Read the Fine Print in Employment Contracts Today I almost 'signed my life away' to a company..

But I read the fine print and realized three particular stipulations in the contract were unfairly on the company side: this gave all the power to the company and residing in unscrupulous hands, that contract could conceivably ruin my family and son's future. How? One of the stipulations, quite standard in today's paranoid atmosphere, essentially gave company access to any of my family assets if I 'screwed up' in company eyes. The wording was very clever of course. But essentially in obfuscating legalese, they were gaining legal access to my family assets. Of course, the company decides what a 'screw up' is on my part, but.. That's way too much power over my son's future. Way too much. So the moral here is: DON'T LET ANY COMPANY TAKE YOUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE AWAY BASED ON YOUR DESPERATE NEED FOR A JOB. If you encounter a stipulation like that in any employment contract, simply X it out and initial it. Believe me, there are many companies who accept modified contracts, MANY. Don't let pressure from anyone, including your spouse, jeopardize your children's future. Read the fine print. Look for things like right to injunction or termination or waiver.. These will be associated with paragraphs specifically 'raping' your worker rights. As loyal and conscientious employees, which most of us are, we're entitled to our version of these statements: 1. We are entitled to a 'sacred trust' between company and employee. 2. If either party breaks that trust, either party can terminate employment without any legal obligation toward the other. 3. Conscientious workers are entitled to compensation for wrongful termination. 4. Either party can terminate employment without any consequences (with exception above). 5. Neither party can waive these core-rights or append or modify them. As you can see, by 'the Devil' attacking me in this way, he's created a 'golden opportunity' for me to show the world what core-worker rights are. If you question my sanity or perspective, read some other of my articles. With an open mind or heart, you will see the Truth of them. One final note: instead of printing out those 20 worker rights I published before, the easier thing to do is print out the 5 core-rights above, sign them, and present them to your employer with the express purpose of replacing the existing employment contract. If you're a new hire, you can bring this document to be signed by both parties replacing your initial contract. If we don't do this, we're neglecting worker rights and our children's future.
