Stage 1: Desired Results

Teachers will be able to: Create additional resources for their classrooms using Web 2.0 tools. Create, edit and share presentations through Web 2.0 tools. Collaborate with peers using Web 2.0 tools. Use Voice Threads and other forms of videos to support learning.

Essential Questions:

Teachers will understand that: Wordles can be used to present new vocabulary key terms, an avatar can be used to introduce a lesson, and a voice thread can enhance a lesson and also provide assistance with out of school work. Technology can be incorporated into any existing lesson. Web 2.0 tools are created especially for educators. How can I use technology in my classroom? How will the use of Web 2.0 tools help my students learn the standard? How will incorporating Web 2.o tools help me in saving time?

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge: Teachers will know: Web 2.0 tools are easy to use and can be easily incorporated into lessons. Web 2.0 tools are convenient and are good for educational use. Wordle can be used to introduce new vocabulary terms. Voki can be used to create avatars for introducing new units or lessons. Voice Thread can be used to accentuate a current lesson and can be used to assist with off-site work. A Screen Cast can be used to instruct students as a step by step guide.

Skills: Teachers will be able to: Collaborate and communicate with peers using Web 2.0 tools. Recognize that the use of Web 2.0 tools are easy.

Stage 2 Assessment Evidence

Performance Task(s) Design in GRASPS: Goal: You will use a combination of Web 2.0 tools to create vocabulary lists of terms, introduce new standards, and to deliver lessons. Role: Teacher using technology in the classroom. Audience: Ninth Twelfth grade ELA Teachers. Situation: You will be challenged to create Web 2.0 tools by developing technological enhancements that will be infused in your lessons. Product Performance and Purpose: Your products will be added and will be bookmarked to your favorites for easy access. Standards and Criteria for Success: Successful creation and implementation of various Web 2.0 tools. Resources teacher will use: Web sites Types of Instruction/Activities: Direct Instruction Modeling and Guided Practice Independent Practice Sharing and Reflecting

Stage 3: Learning Plan

Opening Session: The Hook and Introduction to the Lesson (5 Minutes) Teacher-Librarian will introduce the lesson by showing an introduction to the staff development lesson using a Voki (Avatar) Teacher-Librarian will begin the lesson by explaining that there are many Web 2.0 tools. A list of various Web 2.0 tools will be provided as a resource to the teachers. The Teacher-Librarian will introduce four Web 2.0 tools and will show examples of each.

Work Session: Lesson: Teacher-Librarian will introduce four Web 2.0 tools. Example will be shown of each of the four Web 2.0 tools. Teacher-Librarian will sign on and show how each of these four Web 2.0 tools can be used to enhance lessons. Guided Practice: Teachers will use the laptops in the mobile cart to create accounts for the various Web 2.0 tools. Teachers will begin creating products to use. Teacher/Librarian will assist with the teachers and will answer questions and will also walk the room for assistance. Closing Session: (10 Minutes) Sharing and Evaluation: Teachers will share with the group a Web 2.0 tool that they created. Teachers will ask questions they may have. Teachers will share 2 things that they learned in the lesson. Teacher-Librarian will continue to support the teachers with follow up emails.
