Memo:
The word memorandum is derived from the Middle English word 'memorandus' meaning 'to be remembered'. A memo or memorandum is a type of communication document commonly used in businesses which are sent to colleagues and co-workers in the same organization.

Business letter:
A business letter is a letter written in formal language, usually used when writing from one business organization to another, or for correspondence between such organizations and their customers, clients and other external parties. Difference between memo and business letter: Memos are informal, letters are formal. Memos are usually internal, but letters are not. Memos are short and relatively precise while letters are long. Memos are more direct than letter. .Format is different .A memo usually contains To, From, Date, and Subject while business letter contains Sender's address & contact information, Date of writing, Subject, Recipient's name, title, company, & address, Salutation/greeting, Valediction/closing and Sender's signature.
