)...but the trains run on time
