1. PURPOSE :
Determining the value of enthalpys change reaction ((H) that happen in the chemical reaction.
2. BASIC THEORY
Enthalpy is the amount of energy of a substance. Change of Enthalpy ((H) is amount of energy that required from a reaction.
3. HYPOTHESIS :
On the reaction between NaOH solution with NaCl solution produce NaCl and water according with equation of reaction : NaOH(aq) + HCl(aq) p NaCl(aq) + H2O(l)
5. WORK STEP
1. Put in 25ml of 1M NaOH solution into chemical glass and put in 25ml of 1M HCl solution into bekker glass. 2. Measure the temperature of both solution. Thermometer must be cleaned before and dried before it is used to measure the other solution. If both of the solutions temperature are different,so determine the averaga temperature. 3. Pour HCl solution into chemical glass that content NaOH solution, stir by thermometer, and look the value of the thermometer.
6. OBSERVATION SHEET
HCl 31r NaOH 31r Initial Average Temperature 31r Final Temperature 34r (T 3r
1. Given : m= 50 g c= 4,2 J/grC Find : Q = ? Answer : Q = m. c. (T = 50 . 4,2 . 3 = 630 J 2. Given : M = 1 V = 0,025 l Find : HCl = ? Answer : HCl = M . V = 1 . 0,025 = 0,025 mol b
(T = 3r
3. HCl + NaOH p NaCl + H2O 1 moll HCl b 1 moll NaOH b 1 moll NaCl b 1 moll H2O 0,025 0,025 0,025 0,025
Based on data, so we get the energy requered every 0,025 moll is 630 J. 1 moll = 630 : 0,025 = 25200 J = 25,2 KJ / moll So the equation of enthalpy reaction : . HCl + NaOH p NaCl + H2O ; (H = -Q = -25,2 KJ/ moll
7. CONCLUSION :
y Hyphotesa above is accepted :
On the reaction between NaOH solution with NaCl solution that produce NaCl and water according with eguation of reaction : NaOH(aq) + HCl(aq) p NaCl(aq) + H2O(l) y Value of energy that released from the reaction, every moll is -25,2 KJ/moll.
