Our MOPS moms will be partnering with Baptist Church of Lacolline, located in Lacolline, Haiti which is home to 2500 residents. Typical homes are constructed from block or cement with tin or corrugated-iron roofs. The regional diet consists of corn and millet. Few people have access to meat. The Child Survival Program will serve 53 mothers and their 56 children in this farming community. Our goal this year is to raise $20 a month to support the Baptist Church of Lacolline as they minister to these mothers and their babies. There will be jars located on each table during the MOPS meetings, so remember to bring your change and lets help minister to the women and children of Lacolline, Haiti! UPDATE: Any extra money will be used to support our moms in Haiti during the summer months when MOPS
doesn't meet. Thanks to all who have donated and keep bringing your spare change. It really adds up!

Rebecca Neathery (Mentor Mom)
Married to Neal for 16 years. Mother of Parker (15 yrs.), Michael (14 yrs.), and Hannah (12 yrs). This is her first year in MOPS at Wayside. (She participated in Indiana and the first MOPS meeting she ever attended was on Sept. 11, 2001). Becoming a mother has - aside from the extra pounds, the gray hair (hidden by highlightshopefully!), and getting by on little sleep been refining! Every part of me has been challenged: spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. My weaknesses look worse, and my strengths seem to disappear at times. Children are a constantwhen someone comes to the side of the bed at 2a.m. and says, Mom, I dont feel well, I cannot push the snooze button or put it off until tomorrow. When I have to remind my kids for the bazillionth time to put their shoes away when they take them off (still working on that!), I cant check the box on the To-Do List Cleaning SkillsDONE! The repetitiveness of mothering, added to the physical tiredness, can push all of my carefully concealed flaws to the surface, where Ive had to learn to deal with them on the glaring stage of motherhoodthree sets of inquisitive eyes watching my every move. And yet, as daunting and discouraging as that can be, I cant sufficiently describe how it feels to snuggle a baby into my arms and smell their unique baby smell, to sing songs, and read books with them in my lap, to laugh about something funny they said or did, to watch them become friends, to discover what makes each of them feel loved, or to walk beside them proudly, knowing these children are MY gift from God. My prayer is that as they see me walk this journey they will learn to embrace Gods refining fire, because it reveals my love for them and Gods love for all of His children. One parenting tip: I dont like conflict and [SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WITH NEWBORNS ONLY!!!] with children comes much conflict! The best verse for me to read was Proverbs 29:15The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother. It reminded me that avoiding conflict with my kids would not produce the kind of family I desired, and helped me stand strong at times that I wanted to give in during those discipline-intensive years. Hang in thereas my husband always reminded me, its a marathon, not a sprint!

Moppets Moment
by Norma Sturdivant MOPPETS Coordinator
MOPPETS Corner
Today the children learned how God watched over Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace. And, God watches over them. Here is an idea from the Pray and Play Bible 2 you could use to reinforce the lesson. Sing the following song to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat: Stand, stand, stand for God Even when the goings rough, No matter what you do. God will help you through.
Meet two of the volunteers taking care of 4/5-year-olds in Room 114: Bob Barry and his wife Jo were married 58 years ago in Shreveport, LA. They have 4 daughters, one son, thirteen grandchildren, and one greatgranddaughter. He is a retired mechanical engineer who is interested in how things work, things that fly, U.S. and Texas history, travel, reading and geography. His hobbies include volunteering at Wayside as an usher/greeter, nursery helper, MOPS, golf and BSF kitchen and food service. He began volunteering in MOPPETS in 2010 to provide a male presence in the 4-5 year old class. It has been a fun experience, especially reading to and with the children. His favorite books in the Bible are Romans (clear message of our need for salvation and Gods grace) and Isaiah (early telling of Christs coming and what that means to mankind). Charlotte Harper and her Air Force husband came to Wayside in 1995. She is from North Carolina where she buried her mother last November 2010 and her sweet daddy died just after her wedding 32 years ago. Charlotte had never heard of MOPS before coming to Wayside, but she was looking for a ministry she and her daughter Amy could do once a month. She loved children and the Word of God; it was a good fit and she continued through the years. She loves relating Bible stories to the children that she hopes will impress them with the attributes of God, His love for them, His power, His provision, His holiness, etc. God revealed Himself to her in each book of the Bible. But, years ago, so many of the verses in Philippians were commands she needed to be reminded to obey that it was the first book she chose to memorize.
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 325. Line an 8x4-inch loaf pan with foil, leaving some extra foil along the sides of the pan to lift out the brownies. Grease the foil. 2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa. Set aside. 3. Place the chocolate pieces and butter in the top of a double boiler over barely simmering water. When the chocolate has just melted, remove from heat. Whisk in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk in the reserved flour mixture until just combined. 4. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 min., or until a skewer inserted into the center of the pan comes out with a few moist crumbs attached. Cool on a rack at least 20 min. 5. Transfer the brownies to a cutting board. Using a 3 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two heart shapes. Cover with plastic wrap until ready to assemble sundaes. 6. Spoon Raspberry Sauce onto each plate. Place a brownie heart next to a scoop of ice cream. Serve.
