MAE 177 SPRING 2012 INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DRAWING/CAD AUTOCAD 2012-PRO/E LAB SCHEDULE & TUTORIAL ASSIGNMENTS

This lab schedule and assignments is designed to proceed in a pedagogical fashion to guide you from constructing basic shapes to making multiview and assembly engineering drawings in a hands on fashion. The basic premise is that the more designs you create, the more proficient you will become with the software. In the time allotted (about 28 lab hours) we can only provide an introduction to AutoCad and PRO/E software and help you establish a solid basis for exploring and growing in the CAD environment as related to Engineering Drawing. The difficulty level set by the drawing assignments is orientated towards the student with no prior computer experience, CAD or otherwise. Advanced students will feel equally accomplished as they complete the various phases of the tutorial and lend assistance to others. This is encouraged. Of course lending assistance is not allowing others to copy your work. The following lessons and page references are the basics of AutoCad 2012 & Pro/Engineer that you will concentrate on in order to produce the FIVE PRACTICE CAD LAB assignments, the practice Pro/E assignments and the PHASES OF THE FINAL PROJECT. Note the due dates for the five Practice Cad Lab assignments and work to have them all completed by midterm. As you complete each practice assignment, show your work to the TA and he/she will record that you completed it successfully. THE PRE-PHASE, PHASE #1, #2 & #3 WILL BE PRINTED, SIGNED BY THE TA AND SUBMITTED TO ME FOR GRADING. It is imperative that you do not miss any labs and stay on schedule or as close to it as possible. I strongly suggest that you seek extra lab time to get ahead to allow ample time to complete all Phases of the Final Project.
