Introduction

It is not hidden in our very own eyes and consciousness that hypertension predominantly exist not only on one specific country or even in one race, but rather both develop and developing countries in the world regardless of the status in the society. Hypertension had affects millions and millions of people and more probably will increase dramatically over the next 15 years. As of this moment it is not just a glimpse of reality about hypertension that we see but rather the whole picture. This reality cannot be hidden because it exist right in front you or even in you. What is hypertension then? Hypertension is a term used to describe high blood pressure. Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood throughout the body. The normal blood pressure reading is 120 over 80 Millimeter mercury (120/80mmHg). High blood pressure or hypertension occur when blood pressure reading is 140/90mmHg or higher. Perhaps higher than the normal level of blood pressure but less than 140/90mmHg is known as pre-hypertension which may be sooner or later can be lead to hypertension if it will be ignored or will not be given medical attention. Hypertension or high blood pressure disease may seem so ordinary, but what people do not know is that; it is a silent killer and a silent disease. A silent disease because one can have it without knowing and show no symptoms for years. A silent killer because it can put you between life and death or even directly to death without giving you any warning that will attack you to the worst scenario that you could not imagine. The dramatic increase of the number of hypertensive patient is very alarming for this give us the sign that there will be an increase number of people who shall be attacked by the silent killer. Though the medical professionals had developed new drugs and strategies to implement it but still the big question is: does all hypertensive patients are oriented about it? This disease is preventable through healthy living and regular physical activity. It can be controlled through different interventions such as lifestyle modification and drug regimen. But this disease is something that we can never ever get rid once a person has it, that is why compliance to the regimen

,both pharmacological and behavioral is a must . if that is the case, why there are still an increase number of such patients? Is it because they fail to comply with their regimen? Then if yes, what are the hindrances that cause it?

Statement of the problem

This study aimed to identify the level of compliance in the regimen of the Hypertensive Patients at Leticia homes Subdivision, Caloocan City Specifically this study will answer the following queries: 1. Profile of the respondents: 1.1. Age 1.2. Gender 1.3. Civil status 1.4. Religion 1.5. Economic status 1.6. Educational attainment 1.7. Lifestyle 2. How often they do follow the prescription that was given by their physician: 2.1. Appearance of signs and symptoms 2.2. Schedule given by the physician 2.3. Others (to be specified by the respondents) 3. How often do they seek their physicians advice? 3.1. Daily 3.2. Weekly 3.3. Monthly 3.4. Yearly 3.5. Hospital confinement 4. How do they comply with their regimen? 4.1. Completely and strictly as the physician said 4.2. Only the take some of it 4.3. Nothing at all just practicing the beliefs 4.3.1. Garlic 4.3.2. Eating pineapple 4.3.3. Cucumber 4.3.4. Lifestyle modification 4.3.5. Rest 4.4. Fail to comply with the instruction

Hypothesis There is a significant relationship between the demographic profile of the respondents to the level of compliance on the regimen of the hypertensive patients. And also other significant factors that may affect in their level of compliance on the regimen of the hypertensive patients is the frequency they take the drugs, how often they seek their physicians advice and on what way or how they comply with their regimen. Other factors that may affect it includes their economic status, daily schedule, knowledge about their disease and the drugs, how they understand or comprehend with their physicians advice and their concerns about the side effect of the drugs and how their disorder affect their lifestyle and their everyday living.

Significance of the Study The study aimed to know the level of compliance on the regimen of the hypertensive patients at Leticia Homes Maligaya Park Subdivision Caloocan City. Specifically the result of the study will benefit the following; Service Providers. The study will help them in giving the right approach to the hypertensive patients and will be able to propose an educational course in the community that will help the clients in terms of improving their compliance to their drug regimen. Client. The study will increase their level of awareness in terms of ways of how to comply effectively in their medication and will benefit from the programs that will be establish by the community and service providers. Community.The study will serve as a tool in encouraging the barangay officials to establish a program that will tackle the importance of taking hypertensive drugs and effective ways of complying to this medication. Students.The study will serve as an instrument in acquiring knowledge and as an eye opener of how to deal to those hypertensive patients in the clinical area who fail to comply in their drug regimen. Educational Institution.The study will be a very useful tool that will serve as basis on how they will educate and formulate quality education that will mold and shape competitive and efficient nursing students for the new generation. Practitioners.The study will help the health professionals in deciding ways and strategies of how to make the clients comply with the medication that they had given. Researchers.The study will serve as basis for their future research and they can update it with the use of modern ways and depending on the latest phenomena in the society. It can also contribute in their review of related literature.

Scope and Delimitation

The study limits 50 residents in a certain Subdivision in Caloocan City who are hypertensive with a blood pressure of 140/90 or higher and with random ages also with random genders. Each of the respondents is given same questionnaires to answer. Also this study focusses on the randomly selected residents in a Subdivision, Caloocan City who are hypertensive.
