Prayer to God Our Father

As composed by Mother Eugenia Elisabette Ravasio (Imprimatur 1988)

My Father in Heaven, how sweet it is to know that You are my Father and that I am Your child! Especially when the skies of my soul are cloudy and my cross weighs more heavily, I feel the need to repeat to You: Father, I believe in Your love for me! Yes, I believe that You are a Father to me at every moment of my life, and that I am Your child! I believe that You love me with an infinite love! I believe that You are watching over me night and day and that not a hair falls from my head without Your permission! I believe that, in Your infinite Wisdom, You know better than I what is good for me. I believe that, in Your infinite power, You can bring good even out of evil. I believe that, in Your infinite goodness, You make everything to the advantage of those who love You; even under the hands of those who strike me I kiss Your hand which heals! I believe, but increase in me faith, hope and love! Teach me always to see Your love as my guide in every event of my life. Teach me to surrender myself to You like a baby in its mothers arms. Father, You know everything, You see everything, you know me better than I know myself; You can do everything, and You love me! My Father, since it is Your wish that we should always turn to You, I come with confidence to ask You, together with Jesus and Mary... (here request the favour that you desire). For this intention, and uniting myself to their Most Sacred Hearts, I offer You all my prayers, my sacrifices and mortifications, all my Page 4 of 44

actions, and greater faithfulness to my duties. (If this prayer it to be recited as a novena, add: I promise to be more generous, especially during these nine days, in a given circumstance, to such and such a person....). Give me the light, the grace and the power of the Holy Spirit! Strengthen me in this Spirit, that I may never lose Him, never sadden Him and never allow Him to become weaker in me. My Father, I ask this in the name of Jesus, Your Son! And You, Jesus, open Your Heart and place in it my own, and, together with Marys, offer it to our divine Father! Obtain for me the grace that I need! Divine Father, call all men to Yourself. Let all the world proclaim Your fatherly goodness and Your divine mercy! Be a tender Father to me and protect me wherever I am, like the apple of Your eye. Make me always a worthy son/daughter; have mercy on me! Divine Father, sweet hope of our souls, may You be known, honoured and loved by all men! Divine Father, infinite goodness poured out on all peoples, may You be known, honoured and loved by all men! Divine Father, beneficent dew of humanity, may You be known, honoured and loved by all men!

Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Jesus said to Saint Faustina in her private visions: "Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I want the whole world to know My Infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable graces to those who trust in My Mercy...." "....When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just judge but as the Merciful Savior".

First Reflection:

Luke 3: 21-22

Now it happened that when all the people had been baptised and while Jesus after his own baptism was at prayer, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in a physical form, like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, 'You are my Son; today have I fathered you.' Let us honour the Holy Spirit and adore Him who is Love Substantial, proceeding from the Father and the Son, and uniting Them in an infinite and eternal charity. Second Reflection: Luke 1: 41-45

Now it happened that as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, 'Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? Look, the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled. Let us honour the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him in the Immaculate Conception of Mary, sanctifying her, from the first moment with the plentitude of grace. Third Reflection: Luke 1: 34-35

Mary said to the angel, 'But how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?' The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. Let us honour the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him as His power came upon the Virgin Mary in the Incarnation of the Word, the Son of God by His Divine nature, and the Son of the Virgin by the flesh. Page 12 of 44

Fourth Reflection:

Acts 2:1-4

When Pentecost day came round, they had all met together, when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves. Let us honour the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him giving birth to the Church on the glorious day of Pentecost in the Cenacle. Fifth Reflection: John 14:15-17

If you love me you will keep my commandments. I shall ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you know him, because he is with you, he is in you. Let us honour the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him dwelling in the Church and assisting her faithfully according to the Divine promise, even to the end of the world. Sixth Reflection: John 20: 19-23

In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, 'Peace be with you,' and, after saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord, and he said to them again, 'Peace be with you. 'As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.' After saying this he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven; if you retain anyone's sins, they are retained. Page 13 of 44

