PRELIMINARYCOMMENTS ANDPROPOSITION
The Bible uses metaphors, similes and illustrations to teach about human and Christian life. For example, it uses sheep, goats, leopards, serpents, doves and eagles. The text, Isaiah 40:3031, says, Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble andfall;ButthosewhohopeintheLordwillrenew theirstrength.Theywillsoaronwingslikeeagles;

theywillrunandnotgrowweary,theywillwalk andnotbefaint. This significant text uses the eagle as an illustrationtoteach,byimplication,somevery important truths about renewal, overcoming difficulties, victory and progress in the Christian life. Note carefully that the above passage says, Even youths grow tired and weary, (verse 30). These experiences are greaterproblemsforolderpeople.However, there is a solution to these problems of tiredness and weariness when we view them from a spiritual perspective. Psalm 103:5 re enforcesIsaiah40:3031. Therearetwooutstandingtruthsaboutthe eagle that are illustrative of the Christian life that are clearly stated. However, there are other amazing truths we can learn from the eaglethatarestatedinotherpartsoftheBible and in extrabiblical sources that have been known through observation and scientific studies. The two remarkable things that are clearly mentioned in the text are as follows: How the eagle renews its strength and its intriguingabilitytosoar.

These subjects of renewal and soaring teach important lessons that both Christians and nonChristians can learn. There is a providential reason why God has caused me topresentthismessageatthistime,becauseit isextremelyrelevantinthishouroftrialsand testing in our society and the world at large. Furthertruthsabouttheeaglewillbegleaned fromotherscripturesandsources. People are desperate today. Crimes of all kindsareontheincreaseinmanypartsofthe world. More people are committing suicide, as a way of escape from trials, meaninglessness, purposelessness and emptiness in their lives. Even children and peoplewhohavewealth,fameandpowerare turning to alcohol, drugs and ending their lives. I would like us to understand that whatever happens outside in the world happens in the church also. Everything that has ever happened in history outside the church has happened in the church. As a matter of fact, it happened amongst Jesus twelve disciples when Judas committed

I propose to you that a Christian should live like an eagle. I will present some amazing characteristics of the Golden Eagle thatillustratespiritualtruthsthatweshould applytoourownlives.
