he sums are the latest indie band to enter the scene, and theyve come in with a bang. Earlier this year they recording their first album entitled Early Days, as they want to show their development throughout their career, so these are just the beginnings for these guys. The UK band formed in Solihull, West Midlands in Lewiss front room, where a few of their songs are actually recorded. The band currently consists of Lewis (lead vocals/rhythm guitar/ keyboard) George (drums/backing vocals) and Kyle (bass guitar/backing vocals). More importantly, theyve got a tour coming up next year which theyre currently planning out. ust months ago, these guys were your average indie three-piece band, but after finishing a small gig in Hampton-in-Arden they were approach by Phonic Sounds talent scout and were quickly signed to a major indie record label. Lewis said I think we were getting to a stage where we thought we werent going anywhere. And just when all hope was lost, we found out break.

he Sums were snapped up by T4 on the beach and the reading festival, where they should be playing along side acts such as The Vaccines and The Arctic Monkeys. Theyve signed on for a long running record deal, and they will be releasing their debut album entitled All Shapes and Sizes in mid May this year.

e talk to George to see what he thinks of the band success. So George, what does it feel like to be famous? George - Well its a little overwhelming, but the best part of it is having the fans scream your bands name. Its as if were gods or something!. George was also sad to announce that before the interview, he left his hat (pictured to the right) on the seat of a taxi earlier this morning, and so no longer has it.

he band will be supporting The Vaccines gigs around the country, promoting their debut album and playing a selection of their favourite songs. More details about the tour dates are on the gig guide on page 35...