Let us honour the wonderful operation of the Holy Spirit creating within the Church that other Christ, the Priest, and conferring the plentitude of the priesthood on the bishops. Seventh Reflection: 1 Corinthians 12: 7-10

The particular manifestation of the Spirit granted to each one is to be used for the general good. To one is given from the Spirit the gift of utterance expressing wisdom; to another the gift of utterance expressing knowledge, in accordance with the same Spirit; to another, faith, from the same Spirit; and to another, the gifts of healing, through this one Spirit; to another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the power of distinguishing spirits; to one, the gift of different tongues and to another, the interpretation of tongues. But at work in all these is one and the same Spirit, distributing them at will to each individual. Let us honour the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him in the heroic virtue of the saints in the Church, that hidden and marvellous work of the Adorable Sanctifier.

Scriptural Way of the Cross

As celebrated by Blessed Pope John Paul II on Good Friday 1991.

The presiding minister may be a priest, deacon, or layperson. This minister prays the opening and closing prayers, leads the acclamation, announces the stations, and says the prayer that concludes each station. One or more readers may read the Scriptural reflections. A period of silence should be observed between the Scripture reading and the prayer. A cross bearer accompanied by two candle bearers may stand in front of each station as it is announced. As the cross- and candle bearers move between the stations, all may sing a verse of the Stabat Mater (At the Cross Her Station Keeping - traditional) or an appropriate antiphon, such as Parce Domine (traditional, various settings) or Crucem Tuam (Berthier, GIA).

Opening Prayer: Minister: God of power and mercy, in love your sent your Son that we might be cleansed of sin and live with you forever. Bless us as we gather to reflect on his suffering and death that we may learn from his example the way we should go. We ask this through that same Christ, our Lord. All: Amen.

First Station: Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." He took along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to feel sorrow and distress. Then he said to them, "My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me." He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will." When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, "So you could not keep watch with me for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 25:36-41 Minister: Lord, grant us your strength and wisdom, that we may seek to follow your will in all things All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. O thou Mother! fount of love! Touch my spirit from above, make my heart with thine accord:

Second Station: Jesus, Betrayed by Judas, is Arrested

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: Then, while [Jesus] was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs, who had come from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders. His betrayer had arranged a signal with them, saying, "the man I shall kiss is the one; arrest him and lead him away securely." He came and immediately went over to him and said, "Rabbi." And he kissed him. At this they laid hands on him and arrested him. Mark 14: 43-46 Minister: Lord, grant us the courage of our convictions that our lives may faithfully reflect the good news you bring. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. O how sad and sore distressed was that Mother, highly blest, of the sole-begotten One.

Third Station: Jesus is Condemned by the Sanhedrin

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: When day came the council of elders of the people met, both chief priests and scribes, and they brought him before their Sanhedrin. They said, "If you are the Messiah, tell us," but he replied to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe, and if I question, you will not respond. But from this time on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God." They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He replied to them, "You say that I am." Then they said, "What further need have we for testimony? We have heard it from his own mouth." Luke 22: 66-71 Minister: Lord, grant us your sense of righteousness that we may never cease to work to bring about the justice of the kingdom that you promised. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Can the human heart refrain from partaking in her pain, in that Mother's pain untold?

Fourth Station: Jesus is Denied by Peter

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. One of the maids came over to him and said, "You too were with Jesus the Galilean." But he denied it in front of everyone, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about!" As he went out to the gate, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene." Again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man!" A little later the bystanders came over and said to Peter, "Surely you too are one of them; even your speech gives you away." At that he began to curse and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately a cock crowed. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: "Before the cock crows you will deny me three times." He went out and began to weep bitterly. Matthew 26: 69-75 Minister: Lord, grant us the gift of honesty that we may not fear to speak the truth even when difficult. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Let me, to my latest breath, in my body bear the death of that dying Son of thine.

Fifth Station: Jesus is Judged by Pilate

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: The chief priests with the elders and the scribes, that is, the whole Sanhedrin, held a council. They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate. Pilate questioned him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" He said to him in reply, "You say so." The chief priests accused him of many things. Again Pilate questioned him, "Have you no answer? See how many things they accuse you of." Jesus gave him no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.... Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabas... [and] handed [Jesus] over to be crucified. Mark 15: 1-5, 15 Minister: Lord, grant us discernment that we may see as you see, not as the world sees. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps.

