The car which blew up in a high security area of central Delhi, a short distance from the Israeli embassy and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh s official residence , was badly burnt. Police in the Georgian capital defused an explosive device found in the car of a n Israeli embassy employee, the ex-Soviet state s interior ministry said. Ravi Singh, a petrol pump attendant who was standing on the other side of the ro ad from the Delhi blast, said: "There was a huge explosion. There was a woman an d a driver in the car which was burning and the women was dragged out." Israeli embassy spokesman in New Delhi David Goldfarb said that one of the injur ed occupants of the car was an Israeli diplomat but declined to comment further. An Israeli security official said the diplomat was a woman. Indian police cordoned off the area surrounding the burnt-out station wagon and investigators were at the site. "We are examining the materials at the site and we are yet to get the experts r eport so we still cannot say how the blast occurred," New Delhi police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said. He said there were no details about the condition of the two injured people but

television reports said that one was in a critical condition. "There was an explosion in an Israeli diplomat s car but we don t know how it ha ppened, Goldfarb said. "We are in constant contact with the local authorities." Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told in Jerusalem that Israeli a uthorities were investigating the blast in New Delhi as well as the incident Tbi lisi. "We are looking into both of these incidents and cooperating with the local law enforcement agencies," Palmor said. The attacks came between the anniversaries of the deaths of two top Hezbollah mi litants, Imad Mughniyeh and Abbas Mussawi, which spark annual travel warnings fr om the Israeli government. Top Hezbollah commander Mughniyeh was killed in a car bombing in Damascus on Feb ruary 12, 2008, while Mussawi, the group s secretary general, was killed by an I sraeli missile on February 16, 1992. Both attacks were blamed on Israel and sparked vows of revenge from the Shiite m ilitia group. A Jewish centre run by the the ultra-Orthodox Lubavitch movement was among the t argets in the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai, which India blames on the Pakista ni-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, in which 10 gunmen killed at least 188 people. Information at the disposal of Nigerian Tribune indicates that operatives were t old that the group had received funds from some Al-Qaeda-linked organisations ba

sed in the middle East. However, the operatives were said to have made a shocking find, which confirmed that the group actually received funding from a United Kingdom-based (UK) organi sation. It was gathered that leaders of the sect already arrested had opened up by givin g some strategic information, especially on the funding of the dreaded organisat ion. Sources confirmed that while the organisation relied on donations by its members in its earlier days, its links with Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) opened i t to fundings from groups in Saudi Arabia and the UK. According to the sources, different confirmations coming from sources in Boko Ha ram had indicated clearly that a group known as Al-Muntada Trust Fund, with head quarters in the United Kingdom, had extended some financial assistance to the se ct. Investigations, so far, revealed that the sect received financial assistance fro m some Islamic organisations. The sect was also said to have received funding from Islamic World Society with h eadquarters in Saudi Arabia, one source stated. It was gathered that while initial funds for the sect came from contributions by members, there were also donations from notable Muslims, especially a businessm an, who was once said to have donated a bus and some loud speakers to the organi sation and the late Baba Fugu, Mohammed Yusufs in-law, who was said to have donat ed a farmland at Auno village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. It was also gathered that security agencies have uncovered another sponsor, whos e identity was given as a businessman from Bauchi State. He was said to have dev eloped links with Al-Qaeda in Somalia having received some training from one Abu Umar Al-Wadud, the man who leads Al-Qaeda in Somalia. The man was said to have escaped from Nigeria in 2009, following the onslaught b y security agencies and he is said to be living in Somalia. Intelligence officers were also said to have been told that the said businessman visited Nigeria in October 2010 and was said to have held meetings in Kano with the leaders of Boko Haram, including Abubakar Shekau, the acclaimed military co mmander. It was also gathered that the sect originally planned to replicate Afghanistan s ituation in Nigeria, as it named its original base in Yobe State as Afghanistan. Investigators were said to have confirmed that Boko Haram was fashioned after th e Taliban movement in Afghanistan and that one of its earliest bases located in Kanama, Yobe State was named Afghanistan. The base was, however, said to have been demolished in December 2004. The group is originally fashioned after the Tali-bans in Afghanistan and it inten ded to replicate the Afghan situation across Nigeria. The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of missing prisoners of Adiala jail till March 01 on Monday. According to a private television channel, three-member bench of the Supreme Cou rt, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the case. During the case proceedings, the apex court head, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamma d Chaudhry inquired about the prisoners and asked where they were before January 26. Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary replied saying that he did not have kno wledge regarding the whereabouts of the prisoners. The chief justice criticised his statement and said, a provincial chief secretary should be aware of everythin g that happens in the province. Seven prisoners were presented before the court while three were still not appea red after the strict orders of Supreme Court. Counsel of the prisoners Advocate Tariq Asad informed the court that during the confinement which lasted for more than a year, the prisoners were not exposed to the sunlight which worsened their health.
