To allow all users to view new or edited word lists, log on an administrative user account and copy the word list files to the C:\Program Files\SIL\IPA Help folder.
Keyman
Tavultesoft Keyman is not required. However, if you want to create Word Lists, Keyman version 6 (or newer) is recommended to type transcriptions in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). For more information on the Web, go to http://www.tavultesoft.com/keyman/editions.php. IPA Help provides a Keyman keyboard and keying chart for typing IPA characters in the ASAP IPA fonts. The keyboard file to install is C:\Program Files\SIL\IPA Help\IPA-ASAP.kmx. The keying chart can be found at C:\Program Files\SIL\IPA Help\ IPA-ASAP Keying Chart.rtf.
3. Click Uninstall (Windows Vista) or Remove (Windows XP or 2000). 4. Click Yes. Note: previous versions of IPA Help have been bundled in the Speech Tools package. Removing Speech Tools also removes any other currently installed Speech Tools applications including Speech Analyzer and Phonology Assistant.
Known Issues
Phonetic Fonts
IPA Help uses several phonetic fonts to display phonetic symbols. Uninstalling an older version of IPA Help or Speech Tools after installing IPA Help 2.1 removes these fonts. The next time IPA Help runs, the installer automatically repairs the fonts. However, non-administrative users may see the message Error 1706: No valid source could be found for product IPA Help. Windows Installer cannot continue., and phonetic symbols no longer display correctly. To manually repair the fonts, log on an administrative user account and do the following (Windows XP terms shown): 1. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs dialog box appears. 2. Select IPA Help from the list. 3. Click Change. The IPA Help Setup wizard appears. 4. Select Repair. 5. Click Next twice. The repair installation runs. 6. If prompted, insert the installation CD and click OK. 7. Click Finish. Close the Add or Remove Programs dialog box.
