Group name: R02 Berg The Paper Title: Performance analysis of various TCP congestion algorithms. Authors names: A.Wajahat, W.Ybing, N.Shafinaz Shahjahan Abstract: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is the most common protocol being used throughout the world for internet. TCP is reliable and it provides different types of congestion algorithms (HTCP, BIC, Cubic, Hybla, Westwood, Scalable, Illinois, Yeah, Reno, Veno, Highspeed and Vegas). By changing the link characteristics at the client side, the overall efficiency of the connection can be improved. In our paper we have examined the working of these algorithms over a file transfer from a server. To improve the link performance we have changed receiver buffer size, sender buffer size and different link parameters on Linux and analyzed the results on Wireshark. We have compared the results of all these algorithms in terms of Round Trip Time (RTT), Bandwidth efficiency, Packet loss and Download time to find the best working algorithm. Group name: R03 MAKT The Paper Title: Performance Analysis of a Synchronized Variable Data Rate OFDM System. Authors manes: Matiullah Khan, Muhammad Mustafa Tahseen, Ariful Islam. Abstract: One of the most important tasks in OFDM system is to achieve perfect synchronization between sub-carriers. Performance of OFDM system is adversely affected by synchronization errors and with occurrence of very high peak values in data signals. An efficient OFDM system will be that one, in which receiver is expected to compute the spectral values at those points corresponding to the maxima of individual sub-carriers. We propose to maintain synchronization in OFDM system that can be done by finding the maxima of sub-carriers by using the pre-defined threshold detection value technique. Implementation of this technique in MATLAB gives comparatively high performance than the non-synchronized OFDM techniques. Index Terms: OFDM, ISI, ICI, BER References: [1] M. Mourad, H. Salem, B. Group name: R05 Skog The Paper Title: Radio Frequency Hopping Efficiency: A case Study with WRT54GL Router as Kismet Drone Authors' names: Md. Abdul Matin Biswas, Ekhator Stephen Aimuanmwosa, & Adnan Khan Abstract: WRT54G as kismet drone will not channel hop by default. To implement channel hopping in the drone, we set out to examine dynamic frequency hopping (DFH) technique in wireless local area networks (WLAN). By using simple shell scripting to modify the kismet drone configuration files that reveal system usage and network performance. Resulting from the effect of a busy network at detection when the drone channel hops and when it does not channel hop. We examined the effect of DFH, channel dwell time, channel velocity and default channel protocol IEEE802.11a/b/g on all possible channels 1 to13 in the configuration (.conf) file. In this paper, we used two types of shell scripting with the modified kismet drone configuration file settings to make the drone hop better. Index Terms: Channel hopping, DFH, Radio frequency, WLAN. Authors names: Ashik Gurung; Pir Meher Ali Shah; Muhammad Shoaib Abstract: This paper is focused on the implementation of technologies such as multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) on LTE Physical Layer for Downlink communication in the Rayleigh channel of a modern cellular system. The simulation is performed for QPSK and 16-QAM. Data rate increases with increase in modulation order, but at the cost of increase in BER. To overcome this problem, MIMO techniques are adopted. In order to improve the BER, diversity order is increased. Simulations are performed on defined configuration of LTE. Index Terms: BER, LTE, MIMO, OFDM, Rayleigh channel. Group name: R06_ Pionjrer Title: Performance of Multicarrier Code Division Multiple Access over Rayleigh Fading Channel Authors: G.A.Jafri, M.Faisal & S.E.Yilmazer Abstract: Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access Schemes (MC-CDMA) are recently introduced in existing CDMA based systems to improve security, data transmission rate and to minimize Inter Symbol Interference (ISI). CDMA experience severe multipath fading which badly affects its performance. By transmitting identical narrowband Direct-Sequence (DS) waveforms using frequency diversity, in parallel with number of sub channels, multipath fading could be minimized. Implementation of this multi-carrier modulation technique in CDMA system is known as multi-carrier CDMA. In Rayleigh fading channel, due to multi-carrier modulation, when one subcarrier goes deep fade another subcarrier remains safe. Therefore MC-CDMA can combats multi-path fading better than CDMA and signal can be received in low bit error rate. Index Terms: MC-CDMA, Rayleigh Channels, Intersymbol interference References: [1] R. Studies by FCC (Federal Communications Commission) shows that lot of fixed assigned spectrum are not used efficiently. Such kind of spectrum scarcity can be overcome by the use of cognitive radios. Cognitive radio has the capability to allow the secondary users (SUs) to use the wireless licensed spectrum when it is not used by the primary users (PUs). In this paper, an Opportunistic Cognitive MAC (OC-MAC) Protocol