REALISM / FORMALISM
Name _______________________ Date Due ________________________ Task Description Students are required to create a film inspired by their understanding of Realism and Formalism. (SL: 4-5 mins; HL: 6-7 mins). Students must create EITHER: 1) A film composed entirely of ONE LONG SHOT; or 2) An Experimental Film. Students will research their style, arrange their film crews, plan their sequence, storyboard or block it, and then create the actual film. Higher Level students must also create a TRAILER for their film (40-6- seconds) Objectives This project is designed to allow students to: * Explore the function of film: for example, to capture a perception of reality, to teach or uplift the mind, to express emotion, to create beauty, to bind a community or to praise a spiritual power. * Refresh and revise production skills * Develop cinematography and editing skills Film project must be accompanied by: an individual rationale for the film of no more than 100 words an individual rationale for the trailer of no more than 100 words (HL only) an individual written commentary of no more than 1,200 words (SL) and no more than 1,750 words (HL).
