Instructions for Fabric Flower 1. Cut two rectangular pieces of fabric 18 x 5.

One piece will be the front of the ower petals, one piece will be the reverse lining of the petals. Using the cirlce template, cut a piece of coordinating fabric for the center of the ower. 2. Using template, trace ve petals on the wrong side of lining fabric. Leave 1/2 space between petals. Do not cut the pieces out yet! 3. Place the petal lining fabric on rectangle of fabric that will be the front side of the petals. Ensure that right sides are together. 4. Sew around the curve of the petal. Carefully pivot around the curve (with the needle down, lift the pressor foot and shift the fabric to follow the curve if necessary). Leave the straight edge open for turning. 5. Without cutting the thread, sew each petal as directed in step 4. Repeat until all ve petals are sewn. 6. With pinking shears, cut out the petals on the curve close to the sewing line. With regular straight scissors, cut along the straight edge. 7. Turn each petal inside out. Using a knitting needle or other tool, gently work the seam out to achieve a smooth curve. Press with iron. 8. With a needle and doubled thread, baste 1/4 from the straight edge of each petal until all ve petals are strung along the thread. Tie a knot in one end of the thread, and leave the needle in the other end. 9. Gently gather the petals along the thread and form them into the ower. Tie the ends of the thread together, then using the needle with thread still attached, make a few stitches across the gathers in the back of the ower to secure the petals. 10. Sew the coordinating circle to the center of the ower in a spiral fashion. (A walking foot is handy for this).
