GECO: Relaunch of an innovative brand

At the IWA 2011 RUAG Ammotec is on the starting line with a new range of GECO handgun cartridges. The new range is aligned to satisfy the needs of handgun users and impresses not only by the attractive price, but also though its versatility. With 12 different pistol and revolver calibres and five different types of bullets, everyone will find the right GECO cartridge for their application: be it target shooting, dynamic competition shooting, hunting or for home-defence purposes. The precision is of paramount importance in the target shooting sport disciplines. This is why GECO now offers hollow-point bullets in the pistol calibres 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, .45 Auto and in the revolver calibres .38 Special and .357 Magnum. With their point of gravity shifted far to the rear, these bullets have excellent flying properties and thereby provide the best prerequisite for top precision. For intensive training the inexpensive full-metal-jacket bullets are the preferred choice to keep the costs within reasonable limits. New loads have been incorporated into the programme for dynamic shooting, above all the IPSC-Sport. They are ideally adjusted to the IPSC regulations and the shooters in question with regard to velocity and bullet weight.

Primarily noted are the two 9mm Luger cartridges with encapsulated full-metal-jacket bullets in 8g (124gr) and 9g (139gr). These cartridges are based on the lead-free Super-Clean priming technology which prevents lead emissions in the environment surrounding the shooter. Moreover, the encapsulated tail of the bullet prevents lead particles from being emitted from the tail when firing. Further special IPSC loads are: the 9mm Luger with 10g (154 gr) full-metal-jacket, the .38 Super Auto with 8g (124gr) full-metal-jacket, and also the full-metal-jacketed bullets in the calibres .45 Auto, .38 Special and .357 Magnum. GECO offers a wide spectrum of calibres to the hunter. The hollow-point bullets are best suited for the finishing shot. They provide a good stopping effect and at the same time minimize the danger of ricochets. The GECO full-metal-jacket bullets are gentle on the pelt and ideal for earth and trap hunting. GECO handgun cartridges are also outstandingly suitable for self-defence purposes. In this area the GECO hollow-point bullets score with their high deformation properties and penetration depth.

GECO the idea: GECO stands for a modern and versatile range of ammunition suitable for all application areas of hunting and sports. Target groups are the young and active but also price-performance-conscious shooters and hunters. The range comprises five product groups: Centerfire rifle cartridges, shot shells, rimfire cartridges, airgun pellets and handgun ammunition.
