Thank You: to the Cornerstone Community who are always ready to help out in around town, helping at the community garden & Australia Day celebrations, and the Canowindra Public School & P&C thank them so much for helping at their weeding working bee recently. Graffiti: if you know who has been spraying white paint on roads & walls around town, please advise the police on 131 444. The perpetrator to have very sketchy ideas of anatomy. Graffiti is a significant issue within many local government areas reducing the value and image of our community. Facebook: used for good, not malicious intent! Canobolas LAC is one of the newest addition to NSW Police's Eyewatch social media project: For a safe and secure NSW. Police encourage contributions, but please do NOT report crime on the page: contact 000 for emergencies; 6344 1300 for our local station if an officer is required for a non emergency situation; or 131 444 for the police assistance line to report. AGM: Canowindra Preschool will be holding their Annual General Meeting Tuesday 21 February, 2012 starting at 6.30pm sharp, at the Preschool. All interested parties are welcome to attend. Aussie Day Cricket: apologies for not running it this week as noted in last week's Phoenix. Again the amount of news and ads has been amazing, but there was quite a bit about the cricket in the other paper, so you can't be too disappointed. Thanks for your patience.

RELAX AND REJUVENATE YOURSELF Since opening in February 2010, Falls - Hair Beauty Spa has become a local haven of glamour and style. In May that same year, Falls took out the esteemed Best Business in Cabonne trophy in the 2010 Cabonne Daroo Business Awards, a testament to the hard work invested by previous owners Peter Kennedy and Jackie Cramp. Kerby Lawrence took over the business, early in December 2011 and is committed to adding to the quality services and products that Falls customers have come to appreciate. This February is a special month for the Falls team, as it sees Brittany Rue become a fully qualified hairdresser; and Hayley Slattery completes her second year apprenticeship, which she started at the beginning of the Falls Hair Beauty Spa story. The relaxed rural setting combines seamlessly with the state of the art Day Spa, comprising a hairdressing salon, beauty therapy rooms, sauna, the Spa Oceana unit, Mystic Spray tanning booth, pedicure massage chair, complementary fresh coffee and homemade slice. A vast range of hydrotherapy treatments are available with the Spa Oceana, each providing its own benefits ranging from weight loss to detoxification to stress reduction. Falls uses luxurious PAYOT balms made from extracts of semiprecious stones, perfumed oils, clays and marine crystals to rejuvenate your body. These products enable your body to eliminate toxins and promote an overall sense of wellbeing. Falls beauty therapists are fully trained in a range of specialist services which include: complete range of waxing; eye lash and eyebrow tinting; eyelash extensions; deluxe Payot facial, customised to suit your skin; massage;
manicures, using OPI nail polish, or the CND Shellac nail gel system; and Mystic Tan...all to help you feel glamorous and refreshed. All of these treatments can be enjoyed separately, or as components of a tailored package. For a special occasion, or a personal thank you, consider giving one of our gift vouchers and the choice is theirs. Our qualified hairdressers and apprentices can provide a complete range of hair treatments including cutting, styling, colouring and perming. Falls uses L`Oreal professional colours and are stockists of INOA, the colour of the future by L`Oreal that provides optimal respect for the hair with no odour and no ammonia. Falls stocks a full range of L`Oreal retail products for your home use. Experience a pedicure with one of our fully trained staff, the leather massage chair offers total relaxation while you are treated to an hour of Spa Ritual products, or a half hour mini ped. The Mystic Tan utilises individual product cartridges that allows the salon therapists to offer customised tanning for each client. Mystic Tan is a totally private service, the micro myst particles are polarized, and attracted evenly to the skin to create a smooth, natural looking tan. Also available are a refining myst for exfoliation and a revitalising myst for moisturising. Falls Hair Beauty Spa overlooks a 15m heated pool and spa, with breathtaking views of the gardens and surrounding landscape. Feel free to visit and wander through the salon and day spa, and talk to one of our team about the many programs and packages available for your specific needs, or call us on 02 6344 1293.

MEDITATION COURSES Karma Yiwong Samten Ling (meaning place of natural beautiful meditation) is a newly established meditation retreat centre in the Cabonne Shire. Situated at 1064 Sandy Creek Road Molong, between Cudal, Manildra and Molong, only 30 minutes from Orange it is located in a peaceful bushland setting. The Centre offers classes in meditation and on the Buddhas teachings based on compassion and wisdom. These traditional techniques for controlling the mind date back over 2,500 years are still very relevant in todays high stress, fast paced times. Karma Yiwong Samten Ling is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on donations for its ongoing operations. A suggested donation for participation is requested however if money is an issue just give what you can. Contact Rosie on 02 6366 8376 or karmakagyu@ceinternet.net.au for enquiries and bookings. The following events are coming up: Sunday 12 February: A day of teachings on the 7 points of mind training with Norbert Bohler*- Here is an example of the teachings: Give all the victory to other, Take all the blame unto yourself. This intriguing verse is the essence of mind transformation practice. At first glance, this verse is a radical concept, even an insult to our habitual self-centred attitude. Yet, according to Buddhist teachings this selfcenteredness is precisely the cause of all woes. The set of proverbs that form the root text of the mind training practice are designed as a set of antidotes to undesired mental habits that cause suffering. These teachings are very practical and deal with any situation that one can encounter in daily life. * Norbert Bohler has been a practising Buddhist for
over 30 years and received teachings from many highly qualified teachers. He has recently completed a 3 year meditation retreat.
Wednesday 8 February: 6 week meditation course. Meditation can lead to well-being, happiness and peace of mind. 1 hour classes suited for beginners and experienced alike. Sunday 26 February, 25 March & 29 April: Last Sunday in Month Retreat Day. A practice day including sitting and walking meditation in the morning with another hour of practice after lunch before doing chanting / visualisation practice on compassion: Chenrezig.
