WHO IS ELIGIBLE Any students enrolled in the Greater Atlanta Montessori School or extended day (Afterschool) program

LESSON TIMES Most often lessons shall be given after 12pm, between 1:00 3:00pm. Lessons will be given the same day/time each week. If you would like to schedule an earlier or lesson later than the times given, please see me for availability. It is the parents and students responsibility to make their scheduled time each week.

VIOLIN PROGRAM SUPPLIES

Parents are responsible for acquiring their childs instrument. Violins come in many different sizes and it is very important not to get an instrument that is too large. I find SHAR Music is a great place to start. On their website (sharmusic.com) you will find instructions regarding how to properly measure your child for correct sizing. Please Reference the link: http://www.sharmusic.com/Pages/Instruments/Beginning-Violins You may rent or purchase from this company as well as many local shops. It is a good idea to check pricing and policies at several places and determine where you can get the best deal for your family. Whether you decide to rent or purchase, ask about trade-in policies in event your child out grows the instrument. Also make sure the bow, case, and rosin are all included. I have also included a list of

places to rent from, that work with the Greater Atlanta Montessori School in this packet for interested parents. *IN ADDITION TO THE VIOLIN ITSELF YOU WILL NEED: Shoulder rest (the Kinder Chinder is a good option for young children) Rosin (this should be included with your instrument but its a good idea to ask) An old sock or bit of old tee-shirt for wiping down the instrument A wire music stand is optional. We will be learning by rote in the beginning but I will give the children some hand-outs. Sometimes young children may be comfortable propping their music up on a table or in their case.

RECITALS/CONCERTS Group lessons and student recitals are also offered after the first six months of study, are based on availability and readiness of the student. COMMITMENT It is important that both parents and students alike, understand that a commitment of one year is generally needed for a beginner on the violin to have a valuable experience of the instrument. Stringed instruments and their study require a gradual development of the fine motor skills needed to play. Though a year commitment is not required, it is highly recommended. LESSON POLICY

LATENESS/ABSENCE Please notify me in advance if your child will not be able to make their scheduled time for lesson. In some situations lessons may be rescheduled. If your child shows up late for their lesson without prior notification, regardless of the time, their lesson will last the remainder of that time and not beyond. It would not be fair to the students scheduled after them who show up on time. *There will be no refunds given for late or missed lessons.* Fees are based on a monthly program NOT per lesson, which are offered at an advantageous discount exclusive to Greater Atlanta Montessori School Students. MAKE-UP LESSONS If for any reason, I am unable to make a regularly scheduled time, you will be notified in advance. This lesson will be rescheduled or extra time will be given in extended lessons and the lesson time will be made up. MISSED LESSONS (Due to illness) Any lesson missed due to illness needs to be called in to my cell phone #678-308-2022 at least 24hrs in advance. There will be a 5-day grace period for the lesson to be made up, if it is at all possible. It is the responsibility of the student or parent to contact me during this time for the make-up. If this is not done or there is less than 24hrs notice given, the lesson will be considered a missed lesson and regular payment is expected. Not practicing is not considered a reason for a canceled lesson.

Payment Policy

FEES
There will be a one time, $15.00 registration fee required for all first time students AND of the monthly fee upfront to begin lessons. The remaining balance is to be paid at the end of the month and then all monthly fees thereafter.

Your fees will be based on the level of study you have chosen for your child. ALL fees will be due on the 28th of each month or last scheduled lesson of the month.
*ALL PAYMENTS ARE TO BE MADE DIRECTLY TO THE VIOLIN INSTRUCTOR.

Cash Check ( If check is returned there will be an additional 35.00 fee and I will no longer accept checks from you.) Credit/Debit -- I can only accept credit/debit card payments through Paypal, which can be sent electronically, through my email address: mnkene@live.com (please make certain you type in the correct address) balance owed will remain even if payment is misdirected.
