Fig. ABC is an equilateral of side 8 cm. A, B and C are the centres of circular arcs of radius 4 cm. Find the area of the shaded region correct upto 2 decimal places. [Take = 3.142 and 3 = 1.732] [4]

The shopkeeper offers a discount of 10% of the listed price to his customer. If VAT is 10%. Find : (i) the amount paid by the customer. (ii) the VAT to be paid by the shopkeeper. [3] (b) Solve the equation : 1/(x + 1) + 2/(x + 2) = 4/(x + 4). [3] (c) Plot the points A(2, 3), B ( 1,2) and C(0, 2) on the graph paper. Q.11. (a) A model of ship is made to a scale of 1 : 250. Calculate : (i) the length of the ship, if the length of model is 1.6 m. (ii) the area of the deck of the ship, if the area of the deck of model is 2.4 m2. (iii) the volume of the model, if the volume of the ship 1 km3. [3] (b) A two digit number contains the smaller of the two digits in the units place. The product of the digits is 24 and the difference between the digits is 5. Find the number. [3] (c) Without using set square or protractor, construct the quadrilateral ABCD in which LBAD = 45, AD = AB = 6 cm, BC = 3.6 cm and CD = 5 cm. (i) Measure LBCD. (ii) Locate the point P on BD which is equidistant from BC and CD. [4]
