ARS-SG-MASTIC ARS-WG MASTIC

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION ARS-MASTICS are made with a careful selection of ingredients to produce the highest grade of product in the industry. They are of heavy consistency, trowel applied materials formulated with a refined asphalt, quality fillers and solvent. Designed as all purpose repair cements, they bond tightly and remain soft and pliable. They withstand summer heat and winter cold without cracking. They provide a durable, waterproof seal, meeting all requirements of ASTM-D-4586-00. RECOMMENDED USES Use ARS-MASTICS whenever a quality watertight seal is required for rooftop applications such as flashings, chimneys, gutters, or to repair defects in asphalt roofing membranes. ARS-MASTICS will create long lasting solutions for difficult waterproofing challenges. ADVANTAGES Formulated for easy trowelability and application to lessen strain on the roof mechanic. Excellent adhesion provides tight, long-lasting protective seal. Remains soft and pliable in all types of conditions. COVERAGE Coverage rates depend on many factors such as the type of repair, reinforcement type being used, surface porosity and smoothness, etc. Typical applications are four (4) to eight (8) gallons per 100 square feet. INSTALLATION Surface Preparation: Remove all dirt, dust, debris and standing water by brooming or pressure washing where necessary and allow to thoroughly dry. All loose gravel, must be removed from ballasted roofs. Scrape back to a firm edge all loose or scaled coatings. Make sure surface edges of areas to be repaired are brought flush to surrounding surface to prevent low spots. Replace all loose or pushed-up nails with larger ones. Make sure all laps are tight. Dried out asphalt surfaces, oxidized metal, and all concrete surfaces should receive an application of asphalt primer or rust primer. Rusted metal roofs or areas with scaled coating may require steel brushing and scraping. Application: Apply by trowel to area to be repaired. Press material tightly into cracks, splits and seams in vertical and horizontal surfaces. To repair large cracks and splits, scrape or cut away rough open edges to make as even as possible with surrounding surface. Apply a layer of ARS-MASTICS to crack or split opening. Be sure to work material into opening establishing a bond to all contact surfaces. Work material to a smooth, even surface and feather the edge around the entire repair. Embed a layer of glass, cotton, or polyester mat in the freshly applied material. Apply another coat of cement over the entire area, feathering the edge beyond the edge of embedded fabric. For blisters, cut away the blister and allow to air dry if any moisture is present. Proceed with repair in the same way as for large cracks and splits. Clean up with mineral spirits. Do not thin this product with any solvents. For the easiest workability in cold temperatures, store containers in warm conditions before use. Drying Time: Eight (8) to twelve (12) hours to a light touch. Heavy applications should not be subjected to foot traffic until a firm cure is achieved.
