1. OnGuard 2008 Plus, 6.1

This document provides an overview of the features, enhancements and changes available in this release. Installation instructions are available in Acrobat format on this disc in the...\Program Files\OnGuard\doc\ folder. OnGuard 2008 Plus 6.1 from this point forward will be referred to as OnGuard 2008 Plus. Lenel Learning Solutions provides instructor-led web based Global Distance Learning for more in depth knowledge on these new features in OnGuard 2008 Plus. The training is available for Value Added Resellers (VARs), Certified OnGuard System Users, and OnGuard System User Administrators. Please visit the Lenel web site for more details and schedules: https://customer.lenel.com/?q=lls/distance-learning. 1.1. Upgrades Direct upgrades of the OnGuard software are supported for two major releases prior to the current release. For versions older than that, an incremental upgrade will need to be performed. For 6.1, this means that a 5.11 system would need to be upgraded to 5.12.012 first; systems 5.12 and newer can upgrade directly. 1.1.1. Full Download Required for Enterprise Systems after Upgrade After upgrading to OnGuard 2008 Plus, Enterprise systems must perform a full download. 1.1.2. Upgrade Requirement for Enterprise Customers Using Visitor Management Due to the complex architectural changes in Enterprise, customers using Visitor Management in an Enterprise environment must archive all signed-out visits at each Region prior to performing the upgrade. In addition, all visits on the Master Server should also be archived. Failure to perform the archiving may result in incorrect sign out times being replicated to the Regional servers. 1.1.3. Oracle Regions with Many Custom Event Parameters

and Events May

Experience Long Database Setup Run Time

During an upgrade of a system running Oracle with thousands of Custom Event parameters and millions of events, regions may take an extended amount of time to run Database Setup. The amount of time required to upgrade may exceed a day (24 hours).

3. New Features
3.1.

General 3.1.1. System Management Console

The System Management Console is a utility that provides system information and access to log files that can be used to aid in troubleshooting system issues.

3.1.2. Software Activation Based Licensing OnGuard now supports the option of a software license, which works without the need for a hardware dongle. When using a software license you are able to use License Administration to activate, return, or repair your license. Software licenses can only be used on a physical computer or in a VMware virtual environment. Hardware dongle licensing is still available for customers that prefer to use it. 3.1.3. Customer Feedback Tool This menu item available in several OnGuard 2008 Plus applications launches a web feedback form that allows the user to send feedback directly to Lenel. 3.1.4. Reporting Enhancements and Email In the Schedule Report window in System Administration you can now email reports or configure default printers. 3.2.

Access Control 3.2.1. Cardholder Photo Verification

Cardholder verification is the process of viewing a cardholders photo live (as the cardholder is badging through a reader). When a cardholder swipes a badge through a reader, that users photo is displayed in the Cardholder Verification Configuration window. You can use cardholder verification to compare the cardholders photo to that of the person using the reader. 3.2.2. Support for Bosch D7412GV2/D9412GV2 New firmware for the D7412GV2/D9412GV2 Intrusion Panel and for the DX4010/DX4020 Interface Modules allows communication with OnGuard 5.11.216 or later either serially or over Ethernet. Bosch version 7.07 firmware for the D7412GV2/D9412GV2 Intrusion Panel has been tested and found to communicate properly to the aforementioned versions of OnGuard. Earlier versions of the D7412GV2/D9412GV2 firmware are not supported. To use version 7.07 firmware, it is also required that you use the following: Version 5.7 of the Bosch RPS Software V1.04 firmware on the D1260 keypads Version 2.23 or later on the DX4020 Network Interface Module / DX4010 Serial Interface Module. To ensure reliable communications, the following lines should be added to the [Radionics] section of the ACS.INI file of the computer(s) running the Lenel Communication Server application: [Radionics] LanTimeoutseconds=4 ReadTotalTimeoutConstant=4000 3.2.3. HID Edge Reader Integration HID Edge Reader can now be configured in the Access Panels folder. The HID Edge Reader is a device that houses both a controller and reader. The EdgePlus has the option of connecting to an iCLASS reader/writer, LCD keypad, or biometric reader devices. Since it doesnt require a physical connection to a separate controller, the device can connect to the host on an IP network. With built-in 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), it does not require a separate power supply. 3.2.4. Onity CT Offline Locks Integration OnGuard allows you to configure a system using Onity CT locks (commonly referred to in OnGuard as doors) and the Onity XPP portable programmer. In an Onity configuration OnGuard acts as a front end to the Onity data which is transferred between OnGuard and the Onity locks via the XPP portable programmer. 3.2.5. Alarm Functionality Improvements Phase III A new type of Mask Group concept has been added to OnGuard which is now called Intrusion Mask Groups. You can now configure intrusion points to belong to an intrusion mask group. Once intrusion

