Step 1: MYAIESEC.net Setup.

Logically our first step should of course be to get registered on MYAIESEC.net and have your account setup and working in full order. This will be arranged and facilitated through your local VP OGX. To have your EP form put on available you will be required to have submitted your fully completed EP contract including; date of birth, passport number, region of birth (or country). Once available you will be able to search and apply for Internships. Your VP OGX should as well assign you to a team, once completed your menu for Team Member under AIESEC Programs should look similar to this but most importantly should include both Browse Exchange and Supply and Demand Management.

Step 2: Search Methods.

Ensure that you are familiar and updated with how to use MYAIESEC.net website. This is an important first step because if you want to move on and search for TNs you should of course be able to do this independently yourself without relying always on the support of other people. There are five different methods we would recommend to use for searching, either in combination or independently: Browse Internship [here] Here you can search for general lists of Internships for the different exchange programs or you have the option to add in criteria to tailor your search by Country, Backgrounds, Languages. Supply and Demand Management [here] Here you are able to search Internships specifically by the background that is required. This is very useful if you are looking specifically for one background, i.e Banking or Economic Research + Forecasting and then see all the Internships available with this background. You can tailor this down by regions to create more specific searches. Available Forms Tracker [here] [download] Around the end of the first week on each month AIESEC International publishes an excel file containing a listing of all Traineeships which are currently available. Using the Power Point linked above you will be able to use filters on this file to narrow down the search TNs appropriate for yourself. Please note however that as its an offline file it wont represent the current state of the data base days after its published. There is also a separate version that AIESEC Belgium publishes with Internships displayed according to language (French, Dutch or only English) [download] Country Search Tools [here] Many countries publish their own lists of Internships on a Google document accessible outside of MYAIESEC.net. This can be an effective method of searching by country because here you will see more information displayed on a spread sheet such as language, background, work fields and dates. This of course will save you time as you wont have to click into a TN form only to find out it has a requirement that you dont meet. TN Advertisements [here] We have found an effective method of promotion Internships to Belgium students on the database through compiling the listings of TNs we would like to promote instead of always emailing you. In this document which will be updated at least 2 times a week by the national you will see relevant and up-to-date offering of Internships available for you. Like the country search tool you will see information about languages, work fields and dates displayed on the document allowing you to search only the most appropriate Internships for yourself

Step 3: Searching Strategy.

Once you have an Idea how to search for traineeships its about investing your time wisely and searching smart to maximise the results you from the time you spend searching. We recommend sitting down for several hours at one time to go through the database and our support search tools to make a list of 15 20 Internships that you find suitable based on your profile and personal criteria, ensuring that you keep record of the relevant TN IDs at this stage. 1. Once you have this list of TNs go through and ensure that you are a suitable candidate based on their requirements because its a waste of time to apply for TNs you are not going to be a suitable match for. 2. Go through your TN list again now and rank all the possibilities in accordance with your preference, which TN is your first choice, which is your second

Step 4: Applying for Traineeships

Now that you have completed your searching and have a list of Internships you are interested in, its time to send some applications! 1. Ensure both your EP form and CV are up-to-date 2. Draft a general cover letter for the AIESEC exchange program and the International internship experience. 3. From here apply for the top 15 Internships on your list, ensuring in each application email that you: I. Clearly follow any instructions outlined on the TN form II. Use the TN ID as the email subject header III. Keep the email short and to the point IV. Ask for a timeline of shortlisting and a reply even if you are not shortlisted V. Attach your CV, Cover letter as well as EP ID for the TN manager to view 4. Record on a spread sheet or note book the TNs you have applied to and the date of the applications for future reference. As you get positive, negative response you can note this down allowing you to easily track each application to see which ones are still open. 5. After 10 days reply to any remaining TNs on your application list. Step 5: Following up Applications

Unfortunately sometimes TN managers do not respond to your applications which can be for a variety of reasons however there are some common mistakes you can make which may leave your emails responded to: Did I have all the requirements for the traineeship? If not this looks really bad on your behalf as it show you havent read the TN form properly, generally in this case your email will get deleted and you will have no response Did you follow the instructions in the TN form? Sometimes TN managers may ask you to email to a separate account than their own, or to compile your application in a certain way, if you havent complied with this then you application was probably deleted. Did you ask for a reply? Usually TN managers present applications to the company in shortlists, they may take 7-10 days to compile a shortlist and so you may not receive a response until that shortlist is compiled in 7 10 days. Asking for a timeline on the shortlist insures you know how long you should wait for a positive or negative response.

If you answered yes to all the above questions and still didnt get a reply in seven days, then simply and easily find you previous mail and add a new message to the thread following up the TN manager and asking for a reply. If you dont get a response from here then you can ask your EP buddy of VPOGX for assistance. We have a standard action follow for this [here] to best assist you.
