An Evangelistic Message From The Author
– The Author’s Preface –
The fact that there is a Sovereign, Holy GOD is of very little interest to the population at large. Mankind
has dishonored HIS name with increasing frequency in these last days. It is true that this is the “great falling
away” which is declared to be coming in these last days. (2 Thes.2:3)
Even within the ranks of the Spiritual there seems to be a short supply of writing upon this subject of
sovereignty. The shelves are full of the books that delineate the responsibility of man but there are few pages
on the absolutes of sovereignty. This small offering only touches the surface in respect to the need in this
area. There must be some witness in these dark days. GOD has opened the door and it is with fear and
trembling that this servant enters the open “throne room” to offer this tribute to HIS Free Grace and
Immutable Sovereignty. So, it seems that these properities are the “Secrets of Sovereignty.”
The second chapter deals with “The Person Of Sovereignty.” This Spectral Appearance of the
GODHEAD is often overlooked because of the “many-faceted” personality of the FATHER. The word
“SPECTER” has to do with the terrifying nature or appearance of the subject. The truth in the “sub-title”
of this chapter is seen only as we turn the subject to many different vantage points. Jehovah is 1) the Staff
Of Sovereignty in that Sovereignty offers the “Bread” of Theology to the humble believer - It needs not to
be understood - only believed and it feeds the honestly hungry. (“With my soul have I desired thee in the
night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early...” Isa.26:9) GOD then is 2) the Standard Of
Sovereignty for a world filled with anarchy - HE stands as the needed authority to sort out the confused
philosophy of depraved and impotent mankind (“For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the
scribes.” Matt.7:29). So now, we see the State Of Sovereignty is tied to the expression of HIS person in
terms of mighty glory (“...that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our GOD.” Ex. 8:
1 0).
In these opening lines on this blessed subject, let me say that there are many things that could be said and
will remain uncovered by this small treatment. These will best be left to the lines of others who will have
a broader scope and richer pen than mine. The Attributes of GOD are dependent upon HIS Sovereignty. His
Omnipresence is the absolute display of HIS Sovereignty over time and space. HIS Omniscience is the
declaration of HIS Sovereignty over collected intellect. His Holiness is a statement of Sovereignty over
material as well as Spiritual forces. To “Acquaint now thyself with HIM....” is to search out the depth of
GOD’S nature. The blessed study of the nature of GOD is filled with the most marvelous thrills of the
Spiritual life. We are going to open ourselves to the observation of the nature of GOD. These elements of
HIS divine nature are sometimes called HIS attributes. In his “Body of Divinity”, Dr. John Gill, in the 1700's
has said that the nature of God and the attributes of GOD are separate. Dr. Strauss (in his book “The First
Person”) has taken the position that they are the same -1 know not; but I do know that “GOD is and is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Heb. 11:6) In this work I will seek HIM out for us all!! And we
may expect to have the reward of HIS choice.
The third chapter includes examples of “Preaching on Sovereignty.” Sermons of Sovereignty and the
study that produces it has given way to the pressures of this hour. There has been an overwhelming demand
on the modem preacher. Be he a pastor, an evangelist, a missionary or lay minister; the demands of time and
the massive pressure to produce “something” has cost the saints this topical muse from the pulpit. I hope
the few lines in this book will draw the preacher’s mind to these thoughts again - will treat the lay reader
with the rare view of the Sovereignty of GOD and will cause a rise of courage in all so that we may all
believe that GOD is ALMIGHTY. This matter is in direct opposition to the Flesh and the Flesh is a mighty
opposition to the proper view of the Sovereign FATHER. Let us worship HIM for HIS Mighty Works
(“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained...”
Psa. 8:3-9), for HIS Manifest Word (“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto
the simple.” Psa. 119:130) and for HIS Merciful Will (“...If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”
James 4:15). Out of all the objections none can stand against the Truth — for our GOD is a Sovereign GOD
and we are in HIS hands.
– Chapter One –
An Introduction To The Study Of

The Sovereignty of God

THE BIBLICAL TEACHING THAT GOD IS THE KING, SUPREME RULER, AND LAWGIVER
OF THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.

Some Biblical Statements. He “...hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over
all.” (Psa. 103:19). As the “Most High,” God is “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the
demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the
kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” (Dan. 4:17,
25, 34; 5:21; 7:14). Israel’s King David acknowledges “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power,
and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine
is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and
thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give
strength unto all.” (1 Chron. 29:11). This prayerful acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty is echoed in the
traditional conclusion of the Lord’s prayer: “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for
ever.” (Matt. 6:13). God is indeed the “only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Tim. 6:15; cf.
Rev. 19:16). The sovereignty of God thus expresses the very nature of God as all-powerful and omnipotent,
able to accomplish his good pleasure, carry out his decreed will, and keep his promises.
Several divine names express God’s sovereignty. He is called “Most High GOD” (‘elyon, Gen.
14:18-20), “Almighty GOD” (el sadday, 17:1; cf. Exod. 6:2), “LORD (Sovereign) GOD” (adonay yhwh,
Gen. 15:2; Deut. 3:24), and “Lord God Almighty” (kyrios pantokrator, Rev. 1:8). See also the Greek word
(Strong’s #1203) “despota” or “Master” in Luke 2:29; Acts 4:24; 2 Pet. 2:1; Jude 4; and Rev. 6:10.
God’s sovereignty is expressed in the comprehensive plan or decree for world history; He “worketh
all things after the counsel of his own will” (Eph. 1:11). His sovereignty is exercised and displayed in history
in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. The “Sovereign Lord” has “made the heavens and the
earth” and “nothing is too hard” for him (Jer. 32:17-23), indeed, “all things are possible with God” (Mark
10:27; 14:35; Luke 1:37). God also sovereignly upholds and governs the created world in his providence.
He rules the destiny of men and nations (Acts 14:15-17; 17:24-28). Adam’s fall occurred within the context
of his arrangement (Gen. 2:16-17) as did Christ’s crucifixion (Acts 2:23; 4:27-28) and all other events. His
providential rule is all-comprehensive. “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil:
I the LORD do all these things.” (Isa. 45:7; cf. Eph. 1:11).
The gracious work of redemption also manifests God’s sovereignty. He promises, covenants, and works
redemptive history. The Messiah is himself “Mighty God” (Isa. 9:6-7), “the Son of the Most High” whose
“kingdom will never end” (Luke 1:33). From the beginning of his public ministry to its end Jesus’ message
concerns “the kingdom of God” (Mark 1:15; Acts 1:3; totaling more than 100 instances in the four Gospel
accounts). After the resurrection Christ claims “all authority in heaven and earth” (Matt. 28:18), and the
ascended Christ is exalted “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name
that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come” (Eph. 1:19-21; Phil. 2:9-11; 1 Cor.
15:24-28; Rev. 5:9-14). Hence the earliest Christian confession was simply: “Jesus is Lord” (Rom. 10:9).

-1-
The gospel itself displays God’s sovereignty; it is “for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one
that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Rom. 1:16), and “to them which are called” Christ
is “the power of God” (1 Cor. 1:24; cf. Eph. 1:18-22). The authority of Scripture is also an expression of the
sovereignty of God since all Scripture is “God-breathed” (2 Tim. 3:16). That is why “the Scripture cannot
be broken” (John 10:35) and why everything in it will be fulfilled and accomplished (Matt. 5:18; Luke
24:44).
Some Theological Considerations. Theologians generally consider “sovereignty” one of God’s
communicable attributes; “sovereignty” expresses an inherent characteristic of God, and a distinction is
sometimes made between “sovereign will” and “sovereign power.” God’s sovereign will and power are not
arbitrary, despotic, or deterministic; his sovereignty is characterized by his justice and holiness as well as
by his other attributes.
Divine sovereignty and human responsibility are paradoxical and beyond human comprehension, but
not contradictory. Divine sovereignty and human sovereignty are certainly contradictory, but divine
sovereignty and human responsibility are not. God uses human means in history to accomplish his purposes,
yet such means do not involve coercion. God commanded us to live according to his sovereign law (Gen.
2:16-17; Exod. 20; Matt. 22:37-38). Yet God effectuates his will even through sinful, disobedient human
actions (Gen. 45:5, 7-8; 50:19-20). The crucifixion of Jesus Christ, certainly the most heinous crime in
history, occurred within the boundaries of “the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,” for the
crucifiers did what God’s power and will had decided beforehand should happen (Acts 2:23: 4:27-28; cf.
John 19:11).
The doctrine of the sovereignty of God is emphasized especially in the puritan tradition and is denied
or compromised in the Pelagian, Armenian, and liberal traditions (those who hold to “works salvation”),
which claim varying degrees of human autonomy. The confession of the sovereignty of God has become the
hallmark of authentic Christian thought. Actually the term “sovereignty” is found nowhere in the Bible. Yet
the doctrine is indeed part of vital Biblical thought. The key to Christian theology is to speak where the
Scriptures speak and to be silent where they are silent. That is why we should write of God’s sovereignty,
even though this matter includes several controversial doctrines.
A position on GOD’S Sovereignty does not minimize the role of human responsibility in history. Only
in extreme forms of false teaching is sovereignty emphasized in ways that compromise human responsibility
and curtail the universal proclamation of the gospel. The confession of the sovereignty of God should
occasion the praise and glory of God and encourage a life lived in obedient love within the kingdom of the
King. As in the case of all God’s attributes, so God’s sovereignty should be reflected in the Christian’s life.
The Christian who has been renewed in the image of God by redemption through the Free Grace of a
Sovereign GOD should again exercise dominion over creation as God’s servant and officer in promoting
the kingdom of God in human history to the glory of the Sovereign Lord (see Gen. 1:28).

The Singularity of GOD

In more than a few passages, it is said that there is none like HIM who is above all others. HE is in a rank
that includes none else but HE alone. The solitary nature of GOD is a forgotten meditation in the hearts of
the saints of our day. We, so often, are prompted to some other thoughts by the pace of our lives. How we
must needs return to the “SINGULARITY of GOD.”

-2-
The virtue of knowing GOD is not surpassed by any might known to mankind as can be seen at the
reading of Jeremiah 9:23-24. “Thus saith the LORD Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let
the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in
this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment,
and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.” In Hosea 6:3 we are plainly
told that if we are to know we must “...follow on to know the LORD...” We must take the things that we
have learned in the past and apply them to the future life in CHRIST and, as it is said, “follow on to know
the LORD” in our own lives.
“Acquaint now thyself with HIM, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee”
(Job 22:21)
“Who is like unto THEE, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like THEE, glorious in
holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”
(Ex. 15:11)

The Number “One”

The number “ONE” is such that it makes man nervous when it is used in relation to him. “ONE” is an
absolute and the human family has just enough darkness in itself to not appreciate the consequence of
“ONE.”
The number “ONE” is the only number that when multiplied by itself will always be equal to itself. The
mathamatical root of the number “ONE” is “ONE” under any of its exponants (Square, Cube, 4th power,
5th power, etc.) Take this search as far as you wish -there is not a Number that is like the Number “ONE”.
In all languages it is the symbol of unity and primacy. It is very appropriate that the number “ONE” is
used in regards to THE FATHER. Every implication of the number “ONE” can be applied to THE
FATHER:
1)HE is the only “ONE” (Deut.6:4)
2)HE is the first in priority of time (Gen.1:1)
3)HE is the first in superiority of rank (2 Sam.7:22)
4)HE is first in absolute supremacy (Psa. 83:18)

Redemption and salvation began with HIM. His only message to man since the fall has been that of
REDEMPTION:
1)His was the word which first revealed it (Gen.3:15)
2)HIS was the will which first purposed it (Heb.10:7)
3)HIS is the power which alone accomplishes it (Titus 3:5)

Indeed! INDEED!! “Salvation is of the LORD” (Jonah 2:9) [Exod.14:13; 2 Chron.20:17] And so this
brings up the statement of CHRIST (John 10:30) “I and my FATHER are one.” Thus the age old debate:
How much GOD is this man JESUS? (1 Tim.3:16 “...GOD was manifest in the flesh...”) The many voices
of men cry aloud the message of man’s reformation — AND the voice of GOD stands alone to announce
the “Redemption” of man.
I would only ask one question at the end of these things - Why does the preaching of this truth make so
many mad in this day? Do you suppose it is because many desire a god who is more like themselves? The