points are assigned to an intrusion mask group it is monitored by the intelligent system controller to determine the current state of the intrusion mask group. Alarms are reported for the intrusion mask group by the intelligent system controller based on the current arming mode and state of the intrusion mask group. 3.2.6. Add Full FASC-N to FASC-N Import from PIV/TWIC Cards Full FASC-N (Hexadecimal) is now provided in the FASC-N drop-down allowing you to map and import the full FASC-N data contained on TWIC and PIV cards. The full FASC-N is a 50-character, hexadecimal string that represents the 25 packed bytes of data used for the entire FASC-N. This value is represented in the same format as the information in the TWIC Revocation Hot List making it possible to export the full FASC-N or use it for external comparison. 3.2.7. Support for JIS II Magnetic Encoding Data may now be directly encoded onto a JIS II magnetic stripe using JIS II-capable Fargo printers including the Persona C30, Persona M30, DTC400, DTC550, HDP600, and HDP5000. 3.2.8. Relaxed Door Forced Timing to Added to Reader Form This is an option that when selected allows for a small window of time in which a door can remain open without triggering an alarm. 3.2.9. Support for Alarm Shunt Added to Readers This option is for use with systems that employ a secondary, non-Lenel, alarm system. When selected this option will, when a cardholder presents a valid badge to a reader, disable the secondary alarm system. 3.2.10. Support for Visonic Smoke Transmitter The Visonic Smoke Transmitter MCT-425S is now supported. 3.3.

MCT-425S

Identity Management 3.3.1. Badge Import (Prox) Phase II

Automatically sign in a visitor by presenting an existing HID proximity visitor card to an OMNIKEY 5125 reader (LNL-5125). The badge ID from the card is then automatically imported into the visitors record and the visitor is automatically signed in. 3.3.2. OmniKey 5125 Wedge Reader Support (Prox) To enable the automatic visitor sign in and sign out features, an OMNIKEY 5125 reader (LNL-5125) must be attached to the workstation. For information on installing this reader, refer to the OEM Device Configuration Guide. You no longer need to manually search for active visitors and sign them out. Instead, visitors can be automatically signed out using their access control badges (HID proximity). When a visitor badge is returned and presented to the OMNIKEY 5125 (LNL-5125) reader attached to the workstation, the visitor is automatically signed out and ALL badges assigned to the visitor are deactivated regardless of the badge presented. 3.4.

New option under Status Search in System Administration that allows users of Visitor Management to filter certain visitors out of their view. Users can configure a time (defaulted at 90 days) that would automatically remove a successful transaction after the period of specified days is reached. On the Visits > Status Search Form, the new Show visits from drop-down allows you to select a server node (Regional or Master) or a mobile station from which to display visits or use the "<All Regions\Mobiles>" option to display visits from all server nodes and mobile stations.

4. Known Issues/Updates

4.1.

General 4.1.1. Sentinel System Driver

This driver is used to recognize the USB or parallel hardware key (commonly referred to as a dongle). The old 5.39.2 version of the SafeNet driver will be installed automatically. The user must get the newer 7.4.0 version from the Supplemental disc if they are using a USB dongle. The Sentinel System Drivers are located on the Supplemental disc in the License Key Drivers\SafeNet folder. Perform a custom installation of the SafeNet driver. In the Custom Setup window, select the USB and Parallel drivers for installation and deselect the Sentinel Protection Server and Sentinel Keys Server. 4.1.2. Temporary Files Remain After Installation Has Completed Some components needed by OnGuard may leave temporary files on the system root drive after the installation. More information can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950683. 4.1.3. Oracle Systems Need to be Set Up to Use Windows Authentication by Default Oracle systems need to be setup to use Windows Authentication by default. After an upgrade, Windows authentication to the database is assumed for all database setup and browser-based applications. Therefore, if the user does not have Windows Authentication setup, it will need to be configured. If the user does not want to use Windows Authentication, the Username/Password can be used instead. This will need to be changed via the ConnectionString file setting in the application.config file AND the password will now be in plain text. This also applies to SQL Server systems utilizing the browser-based applications. 4.1.4. World Time Zone Default Data Updated World time zone default data has been updated according to the changes noted on Microsofts web site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933360/ 4.1.5. Web Application Server Not Supported with Windows Vista The Web Application Server (LS Application Server service) is not supported with Windows Vista. The Web Application Server can only be installed using a custom installation; it is not installed by default. If the service is installed on Windows Vista, you may experience problems when attempting to repair or uninstall OnGuard. 4.1.6. Browser-based Application Security If using the browser-based applications, we highly recommend using Windows authentication to control access to the LDVR and LNVR video servers. If using browser-based applications, disable parent paths for the web server for heightened security. 4.1.7. Windows Authentication

with Crystal Reports for Browser-based

Applications
An additional step is required for configuring Windows authentication with Crystal Reports for browserbased applications. 1. Navigate to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\lnl.og.webservice and edit the Web.config file. 2. Add the following line underneath <system.web>: <identity impersonate="true" /> 3. Save and exit the file. 4.1.8. Database Setup: Compare Database Schema Task

Returns Modify Needed

Issues
When Database Setup is used to run the Compare Database Schema task on a Microsoft SQL Server system, modify-needed items may be reported for issues that differ by an ending decimal point. These issues can be ignored. 4.1.9. Column Heading Tooltips Disabled

for Windows XP

Tooltips are not available for column headings in OnGuard running on Windows XP. 4.1.10. Windows Vista: Windows Security Utility

Must be Run Manually for Public

Profile
If the Public Network profile of the Windows firewall is used in Windows Vista, the Windows Security Utility must be run again once the profile is active. The Public profile is not updated during the initial run of the Windows Security Utility. 4.1.11. Windows Vista: Acs.ini File Cannot be Edited

by Administrator Group

Member
By default, the Windows Vista Admin account does not have permission to save the acs.ini file. To work around this issue, add the Admin user to the acs.ini file security settings and allow full control. 4.1.12. Error 1905.

