March 15, 2012 Attn: Local Napa Valley Newspapers 2012 April Fools Press Release. The 7th annual April Fools Bicycle Challenge is just around the corner. The April Fools Bicycle Challenge is a month long cycling event aimed at getting people on their bikes enjoying the beautiful spring weather. We support all types of cycling including children and stationary bikes. Even miles on your unicycle count. And as always this is a free event to participants. Exciting news this year is that a 3rd city has joined in on the fun Napa. This is due to the wonderful nonprofit Napa County Bike Coalition (aka Napa Bike). As in years past, in addition to getting more folks riding their bikes, we also use this energy to raise money for great local charities. Over the past 5 years April Fools has raised in excess of $40,000 for the 2 marvelous Upper Valley family centers. As always riders in Calistoga will be raising money for Calistoga Family Center. Those in St. Helena will be raising money for St. Helena Family Center. In Napa theres a bit of a twist in terms of raising money. The Board of Napa Bike has agreed to split the proceeds with Cope Family Center, continuing the tradition of local cyclist raising money for great local family centers. So Napa riders will be supporting 2 great local charities. Riders get their friends, family, and coworkers to offer pledges. Community members, service organizations, and local businesses also offer pledges. Some of the local Calistoga businesses already supporting this event are Calistoga Bikeshop, St. Helena Cyclery, Sportago, Missing Link Networks, and Wellspring P.T. Anyone interested in supporting this event can send email to admin@bikingfools.org or visit the bikingfools.org website. You can also make a donation directly on the bikingfools.org website by going to the Donate Now page. The donations are through the secure Paypal system and all monies go directly to the charities associated with each city. We welcome pledges of any amount. If you want to ride in the April Fools Challenge simply go to www.bikingfools.org and register today.
