by: Mlle A Carter Overview and Purpose: Students will work on tablets using the lino It iPad /iPod /iPhone application to share drug facts with their peers. Students will search for drug facts on the interactive websites and work books provided to develop online communication and social skills related to drugs and alcohol. Research and Information Fluency b. Teacher will demonstrate how to cite sources for the image and drug facts. Teacher will discuss with students how to identify key facts when researching information.

Verification: Steps to check for student understanding 1. Each student will have posted 5 drug facts on the Lino It class page about the drug of their choice. 2. An image has been posted. 3. Student has shared one new thing they have learned while researching their drug. Activity: Intro: As a class, we will watch the YouTube videos found on the class Drug Facts page in Lino It to learn more about drugs. Part 1: Students will use the websites provided and their Drug Facts booklets to conduct research and learn about a drug of their choice. Drug choices: 1. Heroin 2. Cocaine 3. Methamphetamine 4. Caffeine 5. LSD 6. Ecstasy 7. Opium 8. Marijuana 9. Psilocybin Mushrooms 10. PCP 11. Narcotics and cannabinoids 12. etc. Part 2: With their reading and research, students will post a minimum of 5 facts and an image of their drug on the class Lino It page. Part 3: Students will share what they have done during this exercise. Homework: Students will complete this exercise and insure that they have shared their sources. Notes Students will have created their Lino It accounts in the previous class. However, allow time for students who were absent, to create their account. Answer or respond to any trouble shooting questions students may have after having some time to play around with Lino It at home.

*Final evaluation for this unit: -Students will share their learning of this unit by putting together a drug commercial explaining to the other students why one would chose not to take illegal drugs. - Students will demonstrate personal strategies to deal effectively with the social inuences that contribute to the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (e.g., cannabis) by posting these on the Lino it lesson page.