Module C:\Program Files\OnGuard\msvbvm50.dll Failed to

Unregister
This error may occur when upgrading to OnGuard 2008 Plus on Windows Vista. This error can be safely ignored with no side effects to the installation. 4.1.13. UDF List Filtering does not Work Correctly

When Cardholder Segmentation

is Enabled
Filtering of List Builder drop-downs and segmentation enforcement of Cardholder/Visitor to List Build relationships does not work when List Builder segmentation is enabled with either Cardholder or Visitor segmentation enabled. 4.1.14. FormsDesigner Field Style Border and Inside Edge not Functioning Properly In order to support recently introduced changes to the user interface, the ability to turn of a sunken edge border for a control in FormsDesigner has been disabled. 4.1.15. Segment Access

List may appear Empty when Adding a User in a Segmented

System
When adding a user to segmented system, the Segment Access tab may not display an accurate list. Modifying the user after it has been added will present the correct list of segments. 4.2.

Access Control

4.2.1. Series 2 ISC (LNL-3300, LNL-2220) Power Fail/Cabinet Tamper When Cabinet Tamper and/or Power Fail is activated (or jumpered on the board) and the panel is restarted, the status is not displayed correctly in the Hardware Tree in Alarm Monitoring. It does not indicate that cabinet tamper or a power fail is occurring. 4.2.2. Support for up to 128 Access Levels Up to 128 access levels are now supported per badge.

per Badge

4.2.3. Turnstile Reader Mode Now Supports Escort Operation Turnstile mode of reader now supports escort operation by pulsing turnstile output once for each escortee plus once for the escort. Previous firmware would only generate 1 pulse for the group. 4.2.4. OSDP Reader Tamper Switch Monitoring Now Supported The Tamper Switch status is now reported for OSDP readers providing this signal. 4.2.5. Support for Magnetic and Wiegand Card Formats on the Same Reader Support has been added to handle cases that have magnetic and Wiegand formats are assigned to the same reader, and Wiegand badges contain trailing zeros. Earlier versions truncated Wiegand badge data,

resulting in an "Invalid card format" error when a magnetic format was assigned to the same reader. 4.2.6. Integrated

Intrusion LCD Display of Event History Adds Spurious Event for Alarms with Door Set for Entry Delay

When utilizing the new Intrusion Mask Groups, an alarm caused by a Door Status event set for "Trigger" point mode will result in an extra event being displayed in the LCD keypad event history. The extra event will be labeled "256 TYPE ERROR" and have the same time as the door event, and can be ignored. This issue will be addressed in a future firmware version. 4.2.7. Reader Alarm Shunt Not Supported with LNL-2220 in Paired Mode The Alarm Shunt feature does not operate on paired (Master/Slave) readers. It will operate properly with single readers and on primary/alternate readers. 4.3.

Identity Management

4.3.1. Change in 10 Print Slap Record Format The 10 Print Slap capture and license have been renamed OpenCapture. Sagem-Morpho templates are now captured for use with Lenel bioCLASS readers. 10 Print Slap records are now stored in an optimized format in the database. The record only allocates the amount of space necessary for the fingerprint; the record is optimized so that it does not save space for all fingerprints if only one is captured. Any existing 10 Print Slap records must be deleted and re-captured following the upgrade to OnGuard 2008 Plus in order to maintain use of this feature. If existing 10 Print Slap records are not re-captured, Database Setup may fail, and a database error will be received when viewing a cardholder record that has not been updated. 4.3.2. Badge Design

Programming with List Builder Lists Will Not Function in BadgeDesigner After Upgrade to OnGuard 2008 Plus

Any badge layout programming configured in BadgeDesigner that uses controlling fields with List Builder lists will not function after an upgrade to OnGuard 2008 Plus. This may cause the badge design for newly printed badges that use any UDF drop-down fields configured with List Builder to be incorrect. To work around this issue, edit each badge design that uses programming and reselect the Controlling field from the drop-down. 4.3.3. Shared Card Printer

May Be Unknown in Default Printer for Badge Type Drop-down Client Workstations

When printing to a shared card printer, the name may appear as an "Unknown printer" in the Default Printer for badge type drop-down on client machines. To work around this problem, select the "Alternate Printer" and then select a valid printer. 4.3.4. HID Corporate 1000 Not Supported on Edge Devices in OnGuard 2008 Plus OnGuard 2008 Plus does not currently support special parity calculations for HID panels (EdgeReader/EdgePlus). As a result, HID Corporate 1000 badges do not work with Edge devices in this release. 4.4.

