PEOPLE living on Ledsham Road are readying themselves for plans to build up to
2,000 homes on farmland on their doorstep.
Redrow Homes wants to develop the high quality farmland, south of Ledsham
Road.
The Ledsham and Manor Action Group has
been formed to provide a united voice in
opposition to the plans, which they claim will
destroy the countryside.
The Group is currently preparing its
objections for submission to Cheshire West
and Chester Council as the development
will have a major impact on traffc and the
general environment of the area if approval is
given later this year.
The aims of the group are to support and collectively represent residents in their
opposition to the proposed development.
The group also aims to become the local focus for the neighbourhoods of Little
and Great Sutton to ensure that local people have the most effective voice in
formulating local planning and other local policies.
They are doing a door-to-door petition in an attempt to gain more opposition to
the plans.
To fnd out more, please visit the groups website at www.LaMactiongroup.co.uk
l The Ledsham and Manor Action Group is asking people who live in Green Lane to
get in touch if they have been affected by fooding. Drainage and fooding will be major
issues of any planning application for Ledsham Road.

IN THE NEWS
Tribute to tragic crash victim
The family of a woman killed in a road traffc
collision in Little Sutton last month have paid
tribute.
Helene Dickinson, age 34, of Handforth, was
involved in a head on collision on the notorious
A550 Welsh Road, which sadly resulted in her
tragic death.
She was the daughter of Sue and Barry, big sister
to Caroline and girlfriend to Ian and will be greatly
missed.
helene was looking forward to becoming an
Aunty and was a keen animal lover. Her pet
tortoise Ralph and her cat, Cora, with whom she
shared her apartment, will be cared for by her
friends.
School singathon
LITTLE Sutton CE Primary pupils and staff are attempting their frst ever
Singathon non-stop singing all afternoon on Thursday 1st March. This is
to celebrate National Sing Up Day which takes place the same week, and to
showcase the great singing that goes on in the school.
Library is well red!
ELLESMERE Ports library is to glow red for a month to highlight cardiovascular
disease as part of the British Heart Foundations (BHF) Red for Heart campaign
which takes places during National Heart Month.
During March the library will be foodlit red at dusk for a month to bring home
to local residents and visitors to the town that National Heart Month is the ideal
time to think about your own heart health.
The national campaign Red for Heart will also raise vital funds for the BHF to
help beat the nations biggest killer.
Councillor Angela Claydon, Mayor of Ellesmere Port, joined local family the
Palins, who have two children with a genetic heart disease, to mark the occasion
as the lights were switched on for the frst time.
Cllr Claydon said: Heart disease is a very important issue which affects a great
number of people and I am proud and delighted to be able to take part in such a
worthwhile event.
Heart disease remains this countrys biggest killer and can affect anyone but
there are things that we can do in our everyday lives to minimise risk and raise
awareness in others too.
Ellesmere Port is proud to be part of the BHFs campaign this year - we are
already a Heart Town and are working very hard to promote heart health to our
residents. The library is a central focal point within the town and I am sure the
lighting will look fantastic.

Cloudy2Clear Windows
Service With A Smile!
Its been a crazy
few months for
Cloudy2Clear
Windows. The
company which
specialises in repairing
windows which are
steamed up, broken
or damaged by
replacing the panes
not the frames has
grown rapidly as
homeowners take
advantage of their
services.
Managing Director
Alan Ball feels that its
all about service. Our
product is simple. If
your double glazing
is misted up we can
replace the glass at
a fraction of the cost
of a new window, in
any type of frame,
and with a new 5 year
guarantee. But its not
just about saving people
money, although that
obviously helps. Many
tradespeople have
struggled since last year
and I honestly feel that
during the good times a
minority perhaps didnt
focus on customer
care as much as they
should have done. We
make sure we turn up
when we say we will,
do the job the customer
requires and leave
their house as clean as
a whistle. I often get
comments back from
customers on how they
really didnt expect that
sort of service which,
in a way, is very sad for
the service industry as a
whole.
Cloudy2Clear service
the Chester, Wirral &
North Wales areas and
Alan is fnding that his
approach is a major
factor in his success.
The truth is that its
not just the personal
satisfaction that I get
from doing a good job
but also it makes good
business sense.
I get a huge amount of
business from friends
and family of people
Ive done work for,
which just goes to show
how much a little bit of
effort is appreciated.
So, if your windows
are steamed up, broken
or damaged give Alan a
call for a free quotation
on 0800 61 21 118 and
hell be happy to help!

MAjOR works to improve and widen
the Whitby road/Sutton Way/Stanney
Lane junction in Ellesmere Port will
continue until the summer.
The initial phase of construction will
undertake carriageway widening and
footway works on Whitby Road. Traffc
management and disruption will be
minimal during this phase and normal
fow of traffc will be maintained.
executive Member for Community and
Environment, Councillor Lynn Riley,
said: We want to make sure that this
key junction in the town can cope with
the growing traffc fow and also offer
safe crossing points for increased
numbers of pedestrians and cyclists to
the new college and academy building.
Local Councillor and Board member,
Councillor justin Madders, said: Very
early on in our plans we recognised that
this crossroads could be a focal point
for the town, and would be one of the
frst things many visitors to the town

We would like to see this junction
become a hub of activity, capable of
giving motorists and pedestrians a
welcoming view, as well as linking in
with our plans for a green loop around

fraud totalling nearly 3,400.
Danielle Merryweather of 43 Newnham
Drive, pleaded guilty to three offences
of failing to declare changes in her
circumstances to Cheshire West and
Chester Council and JobCentre Plus that
she knew would affect her entitlement to
Housing Beneft, Council Tax Beneft and
Income Support. Namely she failed to
declare that her partner had moved into
her address with her.
Miss Merryweather was overpaid
a total of 3,379, a substantial
loss to public funds.
The court imposed a fne totalling
150. Miss Merryweather was
also ordered to pay 85 towards
the prosecution costs and a 15
victim surcharge.
Miss Merryweather is also
required to fully repay the
overpaid beneft to Cheshire

THE Ellesmere Port and
Chester Parkour Collective,
a group of athletes who
practice the sport of free
running, are to consult with
local residents on their
plans for outdoor provision
in the town.
After approaching the
Councils Our Place team in
2011 for assistance in trying
to create outdoor provision for
them to practice their sport,
Our Place and Groundwork
Cheshire are now working
together to help them achieve
their goal.
The team is taking part in a
series of events across the
town over the coming weeks
and will be looking to speak
with residents to let them
know about the sport and the
groups plans for the future.
Parkour Collective member,
Craig McNeil, said: The
support we have received
so far has been fantastic
and has really helped us to
head the group in the right
direction.
We will now meet local
residents to share our plans
for the future and hopefully
they will support us in
bringing a new sport to the
town.
Funding
Through working with
the Our Place team and
Groundwork the group are
now constituted and have a
bank account and group logo.
They have been sponsored
through the ellesmere Port
Area Partnership Boards
commissioning of Councils
Kick Start funding designed
to invest in early stage ideas
which have potential and
need only a small amount of
money.
They have already taken
part in a number of events
including Cadburys Spot V
Stripes event organised by
Groundwork Cheshire, where
they demonstrated their skills.
Local member, Councillor
Mark Henesy, said: The
ellesmere Port and Chester
Parkour Collective is
starting to get involved with
communities throughout
ellesmere Port and share with
them a sport which involves
a great deal of talent and
practice.
They are currently sharing
their plans for outdoor
provision and I would urge
anyone who would like to fnd
out more about their sport to
come along to any one of the
events they are participating
in and meet them.

BEX
This young all white male cat came to us as a stray. Can you offer him his ideal
home? He is very friendly and loves attention. An experienced cat owner is
needed as he sometimes gets overexcited and will give you a little nip but
usually it is only in play. Because of this we would not consider homing him with
a family with young children
Bex is about two years old he is neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Stanley is three years old and very friendly. Unfortunately Stanley has the FIV
virus so must be kept as an indoor cat. He will make a very loyal and loving
companion. He follows his fosterer around everywhere and when she sits down
Stanley thinks it is especially so he can sit on her lap. Stanley is the perfect
companion, he is happiest on your knee, or on the newspaper you are trying to
read.

Cats with FIV make ideal indoor companion animals.

Blue is this handsome boy is a bit on the nervous side but then who wouldn't
be after finding himself shut out of his home in the coldest of weather, when
his owner moved out and left him behind.

We are looking for a new loving home for Blue without children or other pets,
where he can take time to settle.

Please ring 0151 355 9813 if you are interested in homing any of these cats and we will arrange a home

Can you give a cat a home?
SIMON
Quiet, stress-free home for me
please
Simon was born approximately
August 2009. He is neutered micro
chipped and fully vaccinated. He
has been wormed and treated for
feas and ticks recently. He is a
friendly boy who is a little unpre-
dictable
when stressed so not recommend-
ed for a family with small children
or other animals. He loves to have
his head and ears tickled but is not
really a lap cat. His owner is reluc-
tant to let him go but he does not
get on with the other cat. Simon
needs a home without children or
other pets. He knows how to use a
cat fap and litter tray. Ref: H12-04
BELLA & BERTIE
Brother and sister want to stay together
These lovely young cats were Cat Protection kittens last
year and are now 10 months old, Tabby and white from
the same litter. They have come back into care as their
owners circumstances have changed and she can no
longer look after them. They are devoted to each other
so we will only home them as a pair. Bella and Bertie
are fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. They
are used to living with other cats and also a dog but not
young children. Ref: H12-08
Would you like to foster for Cats Protection?
Do you have a garden with enough space to erect
a pair of cat pens? Fosterers are vital to our branch,
as without them the aims of the charity would not be
achieved. They work voluntarily, caring for our cats
whilst they are waiting for a new loving home.