-3-
peoples of old deified themselves for this same reason. Thus the heathen world was stocked with its own
national, city and personal gods so that men might worship according to their own ways. But GOD calls HIS
worshipers to separate themselves unto HIM. (2 Cor.6:11-18) The natural man simply does not want a
sovereign GOD and will oppose you if you preach HIM to them. OH! Dear reader do not fear and be of good
courage to declare the whole counsel of GOD (Acts 20:27) in the ears of the wicked. Somebody must tell
it, and GOD may call the reader unto this work: “...How shall they hear without a preacher?” (Rom.10:14b)

The Gem Stones Of

The Truth Of GOD

- Opening Remarks -
This line of investigation can be made to display the truths of GOD’S Glory and Sovereignty. The
matters could cover a variety of Gem Stones for the Word of GOD. The KJV has an astonishing total of
1,704 references to gemstones and minerals under 124 Greek and Hebrew names. This abundant use of
precious stones and gems have a clear figurative and poetical connection. The list would include the
Sapphires of Sanctification (1 Cor.1:30); Sacrifice (Phil.4:18) and Service (Heb.9:1). The Sapphire can be
found in a verity of translucent colors especially a deep, pure blue corundum. (Ezek.1:26) There could be
the Jasper stone of Justification and Journeyings (Rom.5:18; 2 Cor.11:26); of Jurisdiction and Judgement
(James 1:21-25; Heb.9:27) and of Jubilee and Joy (Lev.25:9-54). With these the color speaks well. The
Jasper is an opaque (usually red, brown or yellow) variety of quartz. (Ex. 28:20) And also the Crystals so
commonly found in the sandy soil and the hillsides of Earth. These speak of the Crystals of Calvary and
CHRIST (Luke 25:33; Rom.5:6); of Calling and Choice (Acts 15:15:7; Phil.3:14) and of Certainty and
Care (Gal.1:10-12; 1 Peter 5:7). Crystals are said to be colorless, transparent quartz or rock found in almost
every part of the Earth. (Ezek.1:22) These humble three only touch the surface of the depth of the matter of
Gems of Bible Truth. The list can be expanded in many directions.

“And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to
Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.”
(Gen.24:53)

S Emeralds S
The Gem Stones of the Earth are God’s great Gift to those who dig in the Earth. The Gems are found
in the depths of the planet. There may be precious stones found on the other planets; but there will never be
stones so beautiful as the gem stones of Earth.
In general, all minerals and stones that are used for jewelry and other ornamental purposes are called
gems. The word “gem” comes from the Latin Gemma meaning bud. The story of precious stones is much
like that of the blooming of flowers. Like tiny buds which burst into beautiful blossoms, dull lumps of
mineral matter can be cut and polished into brilliantly flashing or beautifully glowing gems. One beautiful
gem, the pearl, is not a stone, but is obtained from a mollusk. Amber, another substance used as a gem, is

-4-
a resin of fossil trees, while coral, which is popular for necklaces, is made by tiny sea animals. then the
unfamiliar gem, jet, is fossilized coal which has an organic origin.
All these are found in some hidden or obscured place. The Truth of GOD’S Word, sometimes lies under
the surface or in the corners or otherwise hidden from view. The servant who will preserver in study may
be blessed with wonderful discoveries; thus the Truth is seen, here, as the Gem Stones of GOD’S Word.
In our text verse (above) We find the story of Eleazer at the home of Rebekah’s family. He has brought
ten camels (Five is the number of Grace in the Bible’s number system and ten is two times five), laden with
Gems and Gifts to give as a promise of his master’s intentions for the young maiden’s hand for her master’s
son. In this world our “Eleazer” (The Holy Ghost) offers more than a little Grace to secure the promises of
GOD the FATHER to the bride of HIS SON. There is a call to a sinner for salvation and there is a call to
the saint for service. But there is an Eleazer Call to the believer toward blessing and security. Thank GOD
for the day HE called me and saved me and thank GOD for the day HE called me to preach. But THANK
GOD for the day HE made it all sure through the Word Of GOD. In HIS treasure our “Eleazer” now brings
forth gifts fit for the bride of HIS MASTER’S SON. Follow along as these gifts are displayed.
I- The Emeralds Of:
A) Election’s Hap S (Ruth 2:3) It was Ruth’s “HAP” to glean in the field of one named Boaz, the lord
of the harvest in those Bethlehem days of barley harvest. The word “hap” refers to the providential
state of the matter. Let us say that there are many things that are not to be explained with the easy
words of everyday thought. These matters are in the unseen hands of the Almighty. To recognize the
providential moving of GOD is to tune the life of the subject to the force beyond nature S To stand
in the lights of GOD’S wisdom in Grace. HE has offered no other way but HIS and the options are
not really there in the sight of HIS election towards us.
B) Effectual Hark S (Psalms 110:3) The call of GOD on a sinner’s heart is an effectual one. By this is
meant that The FATHER of Grace and Mercy would call no other way. The word “effectual” is a
frightening word to the fleshly mind. We are sure that man can resist unto rejection. But; when GOD
puts HIS Gig into the sinner, there is no recourse. HE is there with undeniable persuasion and
irresistible conviction upon the soul of the called. This Call is none other than the EFFECTUAL
summons of the divine and none may dismiss it and remain as before.
C) Eternal Hope S (2 Peter 1:1-4; 1 Peter 1:1-7) There is, of course, no hope without the two workings
of GOD mention above. CHRIST’S working in Grace is seen to advance into realms above, in
Heaven. The Hope of the saints is rest after this land of pain. The picture of the Pilgrim or Sojourner
is true to the figure of the redeemed. The picture of a stranger in this land with a citizenship in an
unseen country is true to the case of the ambassador of CHRIST. The picture of the Spiritual Son of
Faith is true to the case of the New Birth. Eternal Hope is in HIS Name and HE offers this Truth to
the hearts of the redeemed. Heaven is not all; there is an open welcome to the Sons of Faith to A)
come boldly to the thrown of Grace; B) trust HIS body and feed freely; and C) look ahead to the rest
that awaits the children of GOD. There is an identity In A) the love between the saints; B) the place
we find in the fold of the sheep; and C) the mind of CHRIST enjoyed by the saved.

S Pearls S
The Gem Stones of the Truth of GOD are of great value and must needs be mined by the saint that is
happy and fed of GOD’S Word. These Gems are in the sea and on the land S In the mountains and in the

-5-
valleys S In the day and in the night S In the storms or in the sunshiny day. In the case of Spiritual Gems,
we find that they are for all the saved (The whole family were given gifts from the treasure of jewels by the
servant of Abraham. Gen.24:53)
The Pearl is a rare jewel in Bible lore. We find it used only once in the Old Testament (Job 28:18) and
seven times in the New Testament (Matt.7:6; 13:45, 46; 1 Tim.2:9; Rev.17:4) The Bible’s use of the word
is not cryptic or complicated S the mention of this Gem’s name always refers to something of value. To lay
the pearls out to all in the public is not the path of GOD’S working with man (Matt.7:6 “Give not that which
is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and
turn again and rend you.”) We are given this jewel A) as a token of GOD’S Divine pleasure in the saints,
B) as a token of HIS purpose toward the saint’s welfare and C) as the emblem of HIS power in the service
of the saints.
The pearls of GOD’S gifts include many things but as it is with the natural pearl hidden in the shell of
the oyster, so it is with this pearl hidden the heart of the believer. (1 Tim 2:8-9 “I will therefore that men pray
every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, that women adorn
themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls,
or costly array;” [The true pearl or value is within the heart]) The LORD even uses the picture of “the pearl
of great price” as the metaphor of the unseen treasure of the sinner hidden from view in the field of the
world. (Mat 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.”) With these
truths before us let us now observe the pearl displayed.

II- The Pearls of:

A) Prayer Emboldened (Heb 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”) The boldness by which the saint is instructed
to come before GOD is no less that the boldness of CHRIST to reach into a sinner’s heart and bring
conviction and conversion S the gift of bold access is proof of the kinship we now shear with the
SON. Armed only with redemption’s promises we may -indeed are expected to- go to The
FATHER’S Feet for the needs of the soul-sore and weak.
B) Power Embraced (Eph.3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that
we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”) [“ABLE” The Greek Word For Power:
“DUN-A-MIA”] This is the word used for power, ability, might, etc. This word is an important one
because of its much use in the N.T. It will appear many times in your reading. The word may be seen
as power or ability by 5 different descriptions (The examples are noted with underlining): 1) By
virtue of one’s own ability (Luke 3:8 “...that GOD is ABLE of these stones to raise up children...”)
2) By the use of one’s resources. (Acts 24:13 “Neither can they prove the things whereof they now
accuse me.”) 3) By the state of one’s mind (Rom 15:14 “And I myself also am persuaded of you, my
brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one
another.”) 4) By favorable circumstances. (1 Thes. 2:6 “Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you,
nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.”) 5) By
permission of law or custom. (1 John 3:9 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his
seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”)
C) Perseverance Employed (1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you...that ye may KNOW
that ye have eternal life...” GOD wants every redeemed soul to know that he has “passed from death

-6-
unto life.” Those who have been under Bible preaching for any extended time will soon come to this
issue in regards to their salvation. Do the saved get lost again after they are saved? Is the redemption
of CHRIST Blood Stained Cross good enough to save and then keep you saved? Is there any way
to restore yourself if you do get lost after you are saved? All of these questions may not get an
answer in this pamphlet but there is the beginning of an answer here and I hope to lead my readers
to that answer and let you come to your own conclusion concerning this vital subject. This work of
redemption is an eternal proposition. (see Heb.9:12) The Christian is in the best of all positions to
have knowledge of his own lot. (John 10:26-30 “But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep,
as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto
them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My
Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s
hand. I and my Father are one.”
The extension of GOD’S power into the life of the believer includes the joy of keeping-power.
There can be no greater condition for the saint than to know that you know that you know that you
know that you are saved. It remains to be seen fully what it means to be saved but the truth is clear
that the saved have a far reaching joy that the unsaved can never taste until redeemed. The archaic
word for “assurance” was “perseverance” and even though this word includes some other Spiritual
matters, perseverance includes the expression of the staying and keeping power employed by the
redeemed. Assurance is this expression personified. In the case of perseverance it is seen that the
observer is aware but assurance is in the eyes of the possessor and the gift of assurance can be
employed by the entire family of GOD. OH! The truth of this joy is even on our lips. Even so let it
be.