Visitor Management 4.4.1. Visitor Management Host Not Supported with Windows Server 2003

Due to the default IE security settings preventing the use of Flash, the Visitor Management Host is not supported on Windows Server 2003. 4.4.2. Visitor Management Emails Not Sent if User

Name and Password Fields

Configured in GOS Folder

Visitor Management notification emails will not be sent if the User name and Password fields are configured in the GOS folder. When configuring email notifications for visits, these fields should be left blank.

4.4.3. Cardholders

with Access to One Segment may not use List Builder Items from Another Segment

Users should not be modified to change segment access from All Segments to a single segment when using segmented lists. A cardholder logged in to the Visitor Management Host in one segment may not use List Builder items from different segments. 4.4.4. Visitor Management Host Transaction Time Stamp Visitor Management Host transactions appearing in the logs are based on the time at the server, and not the clients time zone. 4.4.5. Visit Notification Fields Used for Email Visitor Management Host does not use Visit Notification Fields from the Cardholder Options in System Administration when sending email. 4.4.6. Case Sensitive Single Sign-on The URL for single sign-on is case-sensitive, i.e. ?useAutomaticSSO=true must be exactly used. 4.4.7. LS Application Server Service Error An Error consuming service failure of Visitor Management Host will result if the LS Application Server Service is either running as a user without access to the OnGuard database or not running at all. 4.4.8. Add/View Visit Permissions Error An Error consuming service failure of Visitor Management Host will result when trying to save a visit if the user lacks permission (i.e. in Cardholder Permission Groups) to add a visit or lacks permission to view visitors. 4.4.9. Visit Event Permissions Error An Error consuming service failure of Visitor Management Host will result when trying to save a visit event if the user does not have permission (i.e. in Cardholder Permission Groups) to view visits. 4.4.10. Adobe Flash Player Installation If a blank blue screen with the window title Flash Player Installation is displayed, it is an indication that Adobe Flash Player needs to be installed. Flash Player is available on the Supplemental Materials disc. 4.4.11. Maximum Characters for a Visit Event Name If you type in a visit event name greater than 128 characters in Visitor Management Host, the visit will not be scheduled. 4.4.12. Supported Date Format Short date, no time (seen in FormsDesigner) is the only date format supported for date fields in Visitor Management Host. 4.4.13. Propagation of User Defined Field Permission Changes If you change permissions for accessing user-defined fields, restart the LS Application Server Service for the change to be propagated Visitor Management Host. 4.4.14. Visitor Management Client Based

and Visitor Management Browser-based

Workaround
In Visitor Management Host, once a visit or visitor is added with a blank drop-down list value, it cannot be modified to have a value using Visitor Management Host (Browser-based). A workaround is to modify the value in System Administration or Visitor Management. 4.5.

Digital Video

4.5.1. Warning Security! In order to facilitate equipment installation and be adaptable to existing corporate security policies, LDVR and LNVR video servers are shipped and/or configured by default with no security policies. Once a system is going into production, Lenel recommends that security on these servers should be locked down by your system administrator so that only users with valid NT accounts have access to video. With the introduction of the browser-based applications, the ability to access video servers is made much easier and therefore, using NT authentication to deny access to these servers is highly recommended and necessary for a responsible deployment. 4.5.2. Separation

of the Compression Type from the Camera Type in the Camera Configuration

The compression type is now listed independently from the camera type during camera configuration. The compression type is configured in the Codec field on the Camera form in System Administration. This enhancement was made to shorten the list of camera types for easier camera configuration. 4.5.3. Launch Video on Restored Alarm Begins Video Clip with Active Alarm Time When video is launched from the restored alarm in Alarm Monitoring, the recorded video clip will now begin with the time of the active alarm. 4.5.4. Support for Camera-to-Camera Device Camera Links Cameras can now be associated with other cameras on the Device-Camera Link form. 4.5.5. IntelligentVideo Database Upgrade Utility The IntelligentVideo Database Upgrade Utility is used to update IntelligentVideo event configurations to OnGuard 2008 Plus. This utility is found in the Digital Video folder on the Supplemental Materials disc, and should be run on the OnGuard database server as a final upgrade step. 4.5.6. IntelligentVideo: Perspective Correction for Size Property Acts as a Parameter The Perspective Correction for Size feature is supported with the Object Detection, Object Left Behind, Object Removed, Loitering, and Object Lurking events. When using this feature, it must be set exactly the same on each supported event configured on a given channel. The OnGuard 2008 Plus documentation states that the first configured Perspective Correction for Size setting will be used across the channel, however this is incorrect. To properly configure this feature, the Perspective Correction for Size setting must be copied to each additional event configured on the channel using the following steps: 1. Configure Perspective Correction for Size on the first event on a channel. 2. Right-click the Configuration pane and select Copy configuration. 3. In the Copy Event Configuration window, deselect the any other available properties such that Perspective Correction for Size is the only property highlighted. 4. Click [OK]. 5. Close the event configuration. 6. Add the next event in the IntelligentVideo Events form and launch the Event Configuration/Search dialog. 7. Right-click the Configuration pane and select Paste configuration. 8. Continue configuring the event. 9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 for each additional event on the channel. 4.5.7. IntelligentVideo