Q. I have a gift voucher for a facial with you and I was
wondering if I should use it before I go on my skiing
holiday next week or wait until I get back. When would I
get the most beneft from it?
A. If you can only have one facial I would always
recommend having it on the return from your holiday.
In fact, I am not a big advocate of doing facials too
close to a holiday, particularly one that will involve
your skin being exposed to a great deal of sunlight
such as skiing or beach holidays. This is because
most facials include exfoliating steps to thoroughly
remove dead skin cells which gives a lovely
bright, fresh look to the skin, but removes
a layer of protection. Keep your dead skin
cells in place for another week, protect
your skin further with a good quality
high protection sunscreen and enjoy the
benefts of your facial at the end of your
holiday. To fnd out more about the types
of facials which are most benefcial post-
holiday visit the March newsletter page of
my website www.angelabartlett.co.uk
Q. I would like to give myself a fresher look
with my makeup routine for Spring. What
can you suggest?
A. Firstly, I would try changing your
foundation for an illuminating tinted
moisturiser which will add a touch of
radiance to your skin tone. I would also
recommend a good eyebrow shape,
eyebrow tint and eyelash tint which will
give you defnition around the eyes without
the need for very much eye makeup. Try
changing your lipstick colour too, swap
muted neutral shades or winter berry
colours for clear, fresh pinks or corals
(depending on your skin colouring) and add
a dab of gloss to fnish. A light sweep of
bronzer on your cheekbones to warm your
cheeks will give you a healthy, natural glow
for a Spring look.

Problems at work Part One
Latest Government statistics show that
stress costs the UK economy approximately
13.5 billion each year through lost
productivity and increased illness at work.
And its estimated that 70% of visits to the
doctors and 85% of serious illness is triggered
or made worse by stress.
Monday mornings are bad enough, but if
youre experiencing a serious problem at work,
the prospect of a new working week can literally
make you sick with stress and worry.
Each year an average 100,000 people in
England and Wales apply for employment
tribunals on the grounds that they have been
unfairly treated or unfairly dismissed by their
employer.
But despite problems at work being relatively
common, few people have a clear idea of all
their rights at work, as employment law can be
very complicated.
If you think you have been unfairly treated by
your employer you should take legal advice at
the earliest opportunity.
A solicitor who deals with employment law
will be able to help you fnd the best solution to
your problem.
Enlisting the help of a solicitor doesnt
automatically mean that you are heading
towards an employment tribunal or a court
action; your solicitor will actually advise you to
try and sort out your problem through internal
company grievance procedures.

WeLcoMe To SpRIng
GardeninG by JaneT HeaTH
aS the days lengthen new green shoots
get going and the frst fowers appear
on forsythia and ribes sanguineum
or fowering currant. Some camellias
have already fowered in warmer
locations in January before the cold
weather of February. The evergreen
scented Clematis armandii fowers
in March and can be a vigorous plant
capable of covering a wall or fence
once established.
Perennials are starting to grow and if
you have moisture retentive soil, plant
Doronicum or Leopards Bane with bright
yellow daisy like fowers that appear early
in spring. I also love the forget me not blue
and pink fowers of Pulmonaria which
arrive before the superb green, white and
silvery leaves that make such good ground
cover. They are not keen on full sun so plant
them out of direct sun in a shady part of the
garden.
Spring bulbs are at their best so in addition
to the various daffodils and narcissus there
are Scillas and Muscari or Grape Hyacinth. If
you have rich well drained soil try Anemone
blanda with white or blue fowers suitable for
a rock garden or front of the border.
Cut back any remains of dead foliage from
last season. I also go round the whole garden
giving everything a feed of pelleted chicken
manure in March. If you have the energy,
mulch all borders with well rotted manure
after removing all the weeds.
Prune your rose bushes hard, back to
outward facing buds on strong new growth.
Remove the little spindly shoots and cut out
old or dead wood. Then give them a mulch
of organic matter and a good feed of rose
fertilizer.
The vegetable gardening season beckons
so prepare your vegetable plot by digging
it over and removing the weeds then cover
with black polythene to keep the weeds from
germinating and also to warm up the soil
for planting seeds later in the month. Sow
seeds outside such as carrots, broad beans,
lettuces, radishes and peas. Plant out your
frst early potatoes and asparagus tubers.
Make sure you have feece or cloches ready to
protect them from frost. Indoors you can sow
seeds of tomatoes, peppers and chillis on the
windowsill.