S Diamonds S
The DIAMOND is the precious stone used in jewelry and engraving. It is the hardest mineral known,
said to be formed of pure carbon crystals. Two Hebrew words stand behind English, “diamond.” Yahelom
is a stone on the high priest’s breastplate (Ex. 28:18) and among the jewels of the king of Tyre (Ezek. 28:13).
Shamir is the stone used on the point of an engraving tool to cut into stone surfaces (Jer. 17:1). The term
also appears in Ezekiel 3:9; Zechariah 7:12 as the hardest stone known.
In the commentaries there is some doubt that these references are “diamonds” and some other stones are
offered. The doubters are free to suppose as they wish but I am a preacher and I have the Bible to deal with
that must be upheld (Psa. 12:6-7 It is a safe assumption that the Bible is correctly translated in the AV - to
offer any other interpretation would be perilous “..neither shall ye diminish ought from it...” Deut.4:2) The
Diamond is the symbol of power, fearlessness, and hardness. The truth of this figurative picture is that of
soundness in several ways.
There can be several meanings for the word “doctrine.” Webster says doctrine is: “...A branch of
knowledge or system of belief...” This is fine; but you may have “false Doctrine” or “bad doctrine” or many
other variations upon the theme. The best that can be said is that “doctrine” is something taught. We must
be taught “DOCTRINE.” OH!! For Want Of Soundness... (Titus chapter 2)
Sound Speech is called for in Titus 2:8: that can not be condemned, and that produces a sound mind (2
Tim.1:7) Then there is Sound Faith called for in Titus 2:2: the object of sharp rebuke (Titus 1:13), a lesson
from the aged men to us. But Sound Doctrine is the prerequisite of all “Soundness” in Titus 2:1: tied to

-7-
sound words (2 Tim.1:13), there is a conflict (1 Tim.1:10) but it is the master tool of exhortation (Titus 1:9)
(See Titus 2:1 “...speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:”) Surely Paul was not saying to speak
things that would be doctrine-but to speak things that would compliment “sound doctrine.” The Greek word
is PREPO=Strong’s #4241 is used here for “become.”
III- The Diamonds of Soundness in the:
A) Dayspring of GOD’S Mercy S (“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our GOD is merciful.”
(Psa. 116:5) GOD is full of mercy. HIS mercy is “great” in 1 Kings 3:6, “plenteous” in Psa. 86:5,
“tender” in Luke 1:78, “abundant” in 1 Peter 1:3 and “everlasting” in Psa. 103:17. The Psalmist has
said: “I will sing aloud of thy mercy.” (Psa. 59:16) HIS Mercy is bound up in HIS Sovereignty and
can not be questioned by the empty race of man nor the pure race of angles and there is no desire of
doubt in the saint, for the saint is an object of divine mercy. (Ex. 33:19) Why Does GOD Show
Mercy To Mankind? (Rom.9:15) Mercy is not because of Mans “misery” S Mankind IS miserable.
If misery is the key -why not save the whole race!! (Isa.27:11) Mercy is not because of “merit” S In
other words, we can see that mercy is not for the merit of mankind (Titus 3:5) Nor, is mercy even
for the merit of CHRIST (Luke 1:78)- Mercy is shown to mankind solely from GOD’S IMPERIAL
PLEASURE. (2 Cor. 1:3)
B) Doctrines of Grace S GOD’S forgiving mercy, as gratuitous (a gift) and opposed to merit. (Rom.6:6;
Eph.2:5; Col.1:6) The gospel generally, as opposed to law. (John 1:17; Rom.6:14; 1 Peter 5:12)
Certain gifts of GOD, freely bestowed. (Rom.15:15; 1 Cor.15:10; Eph.3:8) Besides the meanings
given above there are other significant statements that can be rendered in behalf of the meaning of
GRACE: 1)Spiritual edification of others is called GRACE; It displays the favor of GOD, and
conveys his gracious influences to men (Eph.4:29). 2) Speech is, with Grace, seasoned with salt,
when it is concerning the favor or truths of GOD, and tends to promote the edification and holiness
of such as hear it (Col.4:6). 3)To be called to the Grace of CHRIST is to have HIS gospel published
to us; and to be invited to the enjoyment of the fullness of GOD (Gal.1:6). No doubt, the measure
of GRACE is, as the song writer said “Amazing Grace...”
Then we must include DEPRAVITY — In theology this term denotes corruption, a change from
perfection to imperfection, the sinfulness of man’s nature. This term is modified in the study of
theology with the special word “TOTAL”. The race of mankind is in the state of “TOTAL
DEPRAVITY” and the term opens a clear view of the race. (Rom.7:18) This total depravation is
clearly stated in the book of Gal.5:17-21, as we see the blessed writer under inspiration declare “...the
works of the flesh are manifest; which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, sedition, heresies, envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings and such like.” (There are 18 overt works of the flesh but only nine fruits
of the SPIRIT -stated here only as a contrast) This tells the painful truth of the nature of the “Carnal
mind” which renders all subjects of the race at “...enmity against GOD,...” (Rom.8:7) No reader will
be able to debate this destitute condition of mankind. Under this theme lesser matters are explained:
Man’s impotency (Rom.3:10-18) and Man’s inability (The slave of sin: “...sold under sin...”
Rom.7:14; “...in the bonds of iniquity...” Acts 8:23). This is a terribly sad picture, but true to the
Bible description of man’s Spiritual condition. (See Psa. 58:3 “The wicked are estranged from the
womb; they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.” Gen.8:21 “The imagination of man’s
heart is evil from his youth.”)
And also imputed RIGHTEOUSNESS- GOD’S HOLY DEMAND. (Rom.5:19; 2 Cor.5:21)

-8-
These verses teach the imputation of Adam’s guilt to the race (“...by one man’s disobedience...”),
the imputation of our guilt to CHRIST (“...hath made him to be sin for us...”) and the imputation of
HIS (CHRIST’S) Righteousness to fallen mankind through regeneration (“...that we might be made
the righteousness of GOD in him.”). (Rom.3:17-25) Self righteousness is ugly in the sight of all who
observe it (Rom.10:3), HIS Righteousness can only be claimed under the Grace of GOD (1
Cor.1:30), but, GOD tells of the time when the fine linen is the Righteousness of the saints
(Rev.19:8).
C) Decrees of Divinity (Acts 15:18) THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD- This term is a fright to many
because it states an absolute that is in sharp contrast to the condition of man. The worship employed
by the race is man-centered and to even state this declaration is a matter that causes the boldest
teacher to stutter and I will only touch the “hem of the garment” for this term. GOD is Sovereign in
the matter of: Faith (Gal.2:16; 20); Conviction (Rom.9:18); Regeneration (Jonah 2:9); and Grace (2
Tim.1:8-10). Over against the truths of the “Sovereignty of GOD” there is the, so called, “Free Will”
of man — Both of these concepts have been dreadfully mis-used by false teachers. The saint is to
take heart that GOD has sovereignty over the affairs of man and eternity. The abounding Grace of
GOD has so constituted man that he can avail himself of this salvation by doing what a sovereign
GOD of love has made possible for him to do - “Believe the Gospel...” (Acts.15:11 “But we believe
that through the grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they.”)

S Rubies S
Gem Stones display an interesting function. These stones serve to filter the light as it passes through
them. Webster says that a Prism is: “...a transparent body bounded in part by two plane faces that are not
parallel used to deviate or disperse a beam of light...” Many gem stones seeming to have an internal light
only display the light caught from the outside in a very special way. The colors of the spectrum of visible
light are (simply) from the longest wave to the shortest: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet, with
all other colors falling in these general classes. As the classes of light waves shorten, they also widen. As
light waves lengthen they thin down. Red is a long, narrow line of light. Orange is shorter and wider, yellow
even shorter and wider, and so the rest of the spectrum shortens and fattens until violet is (seemingly) larger
and greater than the others. Looking closer, violet’s wide spread soon thins and fades into gray. Red,
however, gleams a true bright red through the gray on into the black of infinity.
The Pure Red Light of GOD’S Truth is only seen as it passes through the prism of man’s mind. If the
RED is seen as the Truth of GOD then the other colors speak to us also. Could it be that Orange speaks of
Denominationalism, Yellow represents False Teachers, Green stands for Infidelity and Blue is Agnosticism.
If these be held then the ray of light that is Violet may indicate Atheism. The Ruby is the RED Gem Stone.
The Bible records six uses of the word “RUBY” (Job 28:18 “No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls:
for the price of wisdom is above rubies.” S Prov 3:15 “She is more precious than rubies: and all the things
thou canest desire are not to be compared unto her.” S Prov 8:11 “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all
the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. S Prov 20:15 “There is gold, and a multitude of
rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.” S Prov.31:10 “Who can find a virtuous woman? for
her price is far above rubies.” S Lam 4:7 “Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk,
they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:”) In each of the six cases it is
employed to speak of the beauty of or the high value of the object. We might see Rubies in many things but

-9-
the highest are:

IV- The Rubies of:

A) Redemption S 1-A deliverance from temporal dangers and enemies. (Ex. 3:10; 1 Sam.14:45) 2-
Deliverance from a state of sin and misery, into a state of union with CHRIST, in which we are
justified by HIS Blood, adopted into his family, sanctified by HIS SPIRIT, and comforted by HIS
presence; -a deliverance from spiritual danger and distress, to a comfortable and quiet condition.
(Rom.1:16) 3-Eternal happiness, in which men shall be freed from sin and sorrow, and shall enjoy
the most perfect and lasting fellowship with GOD. (1 Peter 1:9; Heb.1:14)
B) Repentance S Holy Ghost CONVICTION leads to true repentance. We can find: I-False repentance
(Jer.15:6); then II-Lost repentance (Heb.12:17); but there is III-True repentance S It is: 1-the
message of John-the last Old Testament prophet (Matt.3:2) 2-the message of JESUS the master
teacher (Mark 1:15) 3-the message of the twelve (Mark 6:12) 4-the message of the Apostolic Church
(Acts 17:30) Holy Ghost CONVICTION is essential to conversion (Luke 13:3,5 “I tell you, Nay: but
except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish.”)
C) Royalty S The mystery of Kinship to the King is a great mystery. The Bible states it thus in John
1:12: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them
that believe on his name:” The Word says that the redeemed are “Whereby are given unto us
exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Pet 1:4) The question is: “Are you
in this relationship with HIM?!!”

– Chapter Two –
The Person Of Sovereignty
Specters Of Sovereignty
The Attributes of GOD and HIS Sovereignty
“Acquaint now thyself with HIM, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee”
(Job 22:21)

The Goodness Of GOD

“HE loveth righteousness ‘and judgement: the earth is full of the goodness of GOD.”
(Psalms 33:5)
“...despisest thou the riches of HIS goodness ... not knowing that the goodness of GOD leadeth thee to
repentance?” (Rom. 2:4)

For some long time I have hoped to start the study of the nature of GOD or at least to get an opportunity
to put on paper, those words as could be used to state the joy of knowing HIM who is “altogether lovely”.
These words are difficult only in that the vernacular of the human can hardly speak the notes of the
supernatural in the manner needed to pass this information to another. In this first attempt at the goal, let us
look at HIM through eyes focused on the mark and pray that GOD HIMSELF will direct our ways. HE is
the possessor of infinite “power” of which we must avail ourselves or our service toward HIM is vain and

-10-
useless. HE is full of “wisdom” and HIS ways are past finding out. However it is HIS “goodness” that we
must see in the next pages if we hope to see HIM in the cloud and the whirlwind or in the mysteries of the
mind of CHRIST. It is HIS “goodness” that will WED the Church to the GROOM -it is HIS “goodness” that
wakes the sleeping church member to pray for the world for whom HIS SON died -but; the fruit is in the fact
that it is HIS “goodness” that will WOE the sinner to the cross where HE will find room for him though
millions have come.
HIS GOODNESS -HIS GOODNESS!!! Who but HOLY GOD would have put it so simply? (Isa.35:8
“...the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not ere therein. “) This way has been confused by many and many
have erred but this is not the wish of this benefactor of Grace. HIS way -is plain and well marked as was the
roads to the cities of refuge and open guidance precedes the way as in the wilderness. (Isa.35:8) Why would
any ere in the way if HE stretches forth HIS hand take it into the joys of redemption.
“The Half Has Not Yet Been Told”
(2 Chron.9:6)

I. The bag of HIS power has not yet been told (Nahum 1:3-6)
A)ln HIS Severity (HIS Wrath - Greatness)
B)ln HIS Sovereignty (HIS Will - Grace)
C)ln HIS Salvation (HIS Word - Goodness)

II- The half of HIS Wisdom has not yet been told, as Compared:
A)to the Foolishness of the world (1 Cor. 1: 20-2 1)
B)to the Proclamation of the Word (1 Cor. 1:26-29)
C)to the Redemption of the willing (1 Cor. 1: 30-31)
However it is not the might of GOD that saves sinners and not HIS wisdom that redeems - but HIS GOODNESS

that leadeth thee to repentance -.GLORY TO HIS NAME!!

III- The half of HIS Goodness has not yet been told (Rom. 2:4 “...the goodness of GOD leadeth thee to repentance...”)

