Press Release 2011 Peace and Cooperation School Award Peace and Reconciliation
On 27th of Februrary at 9 am in the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja capital of Nigeria the celebration of the Award Ceremony for the School Award 2011 of the Foundation Peace and Cooperation took place. The Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Minister of Education Prof. Nicholas Damachi and the Ambassador of Nigeria in Spain H.E. Mr. Obed Wadzani and the Ambassador of Spain in Nigeria H.E. Mr. lvaro Castillo Aguilar the last one represented by the attach Ignacio Garrido. Following a speech by Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Minister of Education and the Founder and President of Peace and Cooperation the celebration began. Nigerian students dressed in their colourful uniforms read the 30 articles of the Human Rights Charter. The Award show then followed. The Ambassadors of Argentine, Cameroon, Iran, Namibia, Slovak Republic, Philippines, Turkey, Uganda, Venezuela and diplomatic representatives of Spain, Serbia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) received the awards obtained by students and the brilliant teachers of their respective countries. The highlight of the celebration was the award for the Nigerian student Asoro Jeremiah of Benin City and the award for the University Preparatory Secondary School. As well as the readings of the articles and the presentation of various awards we were delighted to see a folk performance of music and dance performed by the Nigerian students. The event was closed by a speech of the Ambassador of Nigeria in Spain who addressed the progress of education in his country and the excellent relations of the Nigerian Embassy with the Foundation Peace and Cooperation. Joaqun Antua congratulated the winners and promoted the campaign of the School Award 2011 Sport as the key for Understanding and Peace to which he invited the Nigerian Ministry of Education to join. Help was asked of various journalists and diplomats who were present at the Ceremony by them to help promote and spread the word of the campaign.