Events Allow Region of Interest that Extends Past the Image

Boundaries
The user interface allows a region of interest to be configured that extends outside of the image area with the Object Crosses a Region and People Counting events. This configuration is not supported and may cause the event not to function properly. 4.5.8. NAS Compatibility Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices are supported by LNVR. Not all devices work the same. As with

any storage device responsible for recording continuous streams of data, the continuous uninterrupted read/write rates for the unit must be in line with the expected incoming/outgoing data streams. 4.5.9. Device Discovery Console Cannot Find Lenel Camera if Adapter

has IPv6

Address
Lenel cameras cannot be discovered if both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses are selected for an interface. The IPv6 must be removed for the Lenel cameras to be discovered. 4.5.10. Device Discovery Console Cannot Find Lenel Cameras on Windows Vista Lenel cameras with the latest firmware cannot be detected by the Device Discovery Console on systems running Windows Vista. The Device Discovery Console must be run under the Administrator account in order to discover the Lenel cameras. To run the application as administrator, right-click the application file and select Run as administrator. 4.5.11. Limited Support for IQEye Cameras with Device Discovery Console The IQEye cameras have limited functionality with the Device Discovery Console: Reboot command not supported Check default password command not supported Get version command not supported, however version number is populated during initial scan 4.5.12. Automatically

Launch Both Live and Recorded Video on Alarm May Not Be Displayed in Pairs

The default behavior with this feature is to launch recorded and live video in matrix mode. Additional configuration may be necessary if multiple cameras are linked in a video event to display the each camera channel as a pair of video cells (recorded and live). For more information, refer to the Digital Video Software User Guide. 4.5.13. Automatically Launch Both Live and Recorded Video on Alarm with LDVR For customers using LDVR (non-hybrid systems only), the PauseOnDoubleVideoOnAlarm setting in the ACS.ini file must be set to 0 on all client machines and channel pre-roll values need to be set to 15 or more seconds in order to avoid black screen issues and video not available error messages when recorded video is played back as part of double video on alarm feature. The amount of pre-roll required depends on the video resolution and bit rate that is used. The larger the size and frequency of the frames, the smaller pre-roll time can be configured. 4.5.14. Automatically

Launch Both Live and Recorded Video with Time Lapse

Limitation
When using the Automatically Launch Both Live and Recorded Video on Alarm feature, the time lapse setting must have the same value as the AlarmDurationMax value, otherwise there may be black video. 4.5.15. .Net 2.0 Required for Browser-based VideoViewer .Net 2.0 or greater must be installed on each client machine that will use the browser-based VideoViewer. 4.5.16. Viewing Video Over the World Wide Web Not Supported DCOM protocol is used to view video in OnGuard, including the browser-based applications. To view video, users must be logged into the Windows client with a Domain user with access to the video recorders. Viewing video over the web from machines that do not exist on the domain is not supported. 4.5.17. Serial and USB Joysticks Limited to First Application Used Serial joysticks such as the Panasonic 605 can only be used by one application. Typically the first application (browser-based VideoViewer or Alarm Monitoring) running will scan the ports and attempt to connect to a joystick. If the port is occupied (typically by an application that is connected and working with

the port) the port will be skipped from the scan, so the second application will not find the joystick. USB joysticks (such as the AXIS 295) will work fine with the same user trying to use the joystick from different applications. The only known limitation for the USB joysticks is that when a different user on the same machine is trying to use the joystick from a different application it will not work. 4.5.18. Buffering Streaming Video with Audio Causes Lag in Timestamp When the Buffering Streaming Video feature is activated and the video stream contains audio, the timestamp that is presented by default lags by a few seconds and the lag gradually increases. This has no effect with the video presented which is in the current live time. A workaround is to click the arrow to get to the latest minute of the buffering. To turn off the buffering of live and/or recorded video on a per workstation basis, add the following lines to the [DigitalVideo] section of the ACS.INI file: To turn off live: BufReader0=0 To turn off recorded: BufReader2=0 4.5.19. Joystick Control Difficult Due to Delays in Video PTZ may appear slow due to buffering that is included to allow better image quality. For customers that require better PTZ performance, a workaround exists that includes setting audio to off. The workaround is to update the registry [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lenel\Lnr]"LiveVideoBuffer" -> DWORD. This value, when set to 0, will speed up the live viewing for both MJPEG and MPEG4 cameras but introduces audio issues which could not be avoided for this release. 4.5.20. Background PTZ Tour Interruption May Not Succeed If a background PTZ tour is interrupted by the user that started it, the tour may fail to stop and control may not become available to the user. 4.5.21. LNVR with Oracle Express: Windows Security

Utility Must be Run

Manually After Configuration is Complete

The installation of LNVR with an Oracle Express database requires a reboot once the firmware is installed, and configuration must be completed after the system reboots. The Windows Security Utility runs prior to the reboot, however not all of the items necessary are completed at that time. After configuration is complete, the Windows Security Utility must be run again. 4.5.22. Video May Freeze When Failover Occurs When an LNVR enters failover mode, the video playing on any client may stop or go into a small 1 second loop. Closing the video and reopening it will display live video. 4.5.23. Windows Vista Server:

LDVR Recorders Cannot be Automatically

Discovered
When configuring video recorders on a Windows Vista server, LDVR recorders can not be automatically discovered in System Administration. 4.5.24. Windows Vista Client: LNVR Failover Issue When monitoring video on a Windows Vista client, LNVR cameras may experience issues connecting to a failover recorder. This issue is caused because ICMP protocol is blocked for the recorder. To workaround this issue, enable ICMP in Windows Vista: 1. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. 2. Select Inbound Rules in the tree on the left. 3. Click New Rule in the actions window on the right. 4. The Rule Type window is displayed, select Custom and click [Next]. 5. The Program window is displayed. Select All programs and click [Next]. 6. The Protocol and Ports window is displayed. Set Protocol type to ICMPv4 and click [Next]. 7. The Scope window is displayed, click [Next].

8. The Action window is displayed. Select Allow the connection and click [Next]. 9. The Profile window is displayed. Select Domain, Private and Public. Click [Next]. 10. The Name window is displayed. Enter a descriptive name and click [Finish]. 4.5.25. PAL Cameras

may not have Frame Rates Colored to Indicate Supported

Frame Rates
Regions using PAL and incorporating the following list of cameras may not have the frame rate displayed in green/red to indicate supported frame rates: Axis MPEG4 (only): 213 PTZ Axis MJPEG (only): 240Q Axis MJPEG and MPEG4: 214 PTZ, 215 PTZ, 241Q, 241QA, 241S, 241SA, 243Q , 243SA, 247S Lenel: All cameras Panasonic MJPEG (only): WV-NS202 PTZ, WV-NW474 Panasonic MJPEG and MPEG4: WV-NS202a PTZ Pixord (MJPEG and MPEG4) Sony MJPEG (only): RZ-30, CS3 Sony MJPEG and MPEG4: DF-40, DF-70, P5, RZ-25, Z20 Sony MJPEG, MPEG4, H264: CS50, DF-50, DF-80, RX-550, RZ-50 4.5.26. Reduced Rate Recording not Supported with H.264 Video Source Reduced rate recording (for example, Time Lapse mode) is not supported for H.264. Due to the nature of the H.264 algorithm, the feature that allows live video at a higher frame rate and recording at another lower rate is not supported. That means that the LNVR can only record the amount of images that are received live and not less. 4.5.27. Streaming Video Server not supported with H.264 Video Source The H.264 camera codec is not supported with the BARCO/Streaming Video Server integration. 4.6.

Enterprise
4.6.1. Anomalies

Warning During Database Setup for Indexes that Should Not be Present on Enterprise and Distributed ID Masters

New and upgraded systems that are converted to Enterprise or Distributed ID Masters do not properly have their indexes cleaned up. Database Setup may report these as anomalies while analyzing your database. These can be safely cleaned up during the database setup process. In the event that they are not cleaned up at this point, they will be cleaned up the first time Replicator runs against the master. 4.6.2. Enterprise Server

Display Name Now Configurable in Replication

Administration
It is now possible to change the way the Enterprise Server name is displayed on the Enterprise Server Configuration window in Replication Administration. Previously this value was modified by using the EAUseDSNRatherThanServerName setting in the ACS.INI file. This file setting is no longer used and can be removed from the ACS.INI file. 4.6.3. Global I/O Restrictions Global I/O linkages will not work between two Enterprise regions. Global I/O configurations must use the same Linkage Server. 4.6.4. Duplicate Dynamic Segment Names After Upgrade It is possible to have a region and a master in an Enterprise system with the same node name if they were previously hosted on the same system. This may result in duplicate segment names being created during an upgrade. To address this, a 1 will be appended to one of the segment names. These system segments can be

renamed by updating the node name to be unique. 4.6.5. Pre-existing User-specific Layouts Not Replicated to Enterprise Master Pre-existing user-specific video layouts are not replicated up to the master when user replication is enabled. This only affects pre-existing layouts. New layouts will be properly replicated. To work around this limitation, open each existing layout and save it again with the same name. 4.6.6. Referential Integrity Error when Saving Layouts If a layout is saved with cameras added from another region via the Camera Lookup feature, a Referential Integrity error may occur. To save a layout that generates the error, remove the cameras located on other regions from the layout prior to saving. 4.6.7. IntelligentVideo

Applications Not Available on Enterprise Master when Configured on a Child Region

There is a known issue with the replication of IntelligentVideo Applications to the Master. This issue will be addressed in a future release. 4.6.8. IntelligentVideo

Applications Not Supported with IntelligentVideo Application Server Located on a Different Region

In Enterprise systems, IntelligentVideo Applications should not be configured for IntelligentVideo Application Servers that are located on other regions. This is not a supported configuration, and the IntelligentVideo Application will not function properly.

