BATTLE COLOR DETACHMENT TO VISIT MIRAMAR The Battle Color Detachment will be aboard MCAS Miramar on Thursday, March 8, 2012. The ceremony will be performed at the Parade Deck beginning at 1500. All Marines, sailors, families and staff are welcome to attend! The Battle Color Detachment (BCD) is comprised of three performing ceremonial units from Marine Barracks Washington, D.C.: the Marine Corps Color Guard, the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, and the Marine Corps Drum & Bugle Corps. Each year, Marines of the BCD travel in every clime and to every place in the world to perform for hundreds and thousands of spectators. These valiant men and women represent the best of America, and they personify the proud spirit of our nation! OPERATION MAGIC COMEDY VARIETY SHOW Who: Eligible patrons ages 18 and up (Adult Content). AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASS Become an American Red Cross Lifeguard Today! The Lifeguard Certification Class takes place at the MCAS Miramar 50-Meter Pool starting April 2 through April 6. The cost of the course is $175/person for eligible military personnel (AD, Retired, Reserves, Dependents and DOD Civilians). The fee includes tuition and text. CREDO MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT RETREATS AVAILABLE CREDO at Camp Pendleton is a highly effective retreat program supporting Marine Corps readiness, retention, recruiting and quality of life priorities. The retreats provide participants the opportunity to develop new perspectives about relationships with family and friends, the military and spiritual traditions. CREDO is open to members of the armed forces on active duty and their immediate family members, and members of reserve components in an active status and their immediate family members. ACT TODAY FOR MILITARY FAMILIES 5k/10k/Fun Run for Act Today! Autism Care and Treatment for Military Families. This organization supports military families that have children with autism. They are able to provide to proven therapies such as ABA therapy to families whose TRICARE coverage does not cover these expenses. They also provide funds for families to ensure the safety of their children; these can include building fences, installing alarms, etc. As well, this organization is an advocate for military families, provide awareness and they are big on fighting for legislation that will help our military families with children with disabilities. MILITARY SAVES IS COMING TO MURPHY CANYON ON MARCH 6! As part of Military Saves week from Mar 5 to Mar 9, the Fleet and Family Support Center invites you to join us at Murphy Canyon Chapel on Mar 6th, for dinner and a talk with the experts. Dinner for the whole family will be provided free of charge, followed by talks with the experts on reducing debt, creating savings and building wealth over time. Dinner is from 5-6 pm, with talks from 6-8 pm. Programs will be provided for children 5 years and older. POSTPARTUM SUPPORT GROUP During the first year after childbirth many women experience: Anxiety Excessive Worries Sadness Helplessness Guilt Sleep or eating problems Irritability Tearfulness . Have you experienced any these? You are not alone. There is help. Women are more at risk of experiencing emotional difficulties following the birth of a baby than at any other time in their lives. Research has shown that social support is a key factor in recovering and staying well. The professionally run Postpartum Support Group is an open, ongoing support group for new mothers which offers education and support. This group will provide a safe and supportive environment for sharing feelings and concerns. Who: Active duty members or dependents who are postpartum (up to 1 year postpartum). MALS-11, EMARINE COMMUNICATION TOOL (SEE FLYER ON PG 8) EMARINE is here at MALS-11. EMarine is our official organizational communication tool. It was developed to deliver readiness information to Marines and those who support them. This includes other service-members, civilian Marines, Family Members, and friends. Per MarAdmin 499/11, eMarine is being implemented throughout the entire Marine Corps, providing a consistent and familiar tool for you to use as you move from one unit to another. eMarine can be customized for your information needs and preferences. OPPORTUNITIES FOR E1-E6 FROM OPERATION HOMEFRONT Spruce up your space furniture give-a-way. Do you want to spruce up your space? Does your living room furniture scream "Unwanted Cast-offs" or "Seen Better Days"? If so, enter our drawing for a chance to win living room furniture for your household. Participant will be randomly selected on April 4, 2012. We have a community group that wants to assist a military family that needs some gently used furniture pieces used at a recent home expo (couch, loveseat and coffee table, additional items may be added but are not guaranteed). This program is restricted to military families within San Diego County and within a 1 hour driving distance from Coronado who are active duty, activated Reserve or Title 10 activated Guard in pay grades E1-E6. Entries will be accepted until March 16, 2012 at 12:00 pm. You will be contacted via email by April 6, 2012 only if you are selected to receive the furniture. Furniture Giveaway will take place on April 20 and you must be available that day if you are chosen. Please do not enter if you are not available on that day.