GOODNESS:
A) HIS Goodness seen brings GODLY Sorrow (2 Cor.7:9-10)
B) HIS Goodness seen brings the gift of repentance (2 Tim.2:25)
C) HIS Goodness seen brings rejoicing (Luke 15:7; 10)
THE GOODNESS OF GOD
As Seen In Creation (Gen. 1: 3)
It was C. H. Spurgeon that said: “...whatever else may be questioned, this is absolutely certain, that
JEHOVAH is good; HIS dispensations may vary but HIS nature is always the same.” These words from the
prince of preachers are on target. We can expect that, even in creation, HE is GOOD. Some would look for
HIS goodness only in religion or in theology, however HIS goodness is a reality in the sight of those who
wish to look upon HIS Glory.
I- The goodness of GOD seen in Man -GOD’S highest creation (Psa. 139:14)
II- The goodness of GOD seen in the creatures (Psa. 145:15-16)
III- The goodness of GOD seen in natural pleasures (Psa. 145:9)
A) The whole earth (Psa. 33:5)

-11-
B) The things that are in the earth (1 Tim.4:4)
C) GOD’S goodness is impartial (Matt.5:45; Luke 6:35)

THE GOODNESS OF GOD

As Seen In The Simple Joys of the Christian Life “For ye are not come unto the mount that might be
touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a
trumpet, and the voice words; which voice they that heard entreated that the word should not be spoken to
them any more: (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the
mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I
exceedingly fear and quake:) But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the
heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the
firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made
perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better
things than that of Abel. “ (Heb. 12:22-24)

Why Would Anyone Stray From The

GOODNESS Of GOD?
I-False Instructions (Proverbs 19:27)
II-False Leaders (Isa.3:12; 9:16)

THE MERCY OF GOD

“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our GOD is merciful.” (Psa. 1 16:5) “O give thanks unto the
LORD: for HE is good, for HIS mercy endureth forever. “ (Psa. 136: 1)

GOD is full of mercy. HIS mercy is “great” in 1 Kings 3:6, “plenteous” in Psa. 86:5, “tender” in Luke
1:78, “abundant” in 1 Peter 1:3 and “everlasting” in Psa. 103:17. The Psalmist has said: “I will sing aloud
of thy mercy.” (Psa. 59:16) HIS Mercy is bound up in HIS Sovereignty and can not be questioned by the
empty race of man nor the pure race of angles and there is no desire of doubt in the saint, for the saint is an
object of divine mercy. (Ex. 33:19)

Why Does GOD Show Mercy To Mamkind?

(Rom.9:15)
I- Mercy is not because of Mans “misery’
A-Mankind IS miserable
B-If misery is the key -why not save the whole race!! (Isa.27: 11)
II- Mercy is not because of “merit’
A-Not the merit of mankind (Titus 3:5)
B-Not even the merit of CHRIST (Luke 1:78)
III- Mercy is shown to mankind solely from GOD’S IMPERIAL PLEASURE (11 Cor 1:3)
THE MERCY OF THE LORD
(Lam. 3:22; Rom. 12: 1; Zac. 7:9)
I- MERCY from the prime source- GOD
A)Great MERCY (Isa. 54:7) “...but with great mercy will I gather thee.”
B) Abundant MERCY (1 Peter 1:3) “...according to HIS abundant mercy hath HE begotten us.”
C) Eternal MERCY (Psa. 77:8) “Is HIS mercy clear gone forever?”

II- MERCY Bought with blood

A) To deliver from danger (Exod. 12:13) “...and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. “
B) To make Atonement betwixt GOD and man (Lev.4:20) “...and the priest shall make an atonement for
them....”
C) To purify persons from ceremonial pollutions (Lev. 14:6-7) “...dip them ... in the blood...”
D) To ratify and confirm the Testament or Covenant of GOD (Exod. 24:8) “...behold the blood of the
covenant... “

III- MERCY-not-JUSTICE (JUSTICE CALLS FOR ACTION)

-13-
A) Guilty as charged (Rom. 3:23) “For all have sinned...”
B) Hell bound if guilty (Rev.21:7-8) “...shall have their part in the lake... “
C) Hell is eternal (Rev. 14:11) “And the smoke of their torments ascended up for ever and ever:”
D) Hell is sure (Heb. 10:29) “Of how much sorer punishment...” MERCY CALLS FOR
FORGIVENESS
1) GRACE comes by JESUS (John 1: 17) [law brings JUSTICE yet no man is justified of the law
see Gal. 3:11, 24; 5:4] Gal.2:16-17 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law,
but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified
by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh
be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners,
is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.”
2) Too much sin??--GRACE can abound above the greatest sin (Rom.5:20)
3) GRACE is the ONLY means of salvation (Titus 2:11) “For the grace of God that bringeth
salvation hath appeared to all men...”

THE MERCY OF GOD

The “Mercy” of our GOD is of value only in that it is extended as HE wishes within HIS Sovereign Will.
The will of man is so fickle that human’s will is misleading. The will of GOD is beyond reproach and
outside our influence. (Rom.9:15 “...I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy.”) Below we have the
outline of some who will not enjoy the mercy of GOD:
I- The Guilty (Ex. 34:7) (Luke 13:3)
II- The Wicked (Psa. 9:17) (Deut.29:18-20)
III- The Presumptuous (Rom.3:8) (Psa. 2:12)

The KINDNESS of GOD

“... kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” (Luke 6:35)
GOD is kind -without controversy, HE is so KIND!!! With many sorts of Kindness HE deals with us in
our relationships with HIM. In the relationship found in churches, the most open and vocal of all our
relationships with HIM, we see HIS Kindness in the way of HIS visitation among us in the services of
worship, evangelism and prayer. (CHRIST is seen as HE “...walketh in the midest of the seven golden
candlesticks...” Rev. 2: 1 - See Rev. 1: 20 -The vision seen by the Apostle is explained as we see that the
“...seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.”) In the relationship of the family, the most
devoted and essential of 0 relationships that men have with JEHOVAH, we can clearly see HIS Kindness
as HE generates love in all aspects of the Christian family life for the perpetuation of this first of all GOD
ordained institutions. (Eph.5:25 “Husbands, love your wives even as CHRIST also loved the church, and
gave himself for it.”) But; in the private relationship, the most powerful of all relationships, the Kindness
of GOD is shown in abundant terms as HE gives power in prayer and testimony of the grace of redemption
to the meekest of us through this blessed spiritual fellowship. (Matt. 16:19; 18:18 “...whatsoever thou shalt
bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”)
GODLY Kindness is connected directly to GODLY Compassions through HIS Love. As HE loves the
lost world unto HIMSELF with the kindnesses only HE could express. GODLY Kindness is connected to
GODLY Joy through HIS Justice. In the sight of this perverted world condition there is no creature that is

-14-
excepted from the injustice of all human conditions. There is no personality in the universe that offers the
element of “Justice” to a lost race. This GODLY Kindness comes in like a flood to exhibit justice to all the
race; therefore, prompting Joy in worship. GODLY Kindness is connected directly to GODLY Truth through
HIS Holiness; thus HIS Truth is always Kind. HIS Kindness can fall into question -through Spiritual
blindness; HIS Truth may foolishly be placed in doubt by the dishonest student; but no reader could ever
fail to declare HIS Holiness. This list could go much further but the reader will readily see that “Kindness”
is a basic element of the existence of GOD’S person.
The Bible speaks of “great” kindness in Neh.9:17; “marvelous” kindness in Psa. 31:21; “merciful”
kindness in Psa. 117:2, 119:76; a “law” of kindness in Prov.31:26 and everlasting kindness in Isa.54:8, 10.
If kindness is an attribute of GOD, it will be true in the persons of the Trinity. An interesting method to
reveal these truths is found in the “types” and “shadows” of the characters of the. Old Testament. GODLY
Kindness (as the FATHER is concerned) is seen in the life of Joseph (Gen.50:21). Moses (as a type of
CHRIST) shows us a picture of GODLY Kindness in the episode with the seven daughters of the priest of
Midian (Ex. 2:17). 1) The un-named “Good Samaritan (Luke 10:34), 2) the un-named Philippian jailer (Acts
16:33) and 3) the un-named Barbarians (Acts 27:42) all teach the expression of GODLY Kindness (The
HOLY SPIRIT is always pictured as “un-named”). However; there are three stories that speak in strong
terms of this Truth of the Kindness of our GOD:
I- The FATHER’S Kindness is seen in David’s kindness for Jonathan’s sake (2 Sam. 9:1)
A-Kindness shown in the face of the wicked lives of sinners (Tit.3:3-4)

II- The SAVIOUR’S Kindness is seen in the story of Boaz as he shows kindness to Ruth (Ruth 2:20)
A-Kindness is the riches of CHRIST’S Grace toward the race (Eph.2:7)

III- The PARACLEAT’S Kindness is seen in the story of Abimelech and Abraham (Gen.21:23)
A-The sort of kindness practiced by the HOLY SPIRIT is only The KINDNESS of GOD and GOD is
“...kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” (Luke 6:35)

The KINDNESS of our GOD is at once powerful and sweet. The power of this efficacy is only surpassed
by the sweetness of this GODLY KINDNESS. HIS KINDNESS transcends all the harshness in this bitter
world. How the &-tint needs to meet with the KINDNESS of GOD in this cold world -KINDNESS!!! -only
GOD would be able to, consistently meet the deep bitterness of earth with a Heavenly, caring expression on
the magnitude of GODLY KINDNESS.

THE KINDNESS OF GOD

Seen In GOD’S Care for you in:
I- Individual Care (HE cares even for one sparrow) (Matt. 10:29a)
II- Intimate Care (HE will be there ... ) (Matt. 10:29b)
III- Intelligent Care (HE causes HIS people to care for the soul more than the body) (Matt. 10:28)
IV- Inductive Care (HE causes HIS people to confess HIM before men) (Matt. 10: 32)
V- Imperative Care (HE causes HIS people to be true to HIM) (Matt. 10:34-37)
VI- Instructive Care (HE causes HIS people to prove the cross and its power) (Matt. 10: 38)
VII- Imposing Care (HE causes all losses to be sure gains) (Matt. 10: 39)

-15-
THE KINDNESS OF GOD
As Seen In HIS Closeness
(Heb. 13:5) (Josh. 1:5; 1 Chron.28:20)
The Kindness of GOD is seen once more in the “CLOSENESS” of GOD. This is a well proven point.
The Scripture is our treasure trove for this element of HIS great Kindness. The SON has said: “Search the
scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are they which testify of me.” (John 5:39) And
by this passage we can depend on the truth that the Bible is the only reliable record of the needs and
provisions of GOD.
We can hear the Gospel in nature around us; but if we read the Gospel in nature only we will become
“naturalists” and thus have only a partial message. It is true that the nature of man preaches the truth; but
the nature of man will never tell of man’s inability to restore himself from the fallen nature. If we study the
man’s nature only, with the Bible, we will become “humanists” and be damned without the grace of GOD
to save. Religion has an element of truth; but religion does not know what man’s crying need is. Religion
has an attractive appeal to the masses of those in the “trap” of dogma. Only the Bible is a sure record of this
and any other aspect of GOD. How CLOSE is our GOD?

I- Close enough to feel every factor of our life’s travail (Heb.4: 15) “For we have not an high priest which cannot
be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” IN
KINDNESS HE CARES ABOUT OUR TROUBLE...
II- Close enough to he with the believer alway (Matt.28:20) “Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, Io, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Amen.” IN KINDNESS HE IS CLOSE IN A WAY THAT GIVES CONFIDENCE...
III- Close enough that HE can return for the follower in that day (John 14:3) “And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
IN KINDNESS HIS CARING CLOSENESS IS A GRAND COMFORT... (1 Thes. 4:18 “Wherefore
comfort one another with these words.”)

