5) General notes:
a. We DO NOT advise wearing contacts in the darkroom. If you forget and
end up wearing contacts in the darkroom, there are goggles that are in each
darkroom that you can wear to help protect your eyes.
b. We DO NOT advise eating or drinking in the darkrooms.
c. WHIMIS sheets are available in both darkrooms with information listed
about the chemicals used in the darkrooms. There is a FIRST AID kit in
the OFFICE and eyewash stations in each darkroom.
d. There are no office hours on weekends. This means if you signup for the
darkroom late on a Sunday, there is the possibility that the chemistry could
be empty. We try very hard to keep the chemistry fresh and full, but if
there are a lot of members in the darkrooms on the weekend, chemistry
could become depleted. Keep this in mind when signing up for darkroom
time.
e. Chem is replenished by execs 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after their
office hours. Be prepared to relinquish your darkroom to the exec during
the posted office hours to let them quickly replenish the chemistry.
f. It is important that you do not allow non-members to utilize the club’s
resources. If it is late and you do not feel comfortable doing to the
darkroom alone, you can bring a friend along but they are not permitted to
USE the darkroom facilities. In allow others to use your membership, you
are not only cheating yourself, but you are stealing for all of the other
members.
g. Other Items for signout:
i. for certain special items (the expensive light kit and the expensive
medium format camera), you are required to complete a short
training prior to signing them out. These items CANNOT be
signed out over the weekend and are only allowed to be signed out
for 1 day at a time.
ii. Books, magazines, toners, metal reels and the expensive easel are
also available for signout.
iii. Studio signout requires you to signout keys during an office hour
and to have an exec sign you up for a time slot.
h. Workshops: workshops are NOT mandatory, but they are available to you
and are included within your membership fee. In order to attend the more
advanced workshops, please signup on the sheets posted in the PAC
OFFICE on the bulletin board (there are no limits on these workshops, we
just ask you to signup so that we can gauge how many people are coming).
i. PAC PHOTO CONTEST: there is a photo contest every semester. The
TOPIC will be emailed to you and posted on a bulletin board in the PAC
office. There are PRIZES! 1st place gets a free membership to the PAC for
an upcoming semester and a pack of paper; 2nd place gets 4 rolls of film
and a free membership; and 3rd place gets a free membership for an
upcoming semester.
j. If you have questions about ANYTHING, email us paclub@uoguelph.ca,
phone us at 824-4120 ext 58102, stop by an office hour and ask an exec,
or drop a note in our SUGGESTION BOX. Let us know if you there is
some equipment you want us to buy, a workshop you would like us to
run…. We have money to spend on you guys!
k. We’re always looking for new exec. If you would like to be apart of the
team behind the scenes that helps keep the club running for the members,
send an email to paclub@uoguelph.ca. You don’t have to be a photo guru
to be on the exec: the only real requirement is about 4 hours of volunteer
time per week.
