RECRUITMENT:
Recruitment is a continuous process whereby the firm attempts to develop a pool of qualified applicants for the future human resources needs. Usually, the recruitment process starts when a manger initiates an employee requisition for a specific vacancy or an anticipated vacancy. RECRUITMENT NEEDS ARE OF THREE TYPES

PLANNED:
These are the needs arising from changes in organization and retirement policy.

ANTICIPATED:
Anticipated needs are those movements in personnel, which an organization can predict by studying trends in internal and external environment.

UNEXPECTED:
These needs arise due to resignation, death, accident, illness, etc

RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
Recruitment process involves a systematic procedure from sourcing the candidates to arranging and conducting the interviews and requires many resources and time. This process includes following steps: Identify vacancy Prepare job description and person specification Advertising the vacancy Managing the response Short-listing Arrange interviews Conducting interview and decision making

SOURCES OF RECRUITMENT:
There are two sources of recruitment:

Internal recruitment External recruitment

INTERNAL RECRUITMENT:
It is when the business looks to fill the vacancy from within its existing workforce Cheaper and quicker to recruit People already familiar with the business and how it operates Provides opportunities for promotion with in the business It can be motivating Business already knows the strengths and weaknesses of candidates Limits the number of potential applicants No new ideas can be introduced from outside the business Creates another vacancy which needs to be filled

EXTERNAL RECRUITMENT:
External recruitment is when the business looks to fill the vacancy from any suitable applicant outside the business. Outside people bring in new ideas Larger pool of workers from which to find the best candidate People have a wider range of experience Longer process More expensive process due to advertisements and interviews required

The four most popular ways of recruiting externally are:

JOB CENTRE:
These are paid by the government and are responsible for helping the unemployed find jobs or get training. They also provide a service for businesses need to advertise a vacancy and are generally free.

JOB ADVERTISEMENT:
Advertisements are the most common form of external recruitment. They can be found in many places like local and national newspapers, notice boards, recruitment fairs. They should include some important information relating to the job such as job title, pay package, location, job description, how to applyeither by CV or application form.

RECRUITMENT AGENCY:
Provides employers with details of suitable candidates for a vacancy

PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION:
Often referred to as word of mouth and can be a recommendation from a colleague at work.