THE KINDNESS OF GOD

As Seen In HIS Comfort
“Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.” (Psa.
119:76) (2 Cor. 1: 3)

“...THY rod and THY staff they comfort

me.” (Psa. 23:4)
In the terms of the shepherd we are told about the source of “comfort” in this verse. “THY rod....” speaks
of comfort in time of attack and “THY staff” speaks of comfort in time of instruction. These two instruments
cover the full gambit of need for comfort from the hand of GOD. We are instructed in the way of comfort
in the oldest book of the cannon (Job 15:11). The most beautiful Book encourages the saint in the matters

-16-
of comfort (Psa. 86:17; 119:76). The heart of prophecy describes comfort. (Isa. 12:1; 40:1-2; 51:12; 52:9;
66:13) (a mother’s comfort is seen in Isa.49:15; a father’s comfort Psa. 103:13) Then it may be seen that the
Church’s writer, Paul mentions Comfort with tender terms. (Rom. 15:5; 2 Cor. 1:3; 1:4; 7:6)
Like the wonder of the warmth of Sunshine on a cold winter day is this Comfort for the tempted saint.
(Song of Sol.7:10; Luke 22:31) Like a blanket to a cold child is GOD’S Comfort for saints who sin (1 John
1:8; Psa. 1 19:94, 146; 1 John 2:1). Like the hand of a friend is the Comfort of our LORD amid life’s
changes (Psa. 55:19; Mal.3:6) - Like the lilting voice of a loved one in a lonely night is The MASTER’S
Comfort when GOD has seemed absent (Isa.45:15; Mark 7:24) or after the shattering of a broken heart (Psa.
69:20; Isa. 61:1; Psa. 147:3) When it seems that the load of personal need is left to be carried alone it is HIS
irresistible Comfort in life’s separations (Ex. 3:12; Matt.28:20; Heb. 13:5). When resources are gone there
is Comfort for those who have lost hope (Psa. 42:5, 11; 43:5; 1 Thes. 1:3; 1 Cor. 13:7). In all of the day’s
care there is Comfort as we face life’s sorrows (Ex. 3:7; Psa. 127:2 [see 1 Tim.6: 10]; Isa.53:3-4; Rev.21:4).
When the pain of illness is ever constant there is Comfort in times of sickness (Psa. 41:3; John 11:3; Psa.
43:5; Rev.21:4) - and if that pain takes us to the door of death there is Comfort as we reach the valley of its
shadow (Job 10:20; John 11:4, 35). As the clouds gather there is Comfort as the signs of great tribulation
appear (Luke 21:7,19; 21:28; 1 Thes.5:9) - and these days may be dark but there is Comfort for the last days
(Luke 21:28; 1 Thes.4:16, 18; Titus 2:13).
We live in a day when the race of mankind seeks comfort at the level never before seen. Most are not
going to suffer much. We must have the comforts of our choice -TV (with hundreds of channels), air
conditioning (set to the desired degree), recreation of all sorts and types (in places easy to get to with lavish
appointments to sooth his tensions)...and on-and-on we could go with modern man’s mad, sick race to
comfort himself. However; with all this, our day is a totally unhappy and “uncomfortable” period. When the
need is in the soul mankind treats the flesh with massive doses of cultural anesthetic that can only give a
false comfort.
Do you want a bed of rose petals -all roses have thorns. Is it a feathery bed of ease for you -the eaglet
has this kind of bed but his nest is soon stirred. No doubt, Eglon, the king of Moab, had provided himself
pillows of ease in his “summer parlor”; but Ehud (Oh! what a messenger he was) soon came to call for his
answer to the evil ways he had perpetrated toward Israel. Judges 3:15-23)
Or; Will you be like The Shepherd King; David, who preferred the temporal comforts of the palace
instead of the “merciful kindness” of Jehovah in the battlefield. (2 Sam. 11:1 “...at the time when kings go
forth to battle...”) His action to comfort himself with soft things brought a worse battle to his soul and the
war was lost as the king fell into sin with another man’s wife. The LORD’S COMFORT is:
I- Alleviation to the complicated (causing all confusions to quite) (Isa.40:31)
II- Relief to the burdened (offering aid) (Psa. 146:9)
III- Consolation to the grieved (calming the broken hearted) (Psa. 86:17)
IV- Solace to the suffering (with the succor of a friend) (Heb.2:18)
V- Moderating to the over stressed and bowed down (with the restful pause that lightens the load) (Ezra 9:8)
Vl- Soothing to those in despair (making all task preformed, for Him, easy) (Psa. 25:12-14)
OH! Dear reader, will you seek only the comforts of HIS hand to fill your soul with HIS
“lovingkindness” (Jer.9:24 “But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me,
that I am the LORD which exercises lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth, for in these
things I delight, saith the LORD”). These comforts, of HIS “merciful kindness” can never be exceeded in
all of life’s ebb and flow. HIS Kindness is always the comfort that will supply our need.

-17-
“Thou shewest lovingkindness unto
thousands...”
The SILENCE of GOD
“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. “
(1 Kings 19:12)
The silence Of GOD is a rarely known attribute but stands with the rest as one of the elements of GOD’S
person. The “...still small voice” is nevertheless the voice of GOD. This attribute adds mystery to HIS might
and offers a view of HIM that is not on display with other paths of study. As we deal with the Silence of IRS
Sovereignty, let us not over look the Silence of the SON in that HE combines Himself with the Godhead
through the Cross and its deep truth. And the Silence of the HOLY GHOST seen in HIS wooing of sinners
from eternal death to the gift of eternal life. All the moving emotional voices of human preachers can not
exceed the voice that quietly calls from the Old Rugged Tree.

THE SILENCE Of GOD

Seen in HIS Leadership of the Saints THE WILL OF GOD FOR YOU (James 4:13-15)
The steps of a GOOD MAN are of importance to the Master and in silence HE orders his path. (Psa.
37:33) Somehow, HE has caused all who continue out of HIS will to be uncomfortable and uneasy; therefore
drawing all back to HIS ordered path with silent direction. Then the second return is totally within HIS silent
leadership. (Acts 1:6-7) This is so true that there is no evidence of HIS coming except the signs of the times.
This second advent will be a secret or private matter between the LORD and HIS people. The salvation of
the LOST is an intimate matter of the most private nature and is declared to be the will of GOD yet in HIS
Silence HE woes the sinner through the Gospel’s challenge, the Grand Coming and the Gracious Call (11
Peter 3:9) Time runs out (John 9:4) “...the night comes when no man can work.” --So the offer of HIS
Redemption is more keen in the last days than in the former. No better time than presently (2 Cor. 6:2)
“...now is the accepted time...” --And it is proven to each sinner who comes to the silent, vital call. Only one
way – (Heb.2:3) “...how shall we escape...” – In this the ultimatum stands as the only solution for a fallen
race. (Some of the very many passages that teach the will of GOD: Mark 3:35; Acts 13:36; Rom.1:10;
Rom.8:27; Rom.12:2; Rom.15:32; 11 Cor.1:1; 2 Cor.1:1; 2 Cor.8:5; Gal.1:4; Eph.1:1; 6:6; Col.1:1; 4:12;
1 Thes. 5:18; 2 Tim. 1:1; Heb. 10: 36; 1 Peter 2:15; 3:17; 4:2; 4:19; 1 John 2:17)

THE WILL of GOD

1-The perfect will of GOD (Rom. 12:1-2)
A-It is the “Elusive Enigma of the Ages”:
1-It took Moses 40 years behind Mt.Horab
2-ft was delivered by the man of GOD to the house of Jesse
3-Could not be found at all by the King (Saul)--He consulted a witch at Endor
B-Prayer is the answer
1-Prayer secures it
2-Prayer assures it

-18-
3-Prayer accomplishes it
C-The will of GOD can be found in the CHRIST – the MONARCH of the universe – if you truly want
to know it:
1-John 7:17
2-There must be a resignation to the will of GOD:
a)Job (Job 13:15)
b)Jesus said “...not my will but thine...”
c)Paul’s last words (11 Tim.4:6)
II-The Permissive will of GOD - Disobedience is sin (Heb. 10:26-29)
III-The reviled will of GOD (see the Bible passages in the paragraph above on the will of GOD)
IV-The secret will of GOD (Deut.29:29)

THE SILENCE Of GOD

Seen in HIS Love towards the Saints (2 Cor. 13:11)

HE loves with an un-accusing love that seeks only our best interest. This love is, an unselfish love in that
HE expects so very little in return. As mankind wants constantly; GOD gives to meet mans desire and as the
loving FATHER this is HIS joy to do so. The saints enjoy a Divine love that is exceptional and totally
unique to that relationship. As the New Testament writers record, GOD is Spirit (see John 4:24) and HE is
called “The HOLY SPIRIT” --HE renders light to this blinded, lost world (see John 1:4 with 1 John 1:5) and
HE is declared to be “THE LIGHT of men. “The Life He gives is unique in its character (see John 5:26)
therefore HE is “...the way, the truth and the LIFE...” (John 14:6) But; without a doubt it is HIS “LOVE”
that is most wonderful in our sight. And to go a step further, it can be seen that this “LOVE” is silent before
our eyes.
I- Even though man is utterly guilty; GOD places the words of indictment in the mouth of a preacher. (A
silent witness of HIS un-accusing love is seen in the way HE takes away guilt by Grace - See John 8:1-
11 “...Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”)
II- Even though HE could rightfully place demands upon man; HE offers HIS servants the opportunity
of service in regards to the love HE has shown toward this race. (A silent witness of HIS unselfish love
is seen in the method HE uses to reward HIS servants --1 Cor.3:15 with 2 Tim.4:8 “Henceforth there is
laid up for me a crown of righteousness... “)
III- Even though gifts should be given HIM, HE has given vital gifts unto man at the times when man could
not, by any means, provide for himself. (A silent witness of HIS generous love is seen in the fact of the
GIFT of HIS SON --See John 3:16 --even the SON shows kinship to the “silent” FATHER in that the
prophet said “...HE opened not HIS mouth.”)

THE SILENCE Of GOD

Seen in the Results Rendered for Our Sakes

I- HE does not cry out the verdict of our guilt but “...whispers sweet peace...” to the soul of a sinner (Phil.
4:7 “...the peace of GOD, which passeth all understanding...”)
II- HE comes in quite assurance to the convert to add strength in place of the weakness of the believers flesh

-19-
(Gal.2:20 “I am crucified with CHRIST; nevertheless I live; yet not 1, but CHRIST liveth in me: and the
life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the SON of GOD, who loved me, and gave himself
for me.”)
III- HE will soon come again, the second time, in this silent manner to take from the house of the world a
bride for the SON at the “rapture” as these who have the wedding garment of Grace will be called up
to be with the BRIDEGROOM of Heaven forever (1 Thes.4:13-18 --But will it be silent?? The Scripture
has the record: Matt.12:19 (Isa.52:2); Mark 4:26; Luke 17:20)

The Preaching Of Sovereignty

Sermons Of Sovereignty

The Preaching
Of The Gospel
What is the “Gospel” &
What does it mean to me?
(Rom. 10: 13-15)

This is Mark’s word used in the Book of Mark...

1:1 “The Gospel of JESUS CHRIST”
1:15 “Believe the Gospel “
8:35 Something to lose one’s life for...
10:29 Something to lose ones house for...
13:10 Something that must be published...
16:15 Something that must be preached...
The word “Gospel” is used in many ways in the “Gospel Records”:
1) “Jesus went preaching” the Gospel (Matt. 4:23)
2) The poor have the Gospel preached unto them (Matt. 11: 15; Luke 7:22)
3) The imperative - This Gospel shall be preached (Matt.24:14; 26:13 Mark 16:15)
4) This was CHRIST’S regular practice (Luke 2: 1) The Gospel was CHRIST’S mission while on Earth
(Luke 4:18)

-20-
5) This was the office of those sent out by CHRIST - They “PREACHED” the Gospel (Luke 9:6)
The word “Gospel” is used in the rest of the New Testament 83 times, for a total of over 100 times. This
English word is, totally, a New Testament concept and, in exactly this manner is not mentioned in the Old
Testament. Because the book of Mark’s Gospel appears to be the oldest, in age, among the Gospel Records -
The rule of first mention applies to Mark 1: 1. (The “Rule Of First Mention” states that if you find the first
mention of a subject, all that is needed to be known to understand the subject is found in that place.) In this
first mention it is called “The Gospel of JESUS CHRIST.” YOU CAN FIND:
I- A False Gospel with:
A)Many False “christs” (Matt.24:5)
B)A system of False doctrines (Col.2:8)
C) A multitude of False prophets (Matt. 7:15)
D) An outspoken False religion (Matt.7:21)
E) A vocal False witness (Prov. 12.17)
F) An open False worship (Isa.42:8)
II- A Hidden Gospel (John 12:12 with Verse 36) A Gospel not seen by many.
III-Another Gospel (Gal. 1:6-7) A Gospel that is only a pale counterfeit - But where is the Gospel of Mark
1:1...?