is proposed that uses the spectrum efficiently whenever it is vacant. Group Name: - S01 Glada Paper title: - MODIFIED LMS BASED ALGORITHM for NOISE CANCELLATION in SPEECH ENHANCEMENT Authors Names:-Abel G. Mangam, Abhiram Chintakuntla, Mamun Ahmed Abstract: Speech enhancement is involved with the processing of the speech signal corrupted by noise in order to improve the quality. In many noise cancellation techniques, the change of the signal characteristics could be fast which requires the use of adaptive algorithms that converges rapidly. The conventional Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm has some drawbacks like low convergence speed and the higher computational complexity in real time speech enhancement. To overcome this, a new modified LMS based algorithm with momentum is introduced for a better convergence. The modified algorithm also has a low computational complexity as it uses the block based approach. Index terms: - Adaptive Noise Cancellation, Convergence, LMS Algorithm, Speech Enhancement. Group name: S02 ska The Paper Title: Finding the Epipoles of a Sequence of Images for the Pure Forward Translation of the Camera. Authors' names: Ravitej reddy Gopavaram, Hamidur Rahman, Sarath Chandra Uppalapati Abstract- This paper deals with the computation of epipoles of a sequence of images for the forward movement of the camera. If the images are taken from a moving camera, the pixel values of each image changes and finding epipoles becomes very difficult in that case. A better performance can be achieved by capturing a sequence of images for a small translation of the camera and then finding epipoles of each image. However, epipoles can be computed for any directional movement of the camera. The problem is investigated with emphasis on its application to autonomous robots and land vehicles. Authors names: Hamidreza Ordibehesht Abstract: AbstractThere was a time, after invention of computer, that human thought about how we can build a something, generally a robot, which can recognize people automatically and respond properly. Thereafter, Face Recognition become one of the most popular fields in Image Processing area. Nowadays, from a simple digital camera to complex applications of face recognition being used in FBI or even project NATAL of xbox360, face recognition is being used vastly. Extensively growing application areas for this phenomenon required fast face detection algorithms. One of the ways to get it fast is to have fast face detection. Authors' names: P. Deepak, Z. Katibeh, N. Damodar Abstract: A major problem in evaluating the picture quality in Image compression techniques is the extreme difficulty in describing the amount of degradation in the reconstructed image. The aim of this paper is to examine a set of objective quality measures for different compression ratios which are applied for different image compression techniques and also to determine the suitable objective picture quality measure. This paper analyzes the performance of the Set Partitioning In Hierarchical Tree (SPIHT) and Contourlet Transform (CT) techniques in terms of objective quality measures like Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Picture Quality Scale (PQS) and Maximum Difference (MD) for different compression ratios and also determines the suitable measure that effectively compares the above two techniques. Abstract: Now a days in Information theory Forward error correction is a system of error control for data transmission. Among several correcting code methods, LDPC methods are perfect for practical applications like Digital video broad casting and Wi-max. LDPC (Low-density Parity-check) block codes achieve exponential error performance on a communication channel like AWN and LDPC (Low-density Parity-check) convolution codes have been verified to be very close to the Channel capacity approaching achievements. In this paper we attempt to compare between LDPC convolution method and LDPC block method, and going to achieve bit error rate performance comparison of LDPC convolution and LDPC block codes based on several factors: Bit error probability, block error probability, equal decoding delay assumptions of encoding complexity and decoding computational complexity. Group name : S_08 MYROR. The paper title : Object Detection and Depth Estimation in Monocular Images. Authors' manes : Harish.M, Syed F. Husain, Deepak K. Eethakoti Abstract : Depth estimation using a single monocular image has been a subject of significant research recently. Most of the focus is on using probabilistic methods applied on raw data, which yields poor results. However, the performance can be improved, if visual cues like contour length that have a correlation with depth are extracted first. In this paper we present a new method for depth estimation of objects present inside a single monocular image. SURF descriptors are used to identify objects in an image and phase congruency based edge detection is used to calculate their contour length. The contour length when compared to the predetermined contour length of the same object yields depth information. Index Terms : Edge detection, Phase congruency, SURF