5. Limitations
5.1.

General

5.1.1. Installation May Appear Not to Start on Slower Systems After the Preparing to Install window closes, there may be a pause before the installation appears to continue on slower systems. During this time the mouse pointer may not indicate an hourglass and it may appear that the installation has stopped. The installation will continue after a few moments. 5.1.2. Double-click Generates an Error in the Online Help A rapid double-click on a graphic within the online help produces an error. This is a known limitation within HTML help. 5.1.3. System Settings Do Not Apply to OnGuard Applications Until Restarted System settings changes, such as font sizes, theme colors, and new printers are not reflected in running OnGuard applications until they are restarted. 5.1.4. Names

and User Names for Directory Accounts Linked to Cardholders are not Resolved

After linking a cardholder to a directory, the values in the Name and User Name columns may be displayed as a long string of numbers. The SID is displayed when the system cannot establish the name of the user based on the SID. This issue is related to the trust between users, domains, computers, sub-networks. 5.2.

Access Control 5.2.1. Inaccurate Search Results Count in Browser-based Area Access Manager

On a system with cardholder and/or badge type segmentation enabled, the results count for searches displayed in the browser-based Area Access Manager can be incorrect. The workaround is to use the desktop client Area Access Manager. 5.2.2. Additional Keys During Biometric Verification Will be Ignored

During a biometric verification, additional keys pressed at an associated keypad will be ignored and will not start a new access attempt. 5.3.

Identity Management

5.3.1. IE SmartTOUCH Sector Allocation Limitation The IE SmartTOUCH only works with first 1K (Sector 0 to 15) of a 4K MIFARE card. Any data encoded in sector 17 or above will not be read by the reader. 5.3.2. Field Type Must be Text for Phone Numbers User defined phone number fields must have a field type of text, not numeric. Phone numbers entered as numeric fields may have their values truncated. 5.3.3. HID Edge PIN Limitation HID VertX/Edge firmware has limitation of 8 digits for confirming PIN. The confirming PIN is a PIN stored a part of Card/Badge record on the VertX/Edge controller database. On the other side, OnGuard allows user to have up to 9 digits PIN. The workaround for this issue is to truncate the PIN by 8 digits while putting a card record to the controller. 5.4.

Digital Video 5.4.1. Recorded Video Cannot be Exported from a Failover Video Recorder
5.4.2. MPEG4 with AXIS Cameras Camera time-stamps are not available with AXIS MPEG4 cameras. Due to the way the AXIS cameras communicate, the Inputs and Outputs are not as reliable in MPEG4 as they are with MJPEG. Lenel does not recommend Capture Video only on Event with MPEG4, as it takes several seconds to connect to the camera and begin recording. When using MPEG4 and moving in and out of Time-Lapse recording, there is a one-frame loss. Therefore, it is recommended to have a Pre-roll at least one second greater than you need. The higher the frame rate, the less noticeable this one-frame loss is. Lenel also recommends using a high frame rate with MPEG4 and Time-Lapse Recording. When using an AXIS Video Server (241Q, 241S, 241QA, 241SA) you will occasionally experience a problem where the video will stop recording when you change the frame resolution. This can be fixed by opening a live video stream and letting it run for several seconds, or restarting the LNVR services. Video Acceleration in the Video Player MUST be set to None in order to insure a clear video picture. AXIS cameras may experience a ghosting effect at higher GOV (Group of Video Object Planes) lengths. This issue is resolved with Axis firmware version 4.40, which is available for download on the Axis web site. If the firmware cannot be upgraded, it is recommended to set the GOV length to 30 or less frames. 5.4.3. Lumenera Cameras Starting video search may cause computer CPU to enter constant loop due to high resolution of video. Megapixel video searches that are lengthy may cause the system to stop responding and require a reboot. Results will vary by computer. Short searches are recommended to avoid this issue. Setting a camera to 1024 x 768 and compression of 10 or less may result in 0 frames being streamed.

Video that is recorded to a failover video recorder cannot be exported.

Lumenera 375 camera image may change from normal to dark if a large dark object blocks or is placed in close proximity to the lens and covers more than 60% of the field of view for more than 2 seconds. Lumenera Technical Support can be reached at +1 613-736-4077 (press 2 from the auto-attendant) between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:30 p.m. EST or via e-mail at support@lumenera.com. 5.4.4. Panasonic WV-NS202A PTZ in MPEG4 Mode Limited to 30 fps The Panasonic WV-NS202A PTZ is limited to 30 fps when used with MPEG4 mode. 5.4.5. Lumenera LI045C is Limited to a Resolution of 720x480 The Lumenera LI045C camera has a limitation which only allows a resolution of 720x680. 5.4.6. Mobotix Cameras Require a Longer Direct Connect Default Timeout Mobotix cameras will not work properly with Direct Connect at default timeout. The default 5 second timeout will not work since the camera may take longer to start. Set the Direct connect to something longer, such as 10 seconds. 5.4.7. Frame Rates

for Panasonic WV-NS202A MPEG4 Cameras Not Displayed in Color in System Administration