I- The elements of the Gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-6)

A)CHRIST died for our sins (Vs.3)
B)That HE was buried (Vs.4a)
C)That HE arose again (Vs 4b)
D)Seen of many (Vs 5-6)
II- The Cost of the Gospel
A)GOD’S only SON
B)The shame of our sin endured by HIM (2 Cor.5:21)
C)HIS Blood (Col. 1:14)
III- The Power of the Gospel (Rom. 1:16)
A)It is alive (Heb.4:12)
B)lt is Spiritual power (1 Cor. 1: 17-18)
C)lt is our only weapon (Eph.6:17)

Preaching Defined
(1 Cor.2:1-5)
Preaching is more than communicating information, more than speaking on religious themes, more than
an oral address to the popular mind. Dynamic quality is involved, activated in a sense of man’s desperate
spiritual need, GOD’S divine call and the preacher’s driving, compelling, conviction that eternal
consequences rest upon the response to his messages.
Preaching is the heralding of GOD’S WORD under the anointing power of GOD’S SPIRIT in a dynamic
fashion, with an organized pattern that aims to meet the hearers spiritual needs. Preaching is “Not by might,
nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT, saith the LORD of HOST.” (Zec.4:6)
This short essay is full of truth and shines with wisdom - but seems to have no author as far can be found

-21-
— so it is with TRUTH -no human pen can claim the strokes that make the words nor the grammar that ties
them together - but men who wish to be used of GOD can claim these precepts and serve the eternal purpose,
of the CREATOR. (1 Cor. 1: 18) TWP

The Gospel

2 Cor.4:3; John 8:59

The Treasure Of The Gospel
(“But we have this, treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not
of us.” 2 Cor. 4:7) (Treasure = Anything collected together, provisions, or stores.)
1-Provision as of Food - A Treasure of com, wine, oil or honey (Jer.41:8)
2-Pride As in Money - A Treasure of Gold, silver, or brass (Ezek. 2 8:4; Dan 11:43)
3-Power as in Danger - GOD’S Treasure of snow, wind, hail, rain and waters (Job 38:22; Psa. 135:7)
4-Perseverance toward the Future - The wise men opened their treasures (Matt. 2:11)
The Gospel is said to be:
Zion’s Waymarks (Jer.31:21)
The Finger post of the Cities of Refuge
The Highway of Holiness
The Roman’s Road
The Gospel is not found:
By the pleasure seeker (Heb. 12:16)
In the hole in the wall (Ezek.8:7)
Through some &her way (John 10: 1)
To be the bloodless way of Cain

-22-
Or to be one of many other Gospels (Gal. 1:6-7)

The Prophets of all times are prone to go into Apostasy. (Jer.5:3 1) The TRUE Prophets are of an open
testimony as can be seen by contrast. (Zac. 13:4) John was the last of the Old Testament Prophets and the
first of the New Testament Preachers. (Matt. 3:4) There is a difference and we can see this clearly when one
is “Set Apart” to preach the Gospel in the order that GOD commands. (See 11 Kings 1:8)

The Grace of GOD

Man and the Grace of GOD
“Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” (Rom. 5:20)

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Are we saved by the deeds of our hands? -OR- Are we saved by the Grace of GOD without the means
of human deeds? This debate has raged for hundreds of years in the halls of Academic Theology. This
question has consumed men’s lives and cost them their fortunes. After the benefit of these years of study
and debate, I come down on the side of the question that states the matter thus: “I believe in the Free and
Sovereign Grace of GOD to save sinners. Salvation is granted as the gift of GOD, without the efforts of man
and without the means of man’s invention. “ I will try to explain in the next few lines.
At the time of creation, GOD made man in a perfect state. (Eccl.7:29 “...GOD bath made man upright;
but they have sought out many inventions.”) This amazing truth gives way to the question of the fall of
mankind. The race has been plunged into sin by “the fall” and the race is under this case today. According
to the verse quoted in Eccl.7:29, the race was created upright. But, OW. What a stark contrast after the
FALL? (See Rom. 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;...”) The “sin
nature” is past unto all by conception and not by practice (Psa. 51:5"...l was shapen in iniquity; and in sin
did my mother conceive me. “ Also Job 14:4 “Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one. “)
So you see the total person of fallen man under this sweeping change of the fall which renders man as he
is until today, unless he is redeemed. The whole race of man does not record one of the sons of man; except
CHRIST (and HE is the seed of woman and not the seed of a man -see Gen. 3:15) who has put in a sinless
record. (Psa. 58:3; Eph.2:3; Rom.3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:... “)
Without the GRACE of GOD there will never be one human soul in Heaven. The provision of grace for a
dark, lost world is no less than amazing. Webster defines grace as “unmerited favor.” The GREEK word for
grace is “CHARIS” which is seen as an attribute of GOD. This word is used 156 times in the Greek New
Testament.
GRACE is that factor which Calls (Galatians 1: 15 “But when it pleased God, who separated me from

-23-
my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, “) Grace is GOD’S portion to redeem (Luke 1:68 “Blessed
be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people...”) Grace is the influence that will
Justify (Rom. 3:24 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”)
GOD’S Grace Blesses (Galatians 3:8); Empowers (Ephesians 1:19); Keeps (Philippians 4:7) and, dear
reader, GOD’S Grace Glorifies (1 Corinthians 1:31 “That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him
glory in the Lord.”) “Surpassing riches of HIS grace” (Eph.2:7), “Manifold grace” (1 Peter 4: 10), “True
grace” (1 Peter 5:12), Abounding grace (Rom.5:20), “Abundant grace” (11 Cor.4:15), and the “Spirit of
grace” (Heb.10:29). Men do not “fall from grace” because of committed sin--But are put out of the reach
of grace when they substitute “LAW” for “GRACE”. (Gal.5:4)
The Grace of GOD is the meat of the message for the New Testament Preacher. If he preaches any other
message, he perverts the office to which the FATHER has called Preachers. I desire to magnify that message
in the ears of the hearers as I preach any sermon. We can talk of the grand themes of the modern pulpit if
you Re; but there is none that is as grand as GRACE. I am willing to allow all other subjects to falter in order
to raise GRACE to the top of the list of my focused visions. There can be no better phrase to describe
GOD’S care for the race than “Grand Grace”. Grace that goes to the root of the need of fallen man and
provides the need there. (Ex. 36:26) Grace that is only by Faith. (Eph.2:8-9) Grace that requires nothing from
the sinner. (Rom.5:6)
The Grace of GOD is the prime element of Bible Salvation. There is no other salvation taught in the
Bible. Men, women, boys and girls are all saved by Grace through Faith and not of works. If works were
effective to save, men could boast of redemption. Redemption is only for the Glory and Honor of GOD and
if HE can not have the Glory, I say, HE is not involved in that experience. The temporal religions of our day
are depots of profane, perishable, temporal salvation. HE surely offers a salvation that is Eternal. (Heb.9:12
“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.”)
OH! What joy it is to know the sweet truth of Heb. 13:5 “... for HE hath said, I will never leave thee, nor
forsake thee.” Our SAVIOR is the KEEPER of the Sheep Fold. He will keep those saved by the Grace of
GOD. “As Eve fell while her Adam was not by her side, our ‘LAST ADAM’ will never leave HIS BRIDE’S
side.” Matthew Henry has said, “Had she kept close to the side out
of which she was lately taken she had not been so exposed. “ So the
saint will be kept by the perpetual presents of the LORD -our “LAST
ADAM,” out of whose side flowed the blood that bought our
redemption. There can be no sweeter truth than the Doctrines of the
Grace of GOD. These Doctrines will free the believer to serve the
MASTER in the life that Grace has provided. AMEN.

Truth
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
(John 8:32)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man
cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

-24-
In the hope that something may abound toward the TRUTH in the life I live, I have put myself to the
grind stone to find out what TRUTH is. Pilate’s frustrated question of the Saviour may never have had an
answer (“...What is truth?” John 18:38) but GOD intends for the believer to know and be assured of
TRUTH. The Spiritual commodity that gives assurance and peace and rest and all that the saint enjoys is
TRUTH. Since HE lives in the heart of the saint, the saint can not abide error. There seems to be many sheep
of this day that have acquired the appetite of a goat. The sight is repulsive, seeing that the redeemed are
bidden to come boldly to the throne of Grace.
TRUTH is that which is reliable and can be trusted. The Bible uses truth in the general “factual” sense.
Truth may designate the actual fact over against appearance, pretense, or assertion. (Zechariah 8:16) In I and
2 Timothy, truth is correct knowledge or doctrine. Certain individuals had departed from proper doctrine.
Some “Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received
with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth-“ (1 Tim 4:3) “Error is dangerous! Some have
“...Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith
of some.” (2 Tim 2:18)
The essential idea of truth in the Bible is not conformity to some external standard but faithfulness or
reliability. In the case of God, of course, faithfulness or reliability is not measured by any external standard.
God is the standard. God’s truth (faithfulness or reliability) is the basic element for all other truth, (Deut.
7:9-10). He maintains covenant and steadfast love. When God is spoken of as the true God or the God of
truth (Deut. 32:4; 2 Chron. 15:3; Isa. 65:16; Jer. 10: 10) the- idea is that God is reliable. God “keepeth truth
for ever” (Psa. 146:6).
The “truth” of God’s commandments grows out of the fact of God and His truth (faithfulness or
reliability). The Word of God and His law are not true ,imply in the sense that they are in accord with
science, human nature, or some abstract ethical principle.
The most important uses of the word truth are to be found in the writings of Paul and John. Paul’s
acceptance of the Old Testament concept of truth is seen in Rom. 3:1-7. The truth of God is described in the
words “faithfulness” (3:3) and “justice” (3:5). In 3:4, Paul declared, “...yea, let GOD be, true, but every man
a liar...”
Truth and sincerity are associated, and both are opposed to malice and evil. Truth is not simply a matter
of propositional accuracy. Paul spoke of truth as something that is to be obeyed (Rom. 2:8; Gal. 5:7). Paul
spoke of the truth of God as being revealed not so much in the law as. in Christ (Rom. 15:8-9). In Christ,
God’s kingdom has become manifested (Rom. 1:1-6; 16:25-26; 2 Cor. 4:6). The truth and the gospel are
related in the phrase “the truth of the gospel” (Gal. 2:5,14). One hears and believes the truth and; therefore,
is in Christ (Eph. 1: 13).
The writings of John identify Christ with the truth: “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth
came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of
the Father, he hath declared him. “ (John 1: 17-18) In testimony before Pilate,. Jesus declared: “Pilate
therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. -To this end
was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that
is of the truth heareth my voice.” (John 18:37). God is the truth; and since Christ shares in the truth of God,
He is full of grace and truth. He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6); He is the true Light and the
true-Vine (John 1:9; 15:1). In the Gospel of John, the activity of the Holy Spirit is associated with the
activity of Jesus in so far as truth is concerned. “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto

-25-
you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And
ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.” (John 15:26-27)
John emphasized the appropriation of the truth by disciples. In Jesus’ high priestly prayer, He prayed:
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also
sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through
the truth.” (John 17:17-19 Followers of Christ are of “the truth” (John 18:37) This knowledge of truth is not
simply “head knowledge.” It is a matter of receiving Christ (John 1:11-13). This acceptance of Jesus and
receiving of the truth is accompanied by walking in the truth or in the light (2 John 4; 2 John 3-4; 1 John
1:7). It is in light of this understanding of truth that John can speak of doing the truth (John 3:21; 1 John
1:6).
“Truth is a blessing; error is a curse. Truth is pure; error is impure. Truth is hated; error is loved. Truth
reveals; error conceals. Truth gathers; error scatters. Truth builds up; error pulls down. Truth makes man
better; error makes him worse. Truth elevates man; error debases him. Truth enlightens man; error darkens
him. Truth leads man right; error leads him wrong. Truth lightens man’s burden; error makes it heavier.
Truth strengthens man; error weakens him. It is better to be a despised teacher of truth than to be an
applauded or approved teacher of error.” (Quotation taken from “Truth For Today” edited by W.Fulton)
In the life of the saved of every day the Word of GOD has been the fount of TRUTH. This is all that
some have had between themselves and death. The comfort of the Bible is in the fact that it is TRUTH.
(“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17)

A Brief, But Mighty Tribute To The Bible
This BOOK reveals the mind of GOD, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and
the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its brief
are immutable.
Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, and
comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the solder’s sword, and
the Christian’s charter.
Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of Hell disclosed. CHRIST is its grand subject,
our good its design, and the glory of GOD its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the
feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully.
It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened
at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest
labor, and condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.
The BOOK, The One BOOK, The BOOK of BOOKS, The BOOK of GOD, The BIBLE, The Revelation
of GOD to fallen man!!