descriptors, Template matching . Group name: S09 Tjrn. The Paper Title: Automatic Grading of Musical Performance for Novice Music Students. Authors' names: Aditya Sri Teja Palanki , Roger Sundh, Santhu Renu Vuppala. Abstract: Music students often need a way to get feedback of their progress. In this paper we describe how to use a well known method for speech recognition for analysis of a musical performance containing simple piano music. Using our analysis we are then able to make a decision of to what degree the performance resembles a recording of the same piece made by an established musician or a music teacher. This system is then used for automatic grading and assessment of the progress of a beginning music student. A prototype system has been proposed and verified using MatLab. To do so cooperative communication uses two types of diversity techniques called Decode and Forward (DF) and Amplify and Forward (AF) diversity techniques. In order for the DF diversity technique to be efficient different error compensation mechanisms are being used. In this paper repetition code, Reed-Solomon code and low density parity check code, which are error compensation mechanisms, that are used to reduce the bit error rate (BER) in DF diversity technique will be compared. The comparison will help to identify which one of the techniques provide better signal in terms of BER reduction. Group name: S12_Himmel The Paper Title: IMAGE COMPRESSION USING MODIFIED VERSION of PCA BASED ALGORITHM. Authors' names: Suryavamsiatresya Uppaluru, Sriseshukumar Basava, Venkata Rami Reddy Datla Abstract: Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is known for its efficiency in image compression to that of standard image compression techniques such as JPEG, DCT etc. To achieve high compression rate, few basis vectors are used in PCA thus resulting in more information loss. In this paper, we tried to overcome this problem by applying Vector Quantization (VQ) to block wise PCA. In this approach, instead of applying PCA to the whole data, the data is divided into set of blocks and then PCA is applied to each block which results in more efficiency and high compression rate with low information loss. Kommineni and Gannamaneni Geetha Chowdary. Abstract: Vehicle detection plays an important role in traffic control and management. In this paper we have performed vehicle detection based on image processing. For the vehicle detection only the boundary edges are needed. Conventional CANNY edge detection has some inadequacies as it detects only the boundary edges of the vehicle. In order to achieve a better detection of the boundaries of the vehicles, we used improved CANNY edge detection algorithm along with a sequence of morphological operations on the images taken by using aerial cameras. To improve the performance of CANNY operator, we used self-adaptive filter instead of Gaussian filter. Our main objective is to achieve the prominent edge detection results of the vehicles and count the number of vehicles. Authors' manes: A. Haritha Mallavarapu, B. Tahvili Iman, C. Yerramsetty Hemanth Abstract: Multi sensor image fusion is a technique to combine two or more images that provides more or complete information than the individual images. It has been emerged as a good research area for image processing community. The benefit areas are surveillance, medical imaging, geo-informatics, defense and avionics etc. Many scholars presented different image fusion algorithms over past one decade. It varies from simple pixel average to more complex algorithms like dual tree complex wavelet transform. The aim of our project is to reduce the complexity of these algorithms by using Discrete Cosine Transform-III(DCT-III) Algorithm. Fusion quality evaluation metrics are used to evaluate image fusion in our Algorithm. Performance of the presented Algorithm is very clear and simple. Authors' manes: Leela Krishna Gudupudi, Md.Zameari Islam, Sreelatha Vallabhaneni Abstract: The electrocardiogram (ECG) is generally used for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. In many of the biomedical applications it is necessary to remove the interference from ECG recordings. Several adaptive filter structures are proposed for noise cancellation. A new, simple and efficient LMS-based adaptive algorithm is developed for optimal removing of interference in ECG signals is introduced. It uses a modified LMS (mLMS)algorithm to adjust filter weights according to non-stationary properties of processed signal. The main objective of our work is to develop an adaptive algorithm to remove the contaminating signal and to obtain original ECG data. The ECG signals are simultaneously processed and analysed using the most widely used RLS algorithm and newly developed mLMS algorithm. The results are described. Abstract: Speech signal is contaminated by noise and interference of surrounding during the communication which degrade the quality of speech. So for the intelligibility we have to enhance the speech from noise and interference. To enhance the speech and suppress the noise, different algorithms are used. In this paper we are implementing commonly used spectral subtraction