The Panasonic WV-NS202A MPEG4camera has not been lab-tested to determine frame rate color values. The frame rates for this camera are displayed in black in System Administration. 5.4.8. Frame Rate Drops With AXIS 241Q When the Camera Web Page is Opened The frame rate drops when viewing video from an AXIS 241Q in OnGuard when the camera web page is opened. This is a known third-party limitation with the video server. It is recommended to close camera web pages when viewing video. 5.4.9. AXIS 240x Video Servers Do Not Report an Error When Offline The Axis 240x video servers are obsolete models and they do not support the detection of the video channel interface. These models will not support the Video Signal Offline feature found in the latest LNVR servers. 5.4.10. Auto White Balance for the Panasonic WV-NW964 PTZ Sets the Red Gain

and Blue Gain to Zero

The Panasonic Automatic White Balance must be adjusted manually from the camera web page. This is a limitation of the camera. The user needs to manually adjust the AWC control by resetting the Red and Blue settings and then selecting the Adjust button to keep the settings. 5.4.11. Toshiba Cameras Do

Not Support Maximum Frame Rate With Maximum

Resolution
Toshiba cameras do not support the ability to obtain the maximum frame rate with the maximum resolution. This is a third-party camera limitation of Toshiba cameras. The OnGuard system will attempt to obtain the maximum frames out of the camera but some configurations might not achieve the desired frame rate because the camera may provide less. 5.4.12. Cannot Limit Frame Rate on Bosch Cameras from the Camera Web Page The web page for Bosch cameras offers a Performance Option to limit the frame rate. This option does not affect the frame rate in OnGuard. 5.4.13. Shadow Effect with Bosch Dinion Camera A shadow effect on the Bosch Dinion Camera can be removed by enabling the Dynamic Noise Reduction setting on the Camera Settings > Camera Profile > Enhance section of the camera web page. 5.4.14. Bosch 8008 Camera

There is a three (3) second delay before video is displayed from a Bosch 8008 camera. This delay is seen when launching video from the Bosch 8008 and when switching from one 8008 channel to another. 5.4.15. Settings on the Panasonic WV-NP1004 Must Be Applied Manually The WV-NP1004 has settings that cannot be applied by OnGuard. These settings can be applied to achieve either the best quality or the best frames per second performance. The following settings modify either of these: "Scan mode" and "Maximum resolution" (depending on the Scan mode either 1280x960 or 960x720.) When the scan mode is set to Partial Scanning the user can get higher frame rates but lower quality. At Full Scanning the user gets better quality but lower frames per second. The maximum resolution needs to be turned off when the user is trying to access lower resolutions from the LNVR. 5.4.16. Device Camera Link and Capture Video on Event Delay When using a Device Camera link, there may be a small lag time of 1 to 2 seconds before the event actually triggers the event on the camera. This delay should be taken into account when setting pre-roll on a camera. 5.4.17. Offline LNVR May Cause a Delay in Alarm Reporting When an LNVR is offline, there may be a delay before alarms are received by the Communication Server. 5.4.18. Go To PTZ Preset Feature Not Supported when LNVR is Offline The Go To Preset action cannot be executed when there is a direct connection to the camera. The LNVR must be online for this action to be successful. 5.4.19. Black Video Cells in Remote Monitor If a video cell appears black in Remote Monitor, press stop and then play. If this does not resolve the issue, right-click the Remote Monitor and select Download Database. 5.4.20. Selecting a Video

Cell in Browser-based VideoViewer Automatically Locks

PTZ
When a user selects a cell in browser-based VideoViewer, PTZ control is assumed and PTZ is locked for other users. To release control of the PTZ, select the lock/unlock button or wait for the timeout. 5.4.21. In-Camera Storage Feature Considerations Users should refrain from viewing video during times that the LNVR is downloading video from the camera. The In-Camera Storage timezone should not be set to Always. Cameras configured with In-Camera Storage appear offline in Alarm Monitoring. Communication Loss/Restored alarms are generated each time video is launched for the camera. As a workaround, users can configure Camera I/O or Camera Motion Detection. Users should not use the filename prefix option on the camera web page. This setting will hide the files from the LNVR download service. The filename prefix should be left blank. If the LNVR is downloading from the camera users may experience delays in stopping LNVR services. Extra memory in the camera can cause it to stop responding. If this occurs, the drive may need to be formatted. 5.4.22. ASF Files Are Not Supported in Alarm Monitoring ASF files are not compatible with Alarm Monitoring. If an ASF file is loaded, the date will appear incorrect. ASF files should be opened with Windows Media Player. 5.4.23. Exported LDVR Files Not Automatically Associated with VideoViewer VideoViewer should be opened once before exported LDVR files can be opened with a mouse double-

click. 5.4.24. Video Export from Browser-based VideoViewer in Windows Vista When exporting video in Windows Vista, the Windows user must have write access to the location that the video is saved. The default save location is the Desktop. 5.4.25. Setting the Color Mask with Grayness in Object Detection The Grayness slider for the color mask in the Object Detection engine is not guaranteed to smoothly change the color mask. It is recommended to do as much color mask configuration as possible using the color palette tool and the Hue slider. 5.4.26. Intel Decoder Must be Installed for Playback with the Panasonic 474 The Intel Decoder is required for playback using the stand-alone video player for the Panasonic 474. Install the Intel IPP from the OnGuard disc in the \Temp\INTEL folder. Copy the LnrIntlDmo.dll file from the OnGuard disc in the \CommonLenel\ folder to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lenel\ and register the file.