-27-
HE Is Precious
(1 Peter 2:7 “Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the
stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,”)
There have been many precious things possessed in v those who valued them. The jewels of treasured
riches, the art of the masters, the stock certificates of the companies of the tycoons,, the coined silver and
gold of past generations and the collectibles of unthinkable number. The bean counters are accustomed to
their system. The value of these items are set by the market place and the established value may change with
many factors - the state of the economy, the value of other compatible items, and the condition of the object.
These factors are standard for material objects-, but for The LORD, HIS value is established my divine
decree, maintained by wonderful display-, and provided for by the personal dedication of Believers.
The above text is a great light on this matter. If there is no recognition of HIS divine merit within the
ranks of the scholars and masters of today’s society; there is a value system that appraises HIM far above
all champions. This system is a believing mind-set. The doubters of our day are those who do not have a
relish for HIM. Believers are in a state of mesmerism in thoughts of HIM. “Unto you therefore which believe
he is precious:...” This is a statement of direct opposition to unbelief. The unbeliever is a Supernatural
peasant, and a Spiritual pauper - destitute in abject, Metaphysical poverty.
The message of HIS value is not to draw the sinner to CHRIST (The drawing of sinners is in the hands
of the FATHER in Free Grace and Sovereign Will Eph. 1:4-5); but to thrill the saints through the reminder
of HIS Love for the fallen race in contrasting splendor of CHRIST’S worth.
What would be the message of HIS worth and the thrill, to the believer, of his excellence? Not a mere
sermon for pulpit exercise, nor an exposition for the flexing of a homiletic mind, but an adoration of the
Dying Lamb and The Living LORD.

The Message Of Christ’s Worthiness To The Saints

I- He is Immanuel (GOD with us) - Mat 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth
a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD with us. John 1:3 All

-28-
things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” John 8:58 “Jesus
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was., I am.”
II- He is the Redeemer - Job 19:25-27 “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the
latter day upon the earth: and though after, my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shell I see
God: Whom I shell see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be
consumed within me.”
III- The Mediator - John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh

unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:13-14 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” 1 Tim 2:5 “For
there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
IV- The Resurrection And The Life - John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:
he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” 1 Thes 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself
shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and
the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Looking Into The Eyes Of The Master

There is no doubt in the mind of this preacher that the eyes of the LORD and MASTER of the souls of
men do not look anything like the picture above. These sad eyes are rather the eyes HE may see with a
hopeless expression and an emptiness that tells the tale of our state. The race is in a fallen state that only the
eye of a HOLY GOD can change.
The eye is said to be the “window” of the heart - At any rate, the eye is the only view we have into each
other. Looking into human eyes one can see the case of the soul of mankind and it is true that the eyes often
tell the secrets of the heart. If one could control the eye he could speak clearer messages with fewer words.
If one could only control the eye - But the eye controls most of the human family under the bondage of “lust,
sin, death.” (James 1:14-15 “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is
finished, bringeth forth death.” compare 1 John 2:16 “...the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life...”) As can be understood from this, the eye is in high priority. If pictures could be taken of only
the eyes of subjects at random there would be an essay of human condition powerful enough to convince

-29-
the honest mind. We would find Dim Eyes - of sight (the Gospel hidden form view and blinded), Darkened
Eyes - of sin (marked with hopelessness), Discouraged Eyes - of sadness (no relief from the plight of
depravity), Despondent Eyes - of sorrow (empty and drained under the fall), Dreadful Eyes - of seriousness
(no horror like this in any other part of creation), Down Eyes - of suffering (never to rise to the light again):
This view seems to be the end, but turn the camera of imagination toward more eyes and find Desperate
Eyes - of seeking (and finding a seeking SAVIOUR), Deep Eyes - of sincerity (under the move of conviction,
conversion and regeneration), Determined Eyes - of service (guided by the eyes of GOD in leading the
hopeless to help in the light of Grace). This essay of sight would revile Lax Eyes, Lingering Eyes, Looking
Eyes, Longing Eyes, but, Thank GOD, Lifted Eyes. (Psa. 3:3 “But thou, 0 LORD, art a shield for me; my
glory, and the, lifter up of mine head.)
These eyes cannot deny GOD the moment of focus that HE requires. HE is looking even now into the
reading of this sermon. His eyes have guided the author’s hand in the work and HIS HOLY SPIRIT is now
seeing to it that you grow a little uncomfortable in the knowledge that HE sees the response of the reader.
The Scriptures that teach the truth about the eyes of GOD are few but the conclusion is clear. (Prov 15:3
“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. “) There can, therefore, be no
escape - we must look into HIS “all seeing” eyes. When the finite eyes of mankind see the glories of HIS
continence all respond in the same manner. Some fainted, some fell backward, some were smote to the
ground, some feared, some were broken to tears, some fled and some were encouraged upon their knees, but
none could ever look away without being changed. These eyes are mentioned throughout the Old and New
Testament. In all the places where the phrase “the eyes of the Lord” is found we find the message of this
mighty expression:

I-There is Grace in HIS eyes (Gen.6:8)

2-HIS eyes are on the land of promise (Deut. 11:12)
3-There is an action that is right in HIS eyes (Deut 13:18; 1 Kings 15:5, 15:11, 22:43; 2 Chron. 14:2)
4-HIS eyes are a life determining factor (1 Sam. 26:24)
5-There is faviour in HIS eyes (2 Sam. 15:25)
6-Many do evil in HIS eyes (1 Kings 16:25; 2 Chron.21:6; 29:6; Jer.52:2)
7-There is strength in HIS eyes (2 Chron. 16:9)
8-IM eyes see the righteous 2nd hear their cry (Psa. 34:15; 1 Peter 3:12)
9-The ways of man are in the eyes of GOD (Prov. 5:2 1)
10-The eyes of the LORD are the vital element in knowledge (Prov.22:12)
11-The testimony of the people of GOD are glorious in HIS eyes (Isa.49:5)
12-HIS eyes see the sinner in his path (Amos 9:8)
13-HIS eyes are the power behind the Right ruler (Zec.4:10)
14-But it is true that HIS eyes are in every place (Prov. 15:3)

These eyes need not be escaped for the goodness of these eyes is found nowhere else. In the eyes of the
MASTER we find the need of the fallen race. Look full into these eyes of Spiritual power and see the need
of the broken, human heart.

I- These EYES are Sovereign EYES

A- In Every Place (Omnipresence) (Psa. 44:20-21 “If we have forgotten the name of our God, or

-30-
stretched out our hands to a strange god; Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets
of the heart”)
B- EYES full of Mercy (Sovereign Mercy) (Rom. 9:15-18 “For he saith to Moses, I will save have mercy
on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whome I will have compassion. So then
it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy...Therefore hath
he mercy on whom he will have, mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.”)
C- EYES full of Love (Sovereign Love) (Rom.9:13 “As it is written, Jacob have, Loved, but Esau have
I hated.”)

II- These are EYES of Sanctification

A- Fiery EYES to cleanse (Rev. 1: 13-18 See Verse 14 “...and his eyes were as a flame of fire;”)
B- Tender EYES to understand (Eph. 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”)
C- Teaching EYES to instruct (Psa. 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt
go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”)

III- These Are EYFS of Salvation

A- EYES of Concern & Reconciliation (1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he carreth for
you.” With Heb.2:17 “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that
he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things petlaining to God, to make reconciliation
for the sins of the people.”)
B- EYES of Conviction & Restoration (Job 33:27-30 He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned,
and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going into
the pit, and his life shall see the light. Lo,all these thing worketh God oftentimes with man, To bring
back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.” With Joel 2:25 “And I will
restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the
palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”)
C- EYES of Conversion & Regeneration (John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which
sent me draw him...” With Titus 3:5 “...according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”)

These EYES of GOD are a largely un-reckoned with factor. These Eyes move the sinner to his knees -
and the saint to his feet. These Eyes make the strong weak - and the weak strong. These Eyes Manifest wrath
to the wicked - and mercy to the repentant. Where do the EYES of GOD find you as they see us all in this
hour.

“The eyes of the LORD are in every place,

beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

-31-
The Thoughts Of
The Sovereign
— For The Servants —

(“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,

saith the LORD...to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11)

What a pleasant thing and a matter that provokes the most interesting thrills in the heart of the
Redeemed... The thoughts of the Sovereign for the servants. The facts of these considerations are a great part
of the mystery of GOD. Before the reader’s eyes come to the meat of the message, we must establish that
the thoughts of the Sovereign are upon the race of man. To complete this concept we need a few texts to
prove the fact. Perfect understanding is far from the human mind but the “Mind of GOD” is perfect and the
Scriptures are the “Mind of GOD” - Where they speak there will be perfect Truth.
The mind of GOD is occupied with the reflections upon the race of mankind in so many ways. GOD
loves righteousness and uprightness. (Psa. 33:5; 11:7) (“Love” is an action of the mind that results in an
action of the will toward the subject - more to be said about this) The mind of GOD is said to be on the
sparrow and you are of more value. It is sure that HE has put HIS eye fast on the saint. (Matt.10:29-31; Luke
12:6-7) With the wicked HE is angry everyday. (Psa. 7:11) HE always holds up HIS elect in HIS heart in
order to save and keep them. (Ia.42:1) To be kept by the LORD’S mighty hand is a marvelous condition.
Surely there must be many reflections of this security that will thrill the reader. To be “Kept” carries with
it the thought of being retained or held fast. (2 Tim.1:14) To be “Kept” is to be defended or protected. (Psa.
127:1) To be “Kept” has the meaning of an observance or practice of this condition. (Psa. 119:4) This
divinely induced and superintended state is carried out as the duty of a HOLY GOD to observe the needs
of the fallen race for this condition. But there seems to be a more full and a mightier expression of being
“Kept”. It would be a celebration if known in the human family and, indeed, there is a celebration of the
Redeemed in Heaven (Luke 15:10), but words would fail to display what is “Kept” as one lowly sinner is
“Kept” by the Power of Free Grace in the hand of the FATHER. (Matt.26:18; Luke 15:4-7)
HIS continual considerations are that HE might bless and keep the saint. (Psa. 17:8) The ways of the
ungodly are not HIS ways and he meditates upon the redeemed day and night. Is it a small thing that I declare
the thoughts of GOD for the human family?
I- In particular, there are the thoughts of the Sovereign of everlasting love. (“The LORD hath
appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with
lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jer.31:3) Love that reaches beyond the “past” and extends farther than
the future. Love that never fails. Love that is incomprehensible to the mind of man and then we must add
the modifier “everlasting”. There are the thoughts of love; full to every increase - Full Joy (1 John 1:4) -
Full Reward (2 John 8) - Full Blessing (Heb.6:14) - Full Glory (1 Peter 1:8).
This everlasting love is Faithful to every Son of Free Grace. The concept of Divine love is at once

