AIRE-O2 Microfloat DAF Case Study


Cargill Meats Thailand Cargill Meats Korat Plant in Thailand is a chicken processing facility. The DAF system installed at the plant receives wastewater generated by the boiling and frying processes. The plant had an existing circular concrete tank that they wanted to use for the DAF system. Aeration Industries retrofitted the existing basin to incorporate all of the internals for a standard AIRE-O2 Microfloat DAF system. The current design incorporates two (2) Microfloat Aerators. In the future, the design flow and load through the DAF is expected to double. When this occurs, the plant will simply add two (2) additional Microfloat Aerators to handle the additional capacity. Currently the plant is in operation 24 hours/day with an equalization tank ahead of the DAF to even out the flow through the treatment system. The plant is feeding approximately 25 ppm of PAC and 2 ppm of Cationic Polymer for chemical conditioning to insure high removal efficiency Process: Chicken Processing Flow: Present Avg. = 264,172 gpd (1,000 m3/day) Equipment: 20 (6.1m) diameter AIRE-O2 Microfloat DAF System retrofitted into existing circular concrete tank

Jones Dairy Wisconsin, USA Jones Dairy is a sausage processor in Wisconsin. The company was faced with rapidly rising surcharges from the local municipal wastewater treatment plant that received the companys wastewater. The company had an existing rectangular conventional DAF system but the system was not performing very well. The company retrofitted the existing DAF tank to add two (2) AIRE-O2 Microfloat Aerators. In doing so, Jones Dairy was able to more than double their removal rates of suspended solids and fats, oils, and grease, thereby significantly reducing the monthly surcharges from the local municipality. Process: Sausage Processing Flow: Present Avg. = 175,000 gpd (662 m3/day) Equipment: 30 wide x 55 long x 7 deep rectangular conventional DAF system retrofitted with two (2) AIRE-O2 Microfloat Aerators

Superstar Coconut Products Co., Inc. Philippines Superstar Coconut Products Co., Inc. is a desiccated coconut plant. Its wastewater contains high BOD and FOG which needs a comprehensive treatment system. The existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) utilizes a straight activated sludge treatment process without an oil removal system. This was enhanced by installing 2 AIRE-O2 Microfloat DAF systems units operating in series to provide maximum recovery of oil from the wastewater & produce a valuable by-product for the plant. Process: Desiccated Coconut Processing Flow: Design= 158,503 gpd (600 m3/day) Equipment: (2) 20 (6.1m) diameter AIRE-O2 Microfloat DAF Systems operating in series and retrofitted into existing steel tanks

Tony Dairy Ecuador Tony Dairy is a food processor in Ecuador that manufactures dairy products such as ice cream, yogurt, etc. They installed a Microfloat DAF system for removal of FOG, TSS, and BOD from the plants process wastewater. The tankage and internals were supplied in 304 SS to preserve the quality of the float produced by the Microfloat DAF which the plant can recover as a valuable by-product. They are adding no chemicals to facilitate removal and are achieving in excess of 87% TSS removal and 92% FOG removal.