speech enhancement algorithm, but in modulation domain. Filter bank is heart of modulation domain which splits the broadband signal into several sub bands. Then Instantaneous Frequency carrier estimator technique is used to estimate the carrier and the modulating signal of every sub band. Implementing spectral subtraction on modulating signal and by inverse filter bank we get the enhanced speech signal. Abstract: Image segmentation plays a crucial role in many areas like biometrics. The major problems of Image Segmentation are random initialization and problem with missing or hidden data. Histogram based model is used to overcome the problem of random initialization and problem with missing or hidden data can be overcome by shaping parameter as a tool in Expectation and Maximization algorithm(EM). In this paper, we propose an algorithm in which histogram method is used to find shaping parameter from Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) of original image. Then the EM algorithm is used to determine the final parameters. Finally segmentation of approximation coefficients is determined by Maximum likelihood function. PHALGUNA KUMAR TALLAM, PRAPULLA KUMAR DOKKA and YOUSUF HAMEED ANSARI Abstract - The slow fading channels are of great importance in communication systems. The study of the fading channels brings out the noisy behaviour in the channels. In our paper we compare the three channels AWGN, Flat fading and Frequency selective fading in view of distorting image less by comparing the Bit error rate(BER) and Symbol error rate(SER) of each channel with respect to Signal to Noise ratio(SNR). We model the Flat fading and frequency selective fading channels using Clarkes model and Rayleigh distribution and then the channel estimation is done. AWGN channel distorts image less since the image is distorted by random noise whereas the Rayleigh fading channels are affected by random noise, noise due to phase distortion and dispersion. The Paper Title: Performance Comparison of JPEG 2000 Image Compression Standard with Embedded Zerotreee Wavelet (EZW) Encoding. Authors names: Vamsi K. Adhikarla, Kamil Parlak, Kalyan C. Boddapati. Abstract: In this paper, we compare the performance of Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) 2000 image compression standard with Embedded Zerotree Wavelet (EZW) coding. JPEG2000 standard uses Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) for transforming the time domain image to joint time frequency domain, which helps in providing the variable frequency resolutions at different time instances. In JPEG2000, the DWT decomposes the image in to its corresponding frequency sub-bands. The coefficients in each sub-band are then coded independently and transmitted as separate bits. But this approach has a poor performance when the transmission bandwidth is very limited. A new encoding technique called Embedded Zerotree Wavelet (EZW) coding exploits the multi-resolution properties of wavelet transform and provides adjustable data rates for different target bit-rates. Web sites like you tube adopt video encoding strategies which require high bit rates in order to maintain a standard video quality of 720p. This usage of bitrates has an adverse effect for the service provider. Thus we focused on proposing an encoding strategy such that the video is available at the acceptable quality and at lower bit rates. Major portion of the experiment focuses on varying the encoding parameters like frame size, frame rate on ffmpeg tool using H.264 encoding standard and finding the suitable set of parameters such that the video can be streamed continuously at lower bitrates. Amitesh Kumar. Abstract: With the ever increasing demand for better quality of service, the traditional IP networks are becoming uncompetitive. Emerging technologies like MPLS provide stringent QOS guarantees but cannot be implemented on the existing IP infrastructure. There is a need to improve the performance of IP networks to support better quality of service. We present a paradigm for enhancing the routing capability of IP networks and optimize the existing networks by combining two state of art interior gateway routing protocols OSPF (Open Shortest Path First); a link state protocol, and a distance vector routing protocol EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol). The implementation is done by comparing the performance of the developed IP network with identical label switched network using OPNET. Index Terms: EIGRP, MPLS, OSPF, Througnput. References: [1] S.G. Abstract: Mobile Wireless Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a self-configuring network of mobile devices connected by wireless links. MANET has different routing protocols; each has different performance in the network. This paper compares the performance of two different MANET protocols namely Temporally-Ordered Routing Algorithm (TORA) and Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) by varying the Pause Time and the Network size using HTTP traffic. The analysis had been done through Optimized Network Engineering Tool (OPNET) Modeler. The performance of protocols had been analyzed by the following metrics: Delay Time and Throughput. This paper shows that the pause time has no effect on the performance metrics for both protocols, and it shows that OLSR has smaller Delay Time and better Throughput than TORA. Abstract: A Mobile Ad hoc Network comprises of wireless nodes with no prior infrastructure. One of the main issues in MANETs is Scalability as increase in network load makes routing very difficult. So, it is necessary to determine the efficient routing protocol which can perform well and adapts itself to the dynamic nature of network when network load is increased. The purpose of this paper is to determine the efficient routing protocol by analyzing and comparing the performance of OLSR and TORA using TCP and UDP in OPNET. Parameters like Network throughput and end-to-end delay have been used to evaluate the performance. Evaluation of the results shows that TORA performs efficiently than OLSR when the number of nodes is gradually increased. Index Terms: MANET, OLSR, TORA, TCP, UDP, OPNET References: [1] A. Abstract: A Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile nodes forming a temporary network without using any centralized access point, infrastructure, or centralized administration. In this paper we present a comprehensive TCP and UDP performance evaluation study of Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad hoc on-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocols in different network sizes with variant as New Reno. The performance parameters on the basis of which routing protocols are to be graded are mainly throughput and delay. OPNET is used to implement the scenario and the conclusions are drawn based on the simulation results and the comparisons between them will be elaborated. Index Terms: AODV, DSR and MANET. Ebna Masum Abstract : Using conventional filters for splitting the signal will lead to the presence of aliasing in the reconstructed signal. So, sub banding is performed using Perfect Reconstruction Quadrature Mirror Filters (PRQMF) in order to reduce the effect of aliasing. This paper focuses on analyzing the performance of two-channel PRQMF and the factors that influence alias free reconstruction of signals using sub band coding. With the help of simulation results in MATLAB, we infer that alias free reconstruction of signal is not possible if sub bands are selected non-uniformly.Uniform sub bands helps in maintaining the speech quality. Authors Names: Ujjal Dongol, Vamsi Krishna Konakalla, Sriram Lakshminarayana Abstract In a MANET, there is no centralized infrastructure to monitor or allocate the resources used by the mobile nodes. Frequently changing network topology needs dynamic routing protocols which are efficient in allocating the resources. We do performance comparison between the modified AODV algorithm (uses reverse route discovery mechanism) and existing AODV (uses single route reply) and demonstrate the tradeoffs in packet delivery ratio, throughput and delay. The MANET is simulated using NS2 in linux environment. Simulation result shows that modified AODV performs well when link breakage is frequent. Index Terms AODV, MANET, modified AODV, NS2. Abstract: Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANET) are ephemeral, self-configuring dynamic networks. TCP shows poor performance in MANET s, because the high mobility nature of nodes in MANET s causes the congestion in the network. TCP NEWRENO, a flavor of TCP is a congestion control algorithm and shows improved performance in MANET s. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of two on-demand reactive routing protocols i.e., AODV and DSR under TCP NEWRENO traffic. The simulations are performed using NS-2.34 simulator and the final results indicate that AODV outperforms DSR when the performance metrics like Average end-to-end delay and Throughput are considered. DSR transcends AODV if packet delivery ratio is considered. Index Terms: AODV, DSR, MANET. References: I. Authors name: Bhuma Venkata Srikanth, Pokala Bhargav and Awais Salman Qazi. Abstract: Modern techniques in networking have evolved a diverse range of opportunities to resolve the challenging task of traffic engineering. Therefore, with a principle focus on video conferencing that has gained popularity world over, we contrive to optimize video traffic by using MPLS than conventional IP networks. MPLS will be a promising technology for real time applications that provide low network delays and efficient utilization of network resources. To substantiate this, certain scenarios of both IP and MPLS directed networks are modeled using OPNET to simulate and provide comparative performance statistics of throughput and packet delay. We illustrate that MPLS has the ability that makes it stand out to IP by analyzing the simulation results of both networking mechanisms. Index Terms: IP, MPLS, OPNET, TE (traffic engineering). Asad Abstract: The demands for high speed internet services over satellite links have been increasing over the years. Meeting such demands is a challenging task because achieving high data rates using TCP over satellite links can be difficult. Several TCP enhancement techniques have been proposed to overcome this difficulty. In this paper, an effort has been made to compare the performances of four of the widely used techniques, namely - New Reno, SACK (Selective Acknowledgement), Tahoe and Westwood in terms of two major parameters, congestion window size and end-to-end delay. A detailed comparative measurement study is made by simulating all the four techniques in OPNET to decide which enhancement technique would increase the TCP performance over satellite links to a maximum extent. Authors' names: Naga Pavan Kishore Channamsetty, Theera Yukong, Yeshwanth Alahari Abstract: Multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is one of the most promising technique to the fourth generation mobile communication systems, because it can realize high-bit-rate and high capacity transmission by multiplexing information symbols of many users with orthogonal codes. In this paper we implement Multicarrier code division multiple access (MCCDMA) using WALSH code and TDL Channel model in Rayleigh fading channel. We observe that Bit Error Rate (BER) of MC CDMA Rayleigh fading channel is less when compared to the theoretical Rayleigh fading channels. However, optimization of the wireless network performance is of paramount importance. To solve this issue, several variants of TCP congestion control algorithms have been already proposed. However if one looks more carefully, a congestion control algorithm is proved to be efficient depending on the network topology it is being applied to. In this paper, we have considered a congested network and compared performance efficiencies of Reno, New Reno and SACK by observing fast retransmit, fast recovery and retransmission timeout mechanism and throughput results. We observe that New Reno performs best in optimising performance in case of increased number of nodes. Authors names: Ravi kiran Gunnam, Venkata Sravan Kumar Maddineni, Sravan Kumar Nampally ABSTRACT: Packet losses in a MANET are mainly due to congestion and frequent link failures. To optimize the TCP in a MANET we use congestion control algorithms at transport layer. We propose a combination of table driven algorithm at network layer and congestion controlled TCP to form a robust communication system. Abstract: The people of the modern world are very much dependent on IP (Internet Protocol) network services like video streaming and VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Queuing is one of the vital mechanisms in traffic management System. Each router in the network must implement some queuing techniques that governs how packets are buffered while waiting to be transmitted. There are many queuing techniques like WFQ (Weighted Fair Queuing), Priority Queuing and Fair Queuing . This paper gives a comparative analysis of WFQ (Weighted Fair Queuing) and priority queuing. The study has been carried out on end to end delay, jitter, and throughput by using OPNET Simulator. The simulation results shows that WFQ technique has lower end to end delay and jitter, maximum throughput than priority queuing. From this, the WFQ provides better performance than the priority queuing in IP networks. Index terms: WFQ, OPNET, Delay, Jitter References: [1] Liu Tong (Res. Inst. of Commun. Danesh, Xin Qu, and Hailay M. Teklemariam Abstract: In this paper, a throughput comparison of Westwood and HTCP is to be simulated and tested on WLAN network. When packet loss is sensed in the wireless medium, HTCP responds with the traditional AIMD algorithm to resolve the loss and restart the TCP session. HTCP considers packet loss as congestion. However TCP Westwood has special approach to differentiate packet loss over wireless from congestion on wired link. Westwood estimates available bandwidth when packet loss has encountered based on the received acknowledgement .Hence Westwood adjusts congestion window and slow start threshold which promotes faster recovery and reliable congestion avoidance. This technique enhances adaptability over WLAN. With regards to throughput performance and adaptability over wireless media, Westwood yields better than HTCP. Group name: I02_Seger The Paper Title: Measurement of QoS in VoIP Traffic under Multiple Connection Speeds with Varying Congestion Authors Names: Khawar Shehzad, Maysam Mehraban, Sagar Sapkota Abstract: In this modern era of Unified Communications where virtually all circuit switched technologies are almost entirely shifted towards IP, the QoS (Quality of Service) for certain integral services, such as voice service, should be tested at all tiers of IP infrastructure. In this paper we will take a new look at how VoIP service behaves at multiple connection speeds, and what factors interrelate while we switch between different connection speeds. The network model will carry in it all aspects of traditional VoIP service in coexistence with normal IP traffic. The results will focus on how jitter and packet loss must be minimized. The conclusive idea behind the work is to define solution for jitter and packet loss optimization in terms of link speed mismatch or opportunity, and utilization rather than only focusing on one connection speed, fixed utilization, and zero growth factor.
