Save Dimmeys has received a significant number of enquiries about whats happening. In particular, many people have made reference to: the Council agreed to provide cash for further action. This needs to be explained.

COUNCIL RESOLUTION 1 Moved: Councillor Main! ! ! Seconded: Councillor Jolly 1. ! That in the matter of a proposal to appeal the Victorian Civil Administration Tribunal (VCAT) determination on ! the Dimmeys Swan Street site development to the Supreme Court, Council: (d) ! ! sets aside, the sum of up to $20,000 to offer support and assistance in kind, to the Save Dimmeys campaign, and in overall support to the running of a community campaign. CARRIED COUNCIL RESOLUTION 2 Moved: Councillor Main ! ! ! Seconded: Councillor Funder That Council determines to make public, the resolution as carried, together with the Ofcers Report on Agenda Item No 4.1. CARRIED Many individuals believe that actual cash was provided to Save Dimmeys from ratepayers funds (Yarra Council). This is not the case. We have received many comments from Yarra residents, so it needs further information. Individuals will then understand what are the parameters that we campaign within. For those who are unclear, support and assistance inkind is not actual cash, which many believe. As an example, most Councils support community festivals, if the festival needs support and assistance in-kind. In other words, the community group facilitating the festival receives in-kind assistance to a certain value. This support and assistance in-kind is usually in-house, and administrative (Council provided) such as advertising road closures, notifying relevant authorities, and installing road traffic barriers and providing traffic wardens, typing, photocopying etc. We will call on Councils in-kind support, which we acknowledge and appreciate, at the appropriate time. The Save Dimmeys group consists of passionate and dedicated volunteer individuals. To this end, we now advertise for a minimum of fifteen (15) individuals, willing to commit at least two (2) hours in a day for approximately a week. Expressions of interest to volunteer should be sent to: SaveDimeys@gmail.com Please include a declaration confirming that you are over 18 years of age, a copy of photo id, your email address and mobile phone number, or landline (preferred). After the project has been completed the personal volunteer details will be securely deleted. Applicants need to provide their own water bottle, hats, sunscreen and/or suitable clothing for outdoor location. Seating is available. We will telephone you with details of the volunteer program. One nomination per household only. Successful applicants will be randomly selected via ballot. Applications must be received at SaveDimmeys@gmail.com by close of business (5pm) Wednesday 15 February 2012. Draw will take place within 48 hours after the closing period. No correspondence will be entered into. Draw to be conducted by an Independent party. The project is light paperwork only, and does not involve soliciting funds or actively canvassing the public, or distributing leaflets. Save Dimmeys [the Association] reserve the right to terminate the appointment of any volunteer who acts contrary to instructions. Prior to appointment as a volunteer, applicants will be required to sign an indemnity and waiver form document, in line with current community group practices.