Through her heart, His sorrow sharing, all His bitter anguish bearing, now at length the sword has passed.

Sixth Station: Jesus is Scourged and Crowned with Thorns

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. And the soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head, and clothed him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck him repeatedly. John 19: 1-3 Minister: Lord, grant us patience in times of suffering that we may offer our lives as a sacrifice of praise. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. For the sins of His own nation, She saw Jesus wracked with torment, All with scourges rent:

Seventh Station: Jesus Bears the Cross

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: When the chief priests and the guards saw [Jesus] they cried out, "Crucify him, crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves and crucify him. I find no guilt in him." ... They cried out, "Take him away, take him away! Crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your king?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, and carrying the cross himself he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha. John 19: 6, 15-17 Minister: Lord, grant us strength of purpose that we may faithfully bear our crosses each day. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. By the Cross with thee to stay, there with thee to weep and pray, is all I ask of thee to give.

Eighth Station: Jesus is Helped by Simon the Cyrene to Carry the Cross
Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: They pressed into service a passer-by, Simon, a Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. Make me feel as thou hast felt; make my soul to glow and melt with the love of Christ my Lord.

Ninth Station: Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: A large crowd of people followed Jesus, including many women who mourned and lamented him. Jesus turned to them and said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the days are coming when people will say, Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.' At that time, people will say to the mountains, Fall upon us!' and to the hills, Cover us!' for if these things are done when the wood is green what will happen when it is dry?" Luke 23: 27-31 Minister: Lord, grant us gentle spirits that we may comfort those who mourn. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Is there one who would not weep, whelmed in miseries so deep, Christ's dear Mother to behold?

Tenth Station: Jesus is Crucified

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him and the criminals there, one on his right, the other on his left. [Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do."] Luke 23: 33-34 Minister: Lord, grant us merciful hearts that we may bring your reconciliation and forgiveness to all. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Holy Mother! pierce me through, in my heart each wound renew of my Savior crucified:

Eleventh Station: Jesus Promises His Kingdom to the Good Thief

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: Now one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying, "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us." The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply, "Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation? And indeed, we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing criminal." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." He replied to him, "Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." Luke 23: 39-43 Minister: Lord, grant us perseverance that we may never stop seeking you. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Christ above in torment hangs, she beneath beholds the pangs of her dying glorious Son.

Twelfth Station: Jesus Speaks to His Mother and the Disciple

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. John 19: 25-27 Minister: Lord, grant us constancy that we may be willing to stand by those in need. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Let me mingle tears with thee, mourning Him who mourned for me, all the days that I may live:

Thirteenth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: It was now about noon and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon because of an eclipse of the sun. Then the veil of the temple was torn down the middle. Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit"; and when he had said this he breathed his last. Luke 23: 44-46 Minister: Lord, grant us trust in you that when our time on earth is ended our spirits may come to you without delay. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. Let me share with thee His pain, who for all my sins was slain, who for me in torments died.

Fourteenth Station: Jesus is Placed in the Tomb

Minister: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. All: Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Reader: When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph, who was himself a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus; then Pilate ordered it to be handed over. Taking the body, Joseph wrapped it [in] clean linen and laid it in his new tomb that he had hewn in the rock. Then he rolled a huge stone across the entrance to the tomb and departed. Matthew 27: 57-60 Minister: Lord, grant us your compassion that we may always provide for those in need. All: Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. She beheld her tender Child, Saw Him hang in desolation, Till His spirit forth He sent.

Closing Prayer: Minister: Lord Jesus Christ, your passion and death is the sacrifice that unites earth and heaven and reconciles all people to you. May we who have faithfully reflected on these mysteries follow in your steps and so come to share your glory in heaven where you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit one God, forever and ever. All: Amen.

Common Prayers
Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Our Father Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Page 43 of 44

Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory Be Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Fatima's Prayer O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy. Hail Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen
