Let SOWB carry those "merging" expenses. One additional concern will be the roster management of the officials. I dont see the point of helping the SOWB if their not helping us out. I dont work women's basketball and dont care too. The consolidation does nothing for me! I agree that there are many tasks that are similar between organizations and the number belonging to each group has increased so this makes consolidation appealing at that level. My main concern is how do we consolidate and girls basketball keep a level of importance equal to boys. I believe the merge would be cost effective in the long run. Is the estimated $7,000 attorney/legal fees entirely the responsibility of the PNBOA or will that be split equally by the SOWB to make this an "win/win" for both organizations? I would like to think our ultimate goal as the PNBOA is to put the best, quality, most trained officials on a basketball court at any giving time on a consistent basis. Merging these two groups does not make me a better official on the basketball court. What makes me a better official is spending that $7000 towards more training, scholarships to camps, paid evaluations, etc. One of the main reasons why I didn't go to a camp last summer was because of financial reasons. We could use that money we are saving to help get these camp costs down. Spend our money on our main goal, things that actually make you a better official on the court. Merging these two groups does not make me a better official in any way and is a complete waste of time and money. my major concern is the president when I first met him with a concern or problem he says to me I have alot of concerns to deal with he says I don't have the time. Go talk to someone else he replys. Didn't he know what he was getting into when he became president now he wants to put a financial debt on the membership. Also there is not been good things going on with our own membership with problems for us to decide to merge with another organizaton. Merge to me means not able to maintain your own league. We need better leadership. I have not moved up to varsity list since I been membership 2001 not for my false. But because of neglect of varsity officiials and if that's moving forward I am badly confused. The pnboa need to improve alot of things within their own league before you put the membersip in debt for $7000.00 I cannot afford it. Some people have better jobs or income than others. So I say Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Leave it the way it is now. Consolidate the cross over tasks without consolidating the 2 associations. I.e. shared accountant, shared training, shared evaluations. I think we should consolidate but not if it will cost the PNBOA $7,000. Before moving forward. I would like to see a detailed precise timeline. The goal should be no more than 60 days of study, a recommendation from the Board to the membership by around March 15, 2012, a vote of membership by

Q2. Additional ideas or concerns about consolidation:

April 15 and implementation in the fall 2012. Large companies merge faster than your proposal! 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 Every attempt should be made to limit the expenditure funds during the investigation phase. Do not waste any more time & any money on this issue As Joe Thompson pointed out, there is no meaningful benefit to the members of the PNBOA by consolidating. SOWB should pay the $15K with Zero out of pocket to the PNBOA This will enhance the quality of those refs who only reffed girls games... reffing boys will help them I'm OK with moving forward with further study of consolidation but would like the board to go before the organization before it spends any money. 7,000 dollars seems like a risky investment that we truly do not need to take. there are too many questions as to the whether the benefits are great enough I am a full member of both associations and I am 100% in favor of becoming one group but I WILL vote against any proposal that involves abandoning the 50 year old PNBOA brand. There is a major investment and history to this brand and it would be idiotic to abandon it. It is an appropriate name for both genders and ties into the past alongside the PNFOA. Also I would like to see dues charged, but waived for those that work a minimum amount of rec ball or serve the association in some capacity (Board, committee, providing services, etc). Last i'd be in favor of a lower assessment but would prefer to see us consider 3 person training crews on e night a week (1 member experienced in 3 person working with 2 non varsity officials). This better prepares our JV officials for stepping up to varsity level). It would cost a little, but be well worth the investment. Ensure that we as the PNBOA ensure that as 1 org we advance female officials as the SOWB has done so well. Did the SOWB, come to the PNBOA and ask for or is this a political ploy to get larger in numbers, even though this question was in the survey in the past. I the PNBOA have this kind of money on hand and do not know what to do with it. Spread it amonthe the Ref's that's in good standing. I'm happy being in one Asso. The larger numbers in people the more "BULL" No $$$ should be spent The money can be put to better use like; 1) All officials receive paid evaluations/no more evaluations by Varsity officials. 2) Less fees taken out of our checks. 3) Using the money for more training for our officials. We definitely need some kind of legal counsel to protect the association throughout the process. Let Kent Binning head this committee and explore every possible option so that Jan 16, 2012 7:30 PM Jan 16, 2012 9:24 AM Jan 16, 2012 9:05 AM Jan 16, 2012 8:34 AM Jan 16, 2012 4:30 AM Jan 15, 2012 9:29 PM Jan 15, 2012 7:12 PM Jan 15, 2012 6:19 PM

Q2. Additional ideas or concerns about consolidation:

PNBOA would not need to spend any money, but still figure out away to make this happen! 27 28 29 Why? Stop trying to do so much leave it alone!!!! I think this can be done without having to spend any money Obviously we should try to do this with minimal cost. There are a lot of businessmen in our group that have gone through mergers, and consolidation that could handle this. Jan 14, 2012 3:09 PM Jan 14, 2012 12:59 PM Jan 14, 2012 12:41 PM