-32-
Jealous (2 Cor.11:2), and Joyous (Luke 19:6b), and Justifying (Ia.53:11). Enjoyed by the saint (Overlooked
by the blinded eye of the unsaved as taught in 2 Cor.4:4). This love is both Sanctifying (2 Cor.5:14) and
Satisfying (Psa. 107:9) and Securing (1 Peter 1:5).
The love of GOD is a Fateful love without being “Fatalistic”. The only things that move the heart of
the Sovereign GOD are compassion on HIS part (Matt.9:36; 14:14; 18:27; Mark 1:41; 6:34) and intercessory
prayer on the part of the saint. (2 Chron.30:18-19) Fatalism would have GOD bound to the confines of a
“blind, unknown, irresistible force” and therefore locked into whatever case “Fate” might cast the human
soul. However, the unchanging GOD is in vital control of HIS own doings to the point of ordering the affairs
of the human family so as to answer prayer, recognize the cries of the redeemed, and honor even the
intercessory groans from the closet of the meekest saint!
II- The Thoughts of GOD are, also, thoughts of Divine Providence. (“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast
made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for
thee: Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the
bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name, Great in
counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one
according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: Which hast set signs and wonders in the land
of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;”
Jer.32:17-20) The operation of “providence” is GOD’S process to prepare and proscribe for the affairs of
the race of man. No monarch is as grand in his power to rule and the truth of this is clear. (Prov.21:1) The
divine mind turns steadily to the thoughts of providence and of a never failing purpose. GOD is the
thoughtful superintendent of the only order that raises over the anarchy and chaos of meaningless, lost
existence. The thoughts of GOD are also of the compelling power of Grace. (Rom.2:14) The un-lovable are,
indeed, loved unto redemption through the Goodness of GOD when HE saves the wicked, the wretched, the
woeful and the wrong. HE only saves the sinner, the lost, the sad and the condemned. Guilty are all under
the debt of depravity. HIS providence is the thoughtful endeavor that engenders the Joys of the state of the
elect. (Heb.12:2) It can be proven that HE has personally selected the saved to come to HIM under the divine
call and turn to HIM under Grace: A) Personally Adopted - Son placed with Sonship (1 Peter 1:2; Ia.65:9,
22) B) Perfectly Justified - Rendered sinless with no Sin Debt (Rom.3:20-28) C) Positional Sanctified -
Separated unto service. (Phil.3:20-21) The thought of the state of the elect is a deliberation that thrills the
redeemed - envision if you will: A) Sitting in Heavenly places (Eph.2:6) B) Serving in the army of the
KING (2 Tim.2:3-4) -and C) Satisfied with CHRIST. (with CHRIST the Bread - John 6:48-51 - with
CHRIST the Water of Life John 4:10 - with CHRIST our Rest - Matt.11:28-30)
III- The thoughts of the effectual call answered are thoughts of full wonder and mystery. (“Moreover
the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the
prison, saying, Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD
is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou
knowest not.” Jer.33:1-3) The Call of GOD is answered in willing terms - All who are saved call HIM
LORD. The woeings of the SAVIOUR are answered under worshipful tones -All who answer reply:
“Thou art worthy...” The Summons of the SOVEREIGN is answered with the wail of tenderness from
the needy race: “Please” - “Yes” - “Now LORD...” - “Save me or I parish...” (The dilemma is abundantly
clear) the hands of the MASTER are nail-scared - The wounds are fresh - The Blood goes deeper than the
stain of sin has gone - The answer is without regrets...

-33-
Every time I consider this line of study my eyes tear up
and my heart beats a little faster as I think of this work of
regeneration that was brought to pass on my sinning heart
- Benighted with darkness deeper than a “...thousand
midnights in a cypress swamp.” No Hope!!! - Then Hope
offered itself in Free Grace. And with willing, yet
trembling hands I answered HIM unto Salvation... Is it
possible that HE is calling you from the pins of the old
rugged tree even now and you are about to say yes? - Fear
is all passed by and the Truth that there will be enough
Blood to save the lost of every generation is the greatest of
all “The Thoughts Of The Sovereign For HIS Servants”
- “Though Millions have come, there IS still room for
one...There’s room at the cross for you...”

-34-
The Conclusion
Of The Matter

In the end of this treatment, the intention of the author must be stated clearly. To live under the
knowledge of the Sovereignty of GOD and to preach this truth and HIS Free Grace to a benighted world is
the intention of any honest minister. This intention has been objected to by the “Free-Willers” of every
generation but I do not wish to be numbered with the detractors of Grace.
The objections that are offered are well known among the saints. There could be several noted; but the
objection that encompasses all others is the “Free-Will” (or Works) doctrine. In this system of works, man
is lifted to the state of ability and GOD is rendered as a tired “white headed old man” in the position of
“begging” sinners to come to HIS free gift of Salvation. If this be allowed, then falling from this Grace is
the next logical step.
This system of objections darkens the glory of GOD, Indicts the claims of GOD and Shadows the
Sovereignty of GOD. The uninformed number often charge the preacher of Grace with un-thinkable
allegations. In the face of this objection, the heat of an unscriptural obligation, and the specter of rank rank
legalism may be felt. But if the Sovereignty of GOD is not true hopelessness is our hap and doubt will rule
in the halls of Dogma.
The declaration to be rendered is a conflict to the flesh and must be made with some determination - it
does not come easily. The “Free-Will” matter is in all mankind and the only testimony of Grace is in the
Word of GOD. The Truth of Divine Doctrine always conflicts with the natural inclinations of the flesh. So,
there remains a mighty battle to face. The Spiritual battle for the mind and heart is mine (and each that
stands) along with the Sure Victory in CHRIST.
The conclusion must be drawn that a GOD who is not Sovereign is not GOD. The fear of most revolves
around the fact that Sovereignty calls for “Absolutism”. This must be a frightening prospect - Absolutism
calls for Accountability (2 Cor.5:10); Assimilation (Phil.3:12-13) and Approval (Rom.8:29-34)
In the light of abundant Bible teaching, the Doctrines of The Sovereignty of GOD are the only teachings
that will survive the test of Scripture. (Isa.18:20) Three questions leave the case without debate: 1) Is our
GOD ABLE (Heb.7:25)? 2) Is the race of mankind in the grip of sin and the fall, so as to render him
“unable” (Impotent) (Rom.5:6; Gen.6:5; Rom.3:11)? 3) Can GOD; therefore, redeem the fallen race of
mankind (Rom.8:28-34)? If HE is Sovereign HE can redeem all he chooses - If he is finite; the sinner has
no hope and preachers are vain.
Under this reasoning, the Doctrines of the Sovereignty of GOD becomes a more than tenable position.
This position is born by many: A.W. Pink, John Gill, Benjamin Keach, F.B. Meyer, C.H. Spurgeon, John
Calvin, George Whitfield, John Flaval, L.R. Shelton, Henry Thiessen, R.C. Ryle, B.B. Warfield, Augustine
of Hippo, A.W. Tozer, B.B. Caldweld, Rolfe Barnard and a host of many with which I gladly take my place.
I surely do not believe everything that these men teach but in matters of Sovereignty, I am gladly akin.
In the matter of GOD’S Attributes, it is vital that the child of GOD must know GOD! There is no way
around the matter. In the past few pages I have set forth the few Attributes of Our great GOD in my finite
words. I have not dealt with the most popular subjects of HIS attributes. Nevertheless; HE is a GOD who
possesses these more frequently mentioned assessments, the ones related here as well as many more that our

-35-
work here will not allow to be treated at this time. “...the people that do know their GOD shall be strong.”
(Dan. 11: 32)
The virtue of knowing GOD is not surpassed by any might known to mankind as can be seen at the
reading of Jeremiah 9:23-24. “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let
the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in
this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment,
and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.” In Hosea 6:3 we are plainly
told that if we are to know we must “...follow on to know the LORD...” We must take the things that we
have learned in the past and apply them to the future life in CHRIST and, as it is said, “follow on to know
the LORD” in our own lives.

How To Follow On To Know The LORD

(Hosea 6:3)
I- Yield to HIS person by Faith (Heb. 11:6)
II- Submit to HIS Authority in Fear (Isa. 8:13; Matt. 10:28; 1 Peter 1:17, 2:17)
III- Regulate life according to HIS commandments and Holy precepts (John 7:17)

“Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy

power...” (Psa. 110:3 See Rev. 3:20)
Under the Divine Hand of GOD many possibilities are seen. In HIS Hand, HE could destroy the sinner
-HE could defeat the sinner -HE could deject the sinner - HE could and more --But Thanks be to GOD!!
HE draws the sinner. A HOLY GOD awaits. (“Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the
days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.” Ezek.22:14)
I. The Drawing of the “FATHER which hath sent” CHRIST (John 6:44) “No man can come to me,
except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
A) The responsibility of all to face HIM (Heb.9:27)
B) The personal Sovereignty of the FATHER (Acts 17:22-25)
C) The total inability of man to stand before HIM (Mal.3:2, Matt.23:27; Mark 7:21)
II. The Drawing of “CHRIST lifted up” (John 12:32) “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw
all men unto me.”
A) The complete suffering for sinners (Phil.2:7-8)
B) The shock of the cross (Heb. 12:2)
C) The freshness of HIS wounds (Heb.9:11-14)
III- The Promise of GOD (Titus 1:2) “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before
the world began;”
A) The terms of this promise (Isa.53:10-11) “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him
to grief. when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his
days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. HE shall see of the travail of his soul,
and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear
their iniquities.”
B) The value of this promise (Rom.8:32) “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us

-36-
all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
C) The satisfaction of this promise (John 17:6) “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou
gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.”

“Not by works of righteousness which we have

done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by
the washing of regeneration, and renewing of
the Holy Ghost.” (Titus 3:5)
This marks the end of our study of Sovereignty in the GODHEAD. We have looked at HIS nature. The
private nature of GOD will never be opened to the mortal eye but the expositor may gain vital insight into
this matter through the Bible. There may be many motives to attain this knowledge. One may seek to impress
others by this means. One may be deluded so as to think that the level of Deity could be emulated by man
and thereby obtain “god-hood” over others. Another may be of the vain view that GOD could be overthrown
and replaced with the dogmatic reasoning of mankind. Yet, in light of the danger of all this, there are some
who seek this knowledge for HIS Glory alone and wish only to uplift HIM in the sight of others. (John
12:32-33 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what
death he should die.”)
These lines are blessed truth to the Redeemed. There are no sweeter thrills than the joys of the Redeemer.
It should be noted that to be bought with the price of the SON’S Blood is indeed a wonderful case and if I
may say in the last I am glad to be HIS Child. It is my hope that this work may cast a shaft of light into the
darkness. Darkness is the only enemy of the Truth and I do not intend to stay in the darkness long enough
to get accustomed to its blinding state. May our Sovereign GOD lead all into the full light of Free Grace unto
the full joy of the Truth.

“Blessed is the man whom

thou chooseth, and causest to
approach unto thee, that he
may dwell in thy courts...”
(Psa. 65:4)

An Evangelistic Message From
The Preacher To The Reader
“How To Be Saved And Know It...”
Many people question the Bible teaching of the security of the believer in Jesus’ Church. The question is
rooted in a lack of knowledge concerning the plan of Salvation as taught in God’s word.

I. Do you believe you are a lost sinner? See Rom.3:9- “We have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they
are all under sin.” Also see Rom. 3:23- “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Eccles. 7:20) So
we note here that all the testimonies regarding the state of the natural man, is that he is a sinner and lost.
II. Do you believe that your Sins Bear A Death Penalty. See Rom.6:23- “For the wages of sin is death...” Also see
James 1:15- “And sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (Rom.7:5) God’s verdict has always been, to
the soul that sinneth it shall die. Ezek.18:4.
III. Do you believe that Christ died in your place. He paid the Sin-Debt for you. See 1 Peter 3:18- “For Christ
also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. “ (1 Cor. 15:3) You will
have to pay your sin-debt unless you look to Christ as your Saviour. He died on the Cross, and bore your sins
in His own body, so you wouldn’t have to die.
IV. Do you believe that in Jesus Christ There Is Complete Provision For Your Salvation. See 1 John 5:11-12
– “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son
hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (Rom. 3:2) The record of God is, that as many as
believe in Christ have everlasting life, and the righteousness of God is theirs. God has made complete provision
for your Salvation, and it is freely provided in His Son.
V. Do you believe that this Salvation is yours, the very moment you believe on HIM. See John 1:12 – “But as
many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His
name. “ Also see Acts 16:3 1 - “ Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Salvation is by faith
in Jesus Christ. He is the only means and way of salvation. We become sons of God by faith in Jesus Christ. What
more would we ask of God?
VI. Now last, how can you know that you are saved? God says that you are saved if you believe these things: See
1 John 5:13 – “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may
know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (John 3:36; John 5:24)
Also see John 6:37- “All that the FATHER giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no
wise cast out. “ Your salvation, my friend, does not rest upon any promise of man, but upon the divine veracity
of God himself. These are not fables, or theories, but it is your promise through the word of God. You can depend
upon it. (“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: Not of works.
lest any man should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9)

Dear Friend, if this short Bible study has lead you to see yourself a sinner, lost, and in need of salvation, please
call on the LORD now as you pray this prayer: LORD, I know I have sinned by breaking Your laws, and now in
repentance, I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I want to be born again and receive new
life in Him. I will follow Jesus as my Lord and obey Him in all that I do. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
If GOD has saved you, please write and testify of your conversion. We would enjoy rejoicing with you over your
salvation and new life in Christ.
