Back To Street

A Street Dance Production Organized by:

Nilai University College Dance Club

Back To Street
GENERAL PROPOSAL
Introduction of Event
Back To Street is a street dance production organized by Nilai University College Dance Club. This event brings together the dancers from the dance club itself to show and to promote street dancing as a form of healthy performing art and sport. Many groups in Malaysia misunderstand the art of street dancing as a deviant form of dancing due to the misrepresentations from movies and the lack of proper exposure to the art itself. In actual fact, street dancing refers to a group of people dancing in a social environment such as on the streets or in an assembly hall. The interesting component about street dance is that it allows people from different backgrounds to come together to speak and express themselves in a common language which is, dance. In fact some of the more renowned dance styles that derived from street dancing are salsa, tap dancing and it also includes the one move Michael Jackson made famous, the moonwalk. Although there are many dance productions being held by other colleges, Back To Street is unique because we will only be portraying street dance in order to promote and to show different genres from the style itself. This will allow the dance community to strengthen as they will be able to show their talent and at the same time sharing this energetic and creative performing art. Dancers will also get to know each other better and will get to share their knowledge about this form of dance with each other in order to improve. The community will also be affected and will be empowered to join this challenging and youthful form of dance after getting inspired by the dancers. The highlight of Back To Street is the videos being played before every routine in order to educate the public and the rest of the dancers on the performing art itself.

By improving their knowledge and understanding of street dancing, it will then helps in improving and growing performing art industry as a whole. In other words, Back To Street will be considered as the dance event that will forever change the style of future college events or performing art events.
