Modal Verbs

We use Modal Verbs with other verbs. They are placed before the main verb. Modal verbs dont change form. They are the same in all the persons, in the negative and in the question forms. The main verb is in the root form and also doesnt change. must / mustnt Must is a modal verb. It comes before the main verb, which is in the root form. Example: You must eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Modal verb Main root verb

The negative form of must is must not. Example: We mustnt talk in class. The Form

We use the positive form of must to express something we obliged to do.

Example: - I must do my homework. - He must go to the doctor. Hes very sick. We use the negative form of must to forbid something. Examples: - We mustnt make any noise! - You mustnt eat a lot of sweets. Positive: I You/We/They He/She/It Negative: I You/We/They He/She/It

The Dialogue A dialogue is a conversation between 2 or more people. Example: Ali: Do you have a pen friend? Tamer: Yes, I do. Ali: Whats his name? Tamer: His name is John. Ali: Where is he from? Tamer: Hes from England. Ali: Will you invite him to visit Egypt? Tamer: Yes, I will.

The characters are on the left.

The dialogue is what Ali and Tamer say.

In this dialogue we have characters (Ali and Tamer) and the dialogue is what these characters say.
