This document is intended for Astro Employee as a step by step guide to create Employee Wireless Profile on Astro notebook. Before proceeding to the manual, please ensure: 1. All minimum requirements and prerequisites in item 1 are met. 2. Choose the section relevant to your notebook specification and preinstalled Operating Systems (Windows XP and Windows Vista).

1. Minimum Requirements and Prerequisites Before any new configuration or troubleshooting steps take place, please ensure the following prerequisites are met: 1.1. i. ii. 1.2. i. Hardware Employee must possess wireless-enabled laptop or computer. Wireless adapter must support 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n. Software Notebook must comply with Astro Computing Policies and Procedure. Specifically to the followings: a. b. Member of Astro domain. Installed with any of the following Operating Systems 1. Microsoft Windows XP (Service Pack 1, 2 or 3) 2. Microsoft Windows Vista (Business or Ultimate) 3. Mac OS c. Support WPA or WPA2 (Wireless Protected Access) 4. Microsoft Windows XP SP1 and later are automatically supported 5. Microsoft Windows Vista and Mac OS are automatically supported d. 1.3. i. ii. Installed with McAfee Antivirus software (latest update)
Credential Employee must possess valid Network ID (Domain ID). Employee must login to Astro Domain while using the Wireless.

For any variant of notebook models, the wireless parameters will still be the same. The following table shows the common Wireless parameters for Employee Wireless. 3. Configuration Guide for Windows Built-In Wireless Utility There are two methods of configuring Windows Vista; auto and manual. In auto, the connection wizard will guess the parameters such as Security Type, Encryption Type and Server Certificate Validation. In manual, all parameters are configured and hardcoded. Auto is the easier method, however, if the connection wizard fails to guest the correct parameters, the profile creation will not be successful. In that scenario, manual method must be used. 3.1. Microsoft Windows Vista Connect to a Network Wizard (auto) 1. Make sure the Wireless adapter is connected and turned on.

2. Wireless can be activated via; System Tray. Right click on Wireless Network icon, and click Connect to a network. OR

3. From the Wireless Network Connection window, choose Unnamed Network. Click Connect.

5. The wizard will prompt the wireless certificate name. Ensure the name is Astro Wifi, and click OK to accept.
6. Windows will try to connect to the wireless. Click Close when finish.

7. Go back to System Tray, and hover mouse pointer on Wireless Network icon. Check the status.

Microsoft Windows Vista Connect to a Network Wizard (manual) 1. Make sure the Wireless adapter is connected and turned on.

2. Either; At System Tray, right click on Wireless Network icon, and click Connect to a network. OR
3. From the wizard main window, click Set up a connection or network at the bottom.

10. At Astrowifi Wireless Network Properties, click Security tab. 11. Make sure Protected EAP (PEAP) is chosen. Click Settings.

13. Make sure Enable Fast Reconnect is selected. 14. Make sure Secured password (EAP-MSCAP v2) is selected. Click Configure. 15. Make sure to enable Automatically use my Windows logon name and password.
16. Click OK. 17. Click OK to close all windows. 18. Go back to System Tray, and hover mouse pointer on Wireless Network icon. Check the status.
